Certainly one of the best and most comfortable game reserves in South Africa
Having been to most Game reserves in South Africa , my visit to Madikwe was certainly the best ever. Being able to watch game from our balcony at a small drinking hole less than 50 metres away with large herds of elephants coming to drink in addition to many other game species was one of the highlights. The area is malaria free and the scenery with unusual rock formations is beautiful. As an avid birder for many years I was thrilled with the abundant bird life. The guide we had was very knowledgeable and prepared to take us anywhere we wanted to go. We had excellent views of lion as well as black rhino. Some of my videos of this area can be seen on You Tube thespronks. (Young elephant showing who's boss and Lions Mating)

Review about South Africa by massarma
The vegetation in this area is the typical SA bush. If you want a savanna or forest landscape you should not come. No major lakes or rivers.

Review about South Africa by Wim Spronk
South Africa must be the top country in the world when it comes to Wild Life and is a mecca for birders. All game reserves are well organised and do everything to make visitors comfortable.

Review about Lake Manyara National Park by Rick Johnson
Lake Manyara NP was our first foray into the African wildlife scene and we were not disappointed. Lions, hippos, giraffes, flamingos, baboons, elephants, gazelle, impala, monkeys, and birds, birds, birds.
The best piece of advice I can offer for Lake Manyara or any other safari is to make sure you have a good guide/driver beforehand. You might have to pay a little more for a top guide, but it is well worth the cost. If you can afford a private guide/driver, even better. Ours was exceedingly knowledgeable about the environment and the wildlife. He was able to spot and point out animals that we would have never seen our own. A place like Lake Manyara is quite scenic to drive through, but when someone is able to point out and describe things you would not otherwise notice, it makes the experience truly memorable.

Review about Tanzania by Rick Johnson
In addition to Lake Manyara NP, we also spent 2 days in Ngorongoro Crater and 3 days in the Serengeti. The same advice should be followed as with Lake Manyara: find a good guide. The variety and number of animals and birds to be seen is truly astounding. From the cheetah hunt to the hot-air balloon ride, every turn presents a new and unexpected pleasure.
