We spent 3 days at Nxai Pan on a Self drive as part of a 3 week trip to Zambia and Botswana in September 2011. We spent our first days in Livingston doing the adventure activities such as White Water rafting and Micro Flight. We then self drove through Chobe National Park, Savuti and Moremi. We spent 3 days in Nxai Pan which I can say were probably the most memorable days of our trip. We stayed at South Camp and were within 2 miles of the nearest watering hole within the park. The wildlife was stunning !! Stunning sunsets ! Elephants, Springbok (in their thousands), Wilderbeast, Ostrich, Guinea fowl, Marshall Eagles, Hyena, Oryx to name only a few. We came across a pride of lions that were at the peak of health. Approximately 5-6 females and 3 cubs about 3 months old. A very fit and healthy male. The remoteness was amazing and minimal tourist. We spent a whole morning with a Lion pride and not a single other vehicle in sight !
We would also recommend visiting the Baines Baobab trees !
This park is a must for those wanting to get away from the tourist safari !

Ivory Lodge in the Sabi Sands was such an amazing experince. Our villa was gorgeous, the service and food was the best we had in South Africa (we both gained weight as we were constantly fed incredible food all day!) But the absolute highlight were our the two daily game drives. Ourguide Jono was incredible and we saw incredible wildlife on every trip. Male lions, female lions, baby lions, giraffes, rhinos, hippos -- you name it. I would go back in a heart beat and high recommend it to anyone who wants a luxurious and adventurous experience.

We saw the big five within 1.5 hour. A real sensation was to see a group of a hundred buffaloes coming to the drinking place. Dust was coming up like you know from a cowboy movie. At an other drinking place the zebra's were waiting for theire turn at the drinking place at the moment that the elephants were drinking and washing.

A day of great wildlife in a green ambiance

After two days of wildlife in a very dry and sunny Kruger Park I expected to see more of the same in the Hluhluwe umfolozi game reserve. But the park brought an other experience of nature in South Africa. The game reserve was fully green with trees and plants. During an exciting search we came on small distance of elephants, giraffes and rhinos. My pictures and movies from this safari are really sensational. In our group we were surprised how time was flying during this visit. In the Hluhluwe-Umofolozi Game reserve you really should make enough time for a long safari. Driving around the park to find the animals was a nice surprise during the trip threw South Africa.

Kruger Park is easy to get to from Cape Town. While I haven't safaried in other areas of Africa, I can't imagine a better experience!
