After visiting both Serengeti and Ngorongoro this park was not as exciting anymore, however it is a good park and you can spot a lot of animals and a few species that did not exist in the other parks.

Larger than anything. Wildlife is usually har to find and weather can be tricky, really hot and humid. But this place is for the turists who want to meet the real wild Africa. I´m really glad to have been there before it gets too crowded like the other parks.

Small park and not really my favorite spots. Wildlife can be scarce like birds. Beware of Tzetze flies

Not as open as Serengeti and Ngorongoro makes the park more hard spotting wildlife and wildlife is far from abundant. However scenery is excellent with mount Meru and Mt. Kilimandjaro in the background.

Lovely surroundings especially if you stay in the log cabins in the mountain. I still want to go up there in the winter

We stayed at Pom Pom camp and although we did not see much on the 3 game drives during our 3 night stay, we thoroughly enjoyed the boat ride on the delta as well as the makoro experience.

Very difficult to see wildlife. Due to the rains we were unable to quad and sleep under the stars. However, the brilliant part were the meerkats. Amazing creatures. I would also suggest the bushmen walk was very contrived and some of their group even seemed to be a bit bored. I felt this was a way for them to make money and felt obliged. The explanations were interesting but I would have rather donated to a cause.

Good birding in the park, wildlife is less, but still some herbivores in the park. There are lots of waterfowls in the park and good flamingo's in the lake in the right season .

Wonderful, but best spent in a tent or caravan.

I go often to Marakele National Park, always as a camper. This is the only way to truly enjoy Marakele.

There are three things that stand out about Marakele, and that make the park unusual. Firstly, there is the campsite that is unfenced, and that is often visited by numerous mammals and lots of birds. It is not uncommon for white rhinoceros to wander through the campsite, and often you can hear them at night munching on grass outside your tent. Secondly, there is access to the mountain areas with several species of birds that are not easy to see elsewhere, and large flocks of Cape Vultures. Thirdly is the variety of habitats and the large number of bird species that can be seen there, especially in summer.

While there is plenty of wildlife, and it is worth seeing, the number of species is lower than some of the other parks, such as Pilanesberg, and the thick bush can obscure game viewing. But, that is also part of the charm, and the challenge of the park. The Waterberg Mountains creates some stunning scenery, and the open campsite gives good access to wildlife that wanders through. The birding is excellent, and never disappoints.
