Vast but sparsely populated
Overall rating
3/5

Visited both Tsavo East and Tsavo West. They are quite vast, but sadly not a wide variety of animals are present. You see plenty of elephants and zebras, some giraffes, and that's almost it! We spent 2 days and only saw 2 lions in Tsavo East on our very last hour after a very frantic search for them (our guide had been told where to go and look for them!). There was the occasional monkey and one buffalo. This is all over 2 days! If you really want to see animals go to Maasai Mara, Amboselli, etc.

About: Kenya
AN UNFORGETTABLE AND AMAZING EXPERIENCE
Overall rating
5/5

If you are hasitating in visiting Kenya on february, do not do it! The weather is perfect, not to hot, with no rain. We could see the big five in the fisrt day, and a lot of other animals. The Masai Mara is wonderful, with great sightseeings, it is not to crowded. All the hotels are really great, the service is impecable, you can see everyone with a smile in their faces. Our tour was wonderful beginning with our guide, that has a lot of experience, always taking care of us, the transport is quite good, we had the car for ourselves. The food is very good.

Our tour for 25 days around Tanzania was the result of very good cooperation during almost one year!
5/5

Communication between very differently thinking people can be difficult, but also very giving - hopefully to both parties? "Dating" this way about new travelling experiences is like a lottery, and this time we won!
The cooperation and playing "ping pong" in the planning phase with Selous Ngalawa Camp fully lived up to our expectations - and more! We really feel that we got "value for money", and in addition to that we had the pleasure of meeting very kind and helpful people from the company and their cooperating partners!
We will never be afraid of trying this way of planning and travelling again, and the days in Tanzania gave us SO many exciting and new impres-sions and experiences that it fully covers for the tiny points of "dissatisfaction" (which we have long forgotten!!) We will remember this tour for the rest of our lives ......

good office interaction, driver not perfect
3/5

Minneh was great helping get this organized at the start and was quick to respond to our questions and queries, which was fantastic. But there were some mixups on what time we were supposed to be picked up at our hotel to start. Not a big deal, but we were told three different times and ended up ready at 7am while the driver said he was told to get us at 8am. A bigger deal was the 45min wait at the tax office coming home while our driver sorted out permitting issues on the way out. Other safari teams came through the tax checkpoint quickly, showed their receipts, and left -- less than 60 seconds -- while our paperwork wasn't quite right, and so we waited and waited and waited.

The animals of course were great, which is what you want to remember from the experience. And Keekorok lodge, while dated, was a great location and had super friendly staff.

I'd probably be okay using Jocky Tours again for the ease of payment and organizing, but just double and triple check how things are supposed to go on timing. And maybe avoid Leonard as a driver. We didn't get as a warm a fuzzy with him as we might have liked -- he'd clearly done this a lot before, but spent a lot more time on his phone while driving that we would have wanted.

The best and most professional tour operator in the world
5/5

This was our second time in less than 2 years working with Patrick and Mmlo Tours. They've spoiled us for any other operators! We live in the USA, and all it takes is an email to Patrick outlining interests, budget, timing, etc. and he returns a proposal with options and fantastic descriptions about everything he's recommending. Mmlo seems to have an uncanny ability to answer questions before you ask. Really thorough and clear. This most recent trip, we took Patrick up on his offer of a private guide for a safari. My friend and I enjoyed the company and expertise of Mmlo guide Norman Lok. We had the pleasure of being in Norman's care at the start of our safari trip - he took us from the airport to our safari lodge near Pilanesberg National Park, and then again on our 3rd day when he gave us a private, guided safari ride in the park, and got us to our next destination, Hartbeesport for the night. On our final day, Norman picked us up and took us to the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre, and shared some lesser known attractions with us where we saw meerkats and shopped at a fantastic craft market. When you book with Mmlo, you must request time with Norman. He is a country-wide certified guide. We learned more about the animals and the South African culture from Norman than from any of the other guides. By far. He's a gentleman, he thinks ahead to what you might need - water, a seat, Internet, etc. We will be going back to South Africa and will only use Mmlo Tours for your adventures. Oh, and I should mention, we got the time wrong for one of our evening safari drives (completely our fault) and I emailed Patrick to see if he could help us figure it out. He called me immediately and was very helpful. And it was a Saturday late in the day. The customer service is impeccable.
