I think perhaps, since I went in October a lot of the land was quite dry and therefore animals were very spread out and very challenging to find. Also, I've lucky to do many safaris in my life, so my expectations were high. I believe that April may be a better time for seeing more greenery and possibly more animals as it is cooler and more water around.

The accommodations recommended by Journey beyond, were nice luxury accommodations, with very nice food.
We have really enjoyed our stay.

About: Kenya
Very diverse, the locals were very friendly and helpful, it was a lot to take in but in a good way.

This was our first safari experience. We selected a budget safari and the company ensured that our eight days were filled with game drives and excursions. We saw the big five and so many other animals, we took well over 1500 pictures. The itinerary had to be flexible as we were on an eight-day safari and other members of our group were on a six. I would suggest that changes to the itinerary get communicated a bit better, we found out at a lunch break that we were being moved to another guide to complete our tour which was a bit of a surprise. Our two guides, Jackson and Eric were amazing. One thing we weren't prepared for was the amount of driving between the parks as we covered Masai Mara, Amboseli and Nakuru. It did give us a look at very different eco systems, Masai Mara was both green and a bit drought affected, Nakuru was very lush and Amboseli was very dry. The meals provided were very repetitive at all the accommodations. The eco camps were excellent accommodations, the hotels were not as comfortable and clean as the eco camps.

About: Tanzania
Interesting, the animals were incredible.

Tanzania was great. Animals were spectacular. Our guide Perfect was absolutely wonderful! Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater were fabulous for animals and pictures. I would possibly try a different area of the Serengeti, a long drive from where we were to get to the interesting parts where the animals hang out. The food was not that great but considering the location it was acceptable. Unfortunately you get pretty much the same thing everyday for lunch, cold pasta and cold rice. Dinners were a bit better but not wonderful. All of the people involved were very nice, helpful, professional and accommodating. The rooms were clean. Some of the places used solar panels for hot water so if there were too many tents hooked to one panel they ran out of hot water. I would definitely go back again. The weather was great.

Kenya is a great East Africa experience. Being my first time on that side of the continent I found it’s diversity made it easy to indulge in everything. From the beautiful non tourist filled beaches in Mombasa to the vast rolling landscapes of the Maasai Mara and the nightlife of Nairobi. Whether you’re into ecotourism, cultural encounters or the highlife, there’s something for everyone. My next trip will be much more curated and quiet but if you’re a first time traveler to Kenya, I suggest try everything once, stay for a minimum of 10days then return again for what you enjoyed most.

I visited Bwabwata np in January this year (2014).
During previous traveling trough the Zambezi Region i had cross the park using the Transcaprivi in both day and nigth time. The daytime where not verry rewardings by during the night i saw duikers, springhares, buffalos, wilddogs on two occasions and even a caracal, all that along the main road!
When visiting this year i entered the park south east section from Kongola to Nambwa Campsite. There i saw elephant, kudus, impalas, lechwes, waterbucks, baboons, warthogs... and event 3 lions!
The campsite was lovely with a viewing platform towards the floodplains.
I stayed there for two nights. There was another party in the campsite on the first night, i was alone on the second.

Three days in Kruger National Park were memorable. The wildlife sightings were fantastic even the less popular animals. Any wildlife lover would not be disappointed. Unfortunately concerns about safety in various areas is always in the background.

Something Special (one in a lifetime)

We did only a 3 full day safari which is quiet short but was enough for us! Our Safari Guide frome „Lion King Adventure“ was really friendly but also a little bit tooo careful while driving on the „normal roads“ everyone will overrun us even the big trucks.. he was afraid of a big fine.
Also we went to Tiarangire, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara. Our Guide was sad we did‘t book Serengeti (because it was too far away for us). And he didn‘t want to go home to his family because of a lot of bills, so he made us feel bad.. They don‘t have enough work / safaris to do / to less tourists.
We REALLY liked the „Karatu tented lodge“ in Karatu where we stayed for 2 nights!
Before and after the Safari we slept each one night in Arusha in the „Mount Meru“ Hotel, also recommend this hotel.

After the Safari we went to Zanzibar and we loved the north of it!! (Nungwi!) Probably the most beautiful Beach ever!
2 days it was raining a little bit but nothing bad.
The service in the Hotel was not as good as expected (sundies baobab hotel), we only booked B&B and went to different restaurants for lunch & dinner at the beach. That was amazing food and really cheap!
After 1 Week we went to the South of Zanzibar (Kizimkazi), we really liked the hotel (fruit & spice) but at the beach it was really windy and the beach was not really nice! Next time I wouldn‘t go to the South.. maye east, but definitely loved the North!
