Thrilling Odyssey
Overall rating
5/5

Hwange National Park offered wonderful opportunities to view and photograph amazing wildlife. We found eight large mammal, three of the Big Five, in just our first morning game drive. As an avian photographer on my first trip to Zimbabwe I was thrilled at the species I saw and recorded, which included Bateleur, African Fish, Wahlberg's, and Tawny Eagles. We found several species of Hornbill, and of course numerous Lilac-breasted Rollers and Southern Carmine Bee Eaters. We saw elephants, hippos, zebras, antelope, lions, and a cheetah.

Our stay at The Hide was comfortably luxurious, with excellent food and service and great views of visiting wildlife to the watering holes. The game drives were thrilling each morning and afternoon, and I was delighted with the knowledge and expertise of our safari guide, Daffy. We're planning of a return visit in the very near future.

Kenya Safari 2011

I had an excellent experience with Sureway Tours on my safari through the Maasai Mara in Kenya. Communication, coordination, and service were great and really added to the experience.

Land of Contrasts

Our journey to South Africa was jam-packed. We spent slightly more time on the ground than we did in our flights getting there. We saw the Big Five in Kruger courtesy of a safari provided by Wild Life Safaris. Our guide Nick was well-informed and always one-step ahead of what we wanted to do. Our flight from there to Cape Town was uneventful. Cape Town was as beautiful as advertised. Hiked Lion's Head, walked the beach from Camps Bay to the city waterfront, ate some very good food. Saw ostriches, eland, and penguins on the beach. Visited the wine country. Weather "cooperated."

An Exceptional Introduction To The African Continent
5/5

I had an absolutely fantastic time with Simon and my tour group both at Kruger National Park as well as en route. The service Simon and Wild Wings Safaris provides is exceptional. Thanks to Madi for recommending and acquiring great pre and post safari accommodation at Premier Hotel. Road transfers to and from Kruger were very comfortable and picturesque. Accommodation in Kruger National Park was also comfortable and very sufficient for our needs. The meals prepared by Simon were more than sufficient and of very good quality. It was a delight to be treated to something as exotic to my palate as ostrich! Simon and Robert are both exceptional guides whose knowledge of the park and the species indigenous therein are second to none. My (first) game viewing experience could not have been better! My main hope for the safari was to see the rhinoceros and I was treated to a rhino sighting almost daily including both white, and the more rare black, rhino. Simon informed me and my travel companions that we were very fortunate to see African wild dogs on only our second day of safari as they are very rare to see, especially in packs as large as that which we saw. Regretfully, the only animal we did not see this time around was the elusive cheetah. So, it looks like I will have to (gladly) return for another game viewing experience in the future.

We had an exceptional time. Our tour guide Florid and Safari Soles planned everything.

We enjoyed the upscale tenting places we stayed. Zebras and elephants in our front yard

The animals of course made the trip. We even saw a baby giraffe being born

Excellent trip for 2 adults and 3 children

The safari was perfect, the driver was friendly and informative. Paraa Lodge was fantastic in Murchison Falls. Our driver tailored the game drives based on our children. Would definitely recommend this company.

We loved our 3 day safari to Chobe. Our guide, Max was so informative and made so much effort to give us the best possible experience. We saw lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, water buffalo and we were fortunate enough to even see a leopard. We were amazed how close we were to the wildlife but we never felt unsafe. We were very well looked after by our guide all thru. Wear a warm jacket for early mornings. Highly recommend Botswana.

Windhoek is nice city with somewhat Europeanized buildings. So sunny and dry. We spent 3 nights at the desert lodge watching quiet desert and strange looking trees. This is probably a bit different destination in Africa for tourists with distinct tastes.

A Must Visit
Overall rating
5/5

Pilanesberg has become one of South Africa's 'must visit' destinations. It's a compact game park which can be reasonably covered in a day visit, with a great variety of large and small game, as well as birdlife. Should you have the privelage to spend more than a day, that would be even better. Accommodation is great and does not lose the bushveld atmosphere. The service is good and friendly and in the many times that I have been there I have not been able to fault the food once. There is a low security risk but as tourists we all need to be security concious no matter where one goes in the world, so don't leave expensive equipment lying around. The weather is great whether sunshine or rain, but keep in mind that December - February are hot months in South Africa, so if you come in those months please don't complain about the heat, just enjoy it. Over-all I can assure anyone that they will look back at a visit to Pilanesberg and never regret making it part of their itinerary. It's a thoroughbred African experience with an entrance fee through the gate of less than 5 Euros per person for the day. (Accommodation in the luxury catagories could of course be quite expensive, but you normally get good value for your money) I hope you consider making Pilanesberg part of your life experience - I'm addicted :-)

Our trip to South Africa was one of our all time favorites! We visited Johannesburg, Cape Town, Cape Point, the Garden Route and Kapama Private game reserve for safari. The entire 2 weeks were wonderful, diverse and so fun. Johannesburg was so interesting. Cape Town was filled with natural beauty. Seeing penguins on the beach, whales breaching right off the shore, ostrich farms, and walking among elephants at the elephant sanctuary were daily thrills. We paraglided near Knsyna, went hiking and kayaking. There is so much to see and do in South Africa! The Safari was the cherry on top of a perfect vacation sundae!
