Park and accomadations are great, but the animals have been greatly reduced over the years. My wife grew up in Zambia and recalls a much more populated national park.

The wildlife is more difficult to see and to discover, however, much more rewarading - and the scenery is really out of this world.

In 1999 I visited South Africa and then I was in Kruger National Park and Umfolozi National Park. There I saw a lot of animals

Unless being an absolute Rhino-fan, avoid Lake Nakuru
Overall rating
1/5

In my opinion Lake Nakuru is the most over-rated safari-park in Kenya. There are better options, which are cheaper, offer more wildlife, and much nicer safari experience then Lake Nakuru. Through, these options are not as easy to get to as Nakuru, however, they are well worth the effort.
Because at least in the other parks, you will see less tourists, you will see motivated park rangers taking their job serious, you will NOT see plastic bags hanging from the acacia trees when trying to spot a leopard, you will not be bothered by the sound of the disco at night, and you will see much more animals in a much better scenery.

Review about Shimba Hills National Reserve by Jay Harsevoort

The animals are not as plentiful and those I went with (their first and only safari) were disappointed. However, I can still remember seeing the Sable Antelope, and it is an experience I will never forget.

Review about Lake Nakuru National Park by Jay Harsevoort
Overall rating
4/5

Lake Nakuru is one place you see a Rhino easily. I also love the trees and the flamingos on the lake. It is also a quieter park with fewer people.

Review about Samburu National Reserve by Jay Harsevoort
Overall rating
4/5

Samburu is a great place to visit for a unique experience far from big cities and people. That said, time with Samburu or further north, the Turkana, is a great reason to head that direction. It is absolutely beautiful out there.

Review about Masai Mara National Reserve by Jay Harsevoort
Overall rating
5/5

Maasai Mara is the best especially if you can only do one park. The wildlife is unsurpassed, and the experience in all ways is the best. I think if you stay more than a day you can begin to explore other animals and birds and relax during the day.

About: Botswana
Botswana is an incredibly beautiful country with amazing wildlife and spectacular sunsets!
Overall rating
5/5

The wildlife viewing in the Okavango Delta was fantastic! Close views of Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Zebra...the list goes on. One of my favorite parts of the safari was the birds. There are so many beautiful birds!

The weather in June was great. During the days the temps ranged from the 70's to 80's(F). At night the temp dropped into the 40's or 50's, cold but not bad at all. Plus the cooler temperatures means not too many bugs!

I could not be pleased more with the guides incredible knowledge and tracking skills. Amazing!
