It was spectacular. A great mix of environments, flora, fauna and landscape features. Each day or night's drive had a different feel.

Best Holiday Ever!
5/5

Over a year ago when my wonderful Mum-in-law started talking about gorilla trekking, I thought hmmm, sounds like fun. I really took a back seat to all the copious planning and communication that went into designing this trip as my husband and I were overwhelmed opening a restaurant at the time. However, I noticed right away how thorough, courteous and knowledgeable Patrick Shah of Journeys Discovering Africa was in every email he sent.
This trip was a lifetime dream for my Mum-in-law, and Patrick obviously recognized the importance of
every detail of planning, timing, expense and lodging. It took months of work on his part, and many, many emails, but we ended up with a magical, well organized, stress free trip. Patrick even took the time to join us for dinner on our first night in Entebbe (with his lovely wife) and it was a pleasure finally meeting the man behind the plan!
A common refrain during our trip as we were delighted by each beautiful hotel, delicious meal, knowledgeable guide, and well organized travel day was 'oh Patrick, done it again'. From chimp and gorilla trekking, in room massages, garden tours, kissing giraffes, and adopting baby elephants, every experience was special, and made possible by Patrick arranging our trip to fulfill our dreams of an African vacation.
Friends and family were a little dubious when they heard about our plans to visit Uganda and Kenya, trek in the jungle, fly about in little planes, then stay in an unfenced bush camp. Now, having seen our (many, many) pictures, and heard about our trip, they are all jealous! I will never forget this vacation, or the experiences I shared with my family. We would simply not have been able to arrange all the details without Patrick, and his colleagues. Thank you so much!

Magical Driving, Camping and Animal Safari Experience
5/5

I would give a 5 star rating to everything 'Africa Expedition Support' did. Apart from living up to all the promises of memorable independent driving experiences, amazing animal viewing, superb camping facilities, relatively hassle free border crossings, from my perspective, the food was truly wonderful. I have Coeliac Disease and my every requirement for a gluten free, uncontaminated diet was catered for in a way that many restaurants are not able to. Thanks to Bella, cook extraordinaire, and support from Debs and Thiemo in this.

The best way to experience the real Africa
4/5

I thoroughly recommend AES as the way to go provided you are a bit adventurous and don't mind roughing it at times. The opportunity to observe Africa in all its beauty while in your own vehicle was great. Planning and support from AES was excellent. Value for money was outstanding. The itinerary for the Cape Town to Nairobi trip (8 weeks) was comprehensive and provided many opportunities to visit game parks and reserves. On only a few occasions did we get a feeling of being rushed to get somewhere but these days were usually followed by multiple day stops to soak up the local atmosphere.

Cape Town to Nairobi
5/5

We had nine weeks of fantastic experiences. Bella, our guide/cook was awesome and Francis our mechanic worked very hard ensuring all the vehicles performed. Some of the campsites left a bit to be desired, but "this is Africa"! The whole experience was amazing and new friendships with fellow travelers were formed.

While the wildlife was a bit more difficult to spot - more spread out - but the "bush vibe" was intense. We had plenty of wildlife in our camp at night - monkeys and monitor lizards during the day, with bush babies and more monkeys at night. You have to fly in - giraffes were on the runway and had to be chased off.
