Great 12-day trip with Spot Kenya Safaris
4/5

My husband and I had a great 12-day private safari with Spot Kenya Safaris in January 2015. We flew into Nairobi and went to Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Amboseli National Park, Tsavo West and Tsavo East, and then returned to Nairobi. The parks are amazing and you will not be disappointed! When we (hopefully) return in the future, we will try to go during the great wildebeest migration in August/September, as we heard that is even better!

We were very happy with Spot Kenya's responsiveness during the planning phase and its willingness to design a private safari based around our interests. We ultimately chose Spot Kenya because Geoffrey and the rest of its staff were very responsive, provided a competitive rate, and had good reviews online.

Our guide and driver, Harun, was friendly and professional. He knew lots about the animals and he seemed skilled at navigating the parks and the roads. He also was good at finding the animals and getting us up close to them. We especially appreciated that he was willing to take us to a few places in Nairobi on our final day, even though they were not on our original itinerary.

We loved the places we stayed in Masai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo West, and Tsavo East. The other places we stayed were okay (fine but not as good as the others), and we conveyed our suggestions for changes to Spot Kenya after our trip. We liked the food everywhere we went, and, as a vegetarian, I was happy with the selections.

One suggestion for future travelers is to ask about the driving times between parks, as we did not realize ahead of time how much driving we had in store. We probably would not have changed things anyway, but some travelers might revise their itinerary if they knew how long it takes to get between destinations.

Happy travels - we hope you get to visit Kenya!

Second rate at best, owner has no integrity!
2/5

Where do I start, the food in the camps was good but that's about it! A party of 6 doing a 12 night trip all paid for before we arrived. 3rd day we are at Speke Bay Lodge for one night, our safari landrovers turn up at 1300 hours to collect us, they are immediately blocked in by a tractor and trailer, the management of the lodge inform us that East African Safari and Touring company (also known as EastCo) had not paid for our stay and would not let us go until they did, our luggage was locked in reception. The lodge management then phone EastCO and ask me to speak to the owner Mr Simon King, this I agreed to as I was not happy, after a long chat Mr King asked me to pay off his debt with my credit card, I suggested he use his own credit card, as we had paid for everything up front, he hung the phone up!! About an hour later Mr King phoned and asked to speak to a different member of our party and ask them to pay his debt, again told no, again he hung up. After we had been held hostage for 4 hours, I'm afraid to say that with no help from our tour company, I threatened to kick in the reception door and I would move the tractor (I'm a farmers son) At this point the lodge management get us go, this would turn out to be the first of 3 safari drives we would miss out on due to EastCo's lack of integrity. We drove for 5 hours, mostly in the dark, to arrive at our next lodge at 2100 hours. So lets talk about our 2 Landrover defender safari jeeps, both 15 years old, most of the seals round the doors were gone, so we were covered in dust most of the time, One only had 4 gears out of 5, the other sometimes 3 or 4 gears ( this would cost us another game drive later as the gear box would fall out) this jeep also had 6 warning lights on from day it picked us up! On another day one of the pop up roofs would not stay up, so we were only able to look out of the side windows, most of which were stuck shut! On 2 days we drove for 11 hours between camps, only to be told on arriving at EastCo'c tented camp there was only enough water for 4 people to shower, on the second day at the tented camp 5 French guest arrived to be told there was no water for showers! Ok, I think you are getting the idea of how our trip went, missed game drives, charging a lodge without telling us, the 2 drivers did the best they could with the resource they were given, each time we entered a Game park the drivers had to fill in forms and pay cash which took about 30 minutes, while all the other safari companies stopped for 30 seconds, showed there passes and drove on.
Do not use this company.

Camping under the stars in the Tarangire National Park was the most magical experience of my life. Safari hub made that possible.

Great Safari
5/5

Spot Kenya Safaris (Geoffrey Mukari) made my 2 day safari to Tsavo East a time to remember. As a woman travelling alone I was immediately put at ease and made to feel comfortable and safe. The driver/guide Huran was an expert on on the wildlife. Tsavo East was at its best after rain, green and lush. The whole experience was excellent.

An awesome time in beautiful Africa
5/5

I met up with my aunt who had flown in from Australia in Arusha where we had booked a Safari and Zanzibar extension with Safarihub. We utterly enjoyed the Safari and had the privilege of being in the company of one of most experienced driver guides in Tanzania, and we were delighted by the friendly local people and in particular the staff choirs that would sing for everyone during dinner time, I did buy a CD of their music for old times sake. The Zanzibar experience was a memorable one and very welcomed after the long Safari, we stayed at the Hideaway of Nungwi which had good service and I was amazed to be served lobster for breakfast! We appreciate the effort by Safarihub to make this a perfect holiday and thank them for patiently replying to all of my emails.

7-day Machame Route & 4-day Lake Nakuru/Masai Mara Safari
5/5

I done the Kilimanjaro 7 day Machame route as well as the 4 day safari. Everything went smoothly and the company arranged everything so my journey was hassle free. The company staff were always there to help if need be. The safari was the best part of my trip, we had an amazing guide and I'd recommend this company to my friends.

Beach and Bush to Sun and Sand
5/5

We booked our Safari trip to Tanzania at the Destinations show in London. We were impressed with the country knowledge and even more with the special offer and it was difficult to turn down the deal. We visited Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongor crater, Karatu and Serengeti staying at a mixture of tented and fixed lodges. All of the arrangements were just as promised and our vehicle was good we passed a few broken down safari vehicles and the clients seemed very annoyed. The guide was good with an encyclopaedia of knowledge. The beach extension to Zanzibar was very welcomed after being on the bumpy roads for over a week. My family thoroughly enjoyed this holiday or as I call it an experience.

A photogenic safari
5/5

We had a terrific guide on Safari with us. Being our first photographic safari experience he took great pride in assisting us with correct angles for our photos and showing us some of the most scenic landscape where we could click away to the hearts content. Although we were not promised that we will see the big 5 our guide ensured that we did. Ahsante Philip.
