Very Professional, knowledgble and Flexible!
5/5

Umubano Tours were very professional, attentive and flexible. While I only had a 3-day tour, Umubano Tours offers dozens of different tours around Rwanda as well as into the Democratic Republic of Congo that allows for a night stay near the top of an active volcano that I wish I had extra time for. I organized my trip through Gilbert who has been with Umubano Tours for around eight years and organized a flawless visit. My guide was Didier who has been with for over four years and was very knowledgeable and open as I would ask questions not only about Rwanda’s recent history, but about the type of food, agriculture, and local traditions. Didier was also very flexible as I had other requests which he was all too happy to arrange at no extra charge. Also, Didier was very accommodating when I would ask to stop frequently to take pictures.
The city tour is very basic and probably could be avoided, but a visit to the Genocide Museum is a must and free of charge.
Visiting the Mountain Gorillas. There is a $700 permit fee and a one-day visit is probably good enough, but you have come this far and I would recommend another day as you will not only be able to compare the different gorilla families, but guarantee you will take the perfect photo/video that you may have missed the day before!
Unless you can guarantee that it will not rain when hiking, here is a list that you should bring: Waterproof Boots, Gators, Higher quality/thicker hiking pants (stinging nettles everywhere!), and gloves. There are multiple options to see the various gorilla families and each brings its own experience. Personally, I enjoyed the Susa group the most as, not only was it the largest family, but with more adult males – there was plenty of aggressive play that really made the experience worthwhile. Depending upon the shape you are in may greatly effect which family/hike you can visit. Some are affected by the altitude (around 8000 feet high) and tire much easier. Otherwise, the hikes themselves range in distance and difficulty – but even the longest hike may only be 2-3 hours uphill one way. The drive to each Gorilla family trailhead may also require a 1-2 hour drive. Porters are also available to help bring your backpack if you prefer.
Part of the fun is that the Gorillas are very active and do move frequently - so just when your guide says you are close – the gorillas have moved even further up the mountain. Additionally, the guides carry machetes and will constantly be clearing a new path throughout the hike. Once you find the family, there is a limit of one hour – but surprisingly it does not go as quick as you would think
The guides are very professional and will all but guarantee you will get close enough for an experience you would not forget!

We had an overland tour booked with On the Go Tours. We added to this a couple of game drives in Zimbabwe and another in Johannesburg. In Johannesburg we went to Pilansberg on a drive booked through Mmilo Tours… it was absolutely amazing and our guide Norman was fantastic. In Zimbabwe we booked through Pure Africa for a morning game drive in the Zambezi National Park and an afternoon drive in the Stanley and Livingston Park. Both were more than expected our guides for both were superb. Our overland tour was a camping tour and it was exactly as we thought it would be and we loved every minute. We travelled from Victoria Falls to Jo'burg and it was just long enough. The experience was incredible the camp sites were spotless the food cooked by our chef Martin was delicious. The wildlife … well just as it should be.. wild and free. We spent time on the Okavango Delta too which we accessed on Mokoro which are flat canoes that are poled across the delta by a poler. Here we also spent time in an African village which was definitely a highlight. We were able to help one little girl and will be contributing to her welfare in the future.

We could not have had a more perfect experience of Africa.

Here more about our safari:
The most unforgettable vacation among others (Bali, Phillipines, Canaries, Medditerranian islands, ...)!!!
I quested 4 companies at the beginning and only WILD Safaris and Travel's representative Tom kept answering on my requests while I was sticking together our ambitious wishes with our possibilities. Tom was very attentive, explained everything on e-mail and whatsapp, answered on all my requests, within max 24 hours.
With Tom's kind assistance also were purchased tickets for SGR train Nairobi - Mombasa (beach) to go after safari and back, as such purchase can be done only from local telephone owner.
We were met at Nairobi airport at night upon arrival by representative as agreed and after 4 days safari dropped out at our chosen accommodation
During our tour we stayed at 2 different places - Midi Mingi Ecocamp and hotel in Nakuru. We were welcomed with a lot enthusiasm at each place! The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. The food was very taste, a la fourchette, and always hot and fresh and plenty of it.

About safary: our driver and guide in one person - Patrik -incredible sense of where rare animals could be found, attracting descriptions about their habits and lives! and all - with light sense of humor! We saw all big 5 (rhinos - at Nakuru), many times lions - males with overfull stomachs, group of females, couple! and plenty of my lovely giraffes and elephants crossing the road!
Patrik has fantastic intuition where rare animals could be met. Patrik was so sincere and genuine in wanting to get to know us and make sure we were having the best time of our lives. Also visit to Masai Village third day morning was educational and interesting.

So exciting all together!

Our expectations were exceeded as we got value for our money.
We saw many animals (all big 5) thank to our very charismatic driver/guide Patric.
We highly recommend services of WILD Safaris and Travel to any traveler to Kenya.

After safari adventures we enjoyed one week at north (Malindi, Bonino Chalet) from Mombasa and south (Galu, Bidi Badu Zanzibar) beaches - greatest relax!
Highly recommend to attend Crocodile and Snake farm -Malindi!so exciting, with portion of good humor stories about all animals from farm owner, ex-professional snake catcher! There you can meet all famous politician names!

We went on a safari with Lifetime Experience and they organized for me a great safari, including the visit of the gorilla's which was a unique experience. Only sitting in the car and watch the scenery was a pleasure. We came in the 'rainy' season but the rain never really bothered us. Accomodations were clean, the staff was very friendly and the food excellent. Our guide was an excellent driver, was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. It was one of the best holidays we had. Beautiful country, wonderful people.
