About: Kwara Concession
Wonderful Experience
Overall rating
5/5

We stayed at Little Kwara for two nights after spending 3 nights at Lebala. We travelled by a Cessna 206 from the Lebala airstrip to the Kwara strip—about a 25 minute flight. Little Kwara is a newer, smaller and (I'm told) a bit more luxurious camp than Kwara, which can be seen a few hundred metres away through the trees.

The tents were more like wooden chalets on stilts with large double-bed, bathroom with bath, loo and outside shower area. There were lights, but no electricity points. Gadgets and batteries had to be charged up in an area in the central part of the camp. The bed was very comfortable. Our room had a view on the edge of a wooded area across open savannah down to water. At various times, we saw baboons, elephants and assorted antelope walking across.

The wild life at Little Kwara seemed to be more populous than Lebala. We spent less time looking *for* and more time looking *at* animals. To be fair, I thought Lebala was a pleasanter camp than Little Kwara. For bird fanciers, the boat ride in the delta is a wonderful opportunity to see hundreds in one small area. But there's always an element of luck: another group reported seeing a cheetah with a kill. Unfortunately, when we went back there was no sign of cheetah or kill. The guides thought the local lions had probably chased the cheetah off and completely consumed, including bones, the red lechwe that was killed.

Great place - we were in Ashnil Mara Camp by the Mara river - with resident hippos and crocs. Heard a lion roaring in the middle of the night. Sighted lions, antelopes, cheetah, baboons, elephants, hippos, crocs, etc

Great- with snow-capped Mt Kili in the background and lots and lots of elephants and other animals. Sighted lions eating a zebra in a bush quite far away.

Unique wildlife viewing experience from THE ARK
Overall rating
5/5

We stayed overnight at THE ARK which is situated in Aberdare NP (about 6000ft above sea level). The lodge is superb with a waterhole in front, flood lit at night. There was a lot of greenery around. We were locked inside the lodge as it was dangerous to go out since wild animals roam freely. Cape buffalos, antelopes, warthogs, jungle pig and ducks were sighted from the afternoon when we arrived. Herds of elephants (lots) started arriving during evening for water and salt (which was strewn in the open area). They stayed till late night. Hyenas came during night and a pack of them even attacked a cape buffalo, close to our room. The lodge staff, through a buzzer, let us know which animal has arrived at night . The viewing lounge is excellent with full glass panes and good seating arrangements, so is the food - and the talk about Aberdare NP. Additionally there were bird feeding and wild cat feeding sessions- both enjoyable. Sunrise with Mt Kenya on the side, is a sight to behold. All up, a unique experience in viewing wildlife. Travellled through Kenya Budget Safaris- tour guide excellent. Staff of THE ARK also very good and helpful.

An amazing experience

I and my wife spent three days in Murchison Falls. Although being in the dry season, the park was full of game mainly on the shores of Nile River. I guess that during the wet season the scenery might be greener. Our camp lodge was very comfortable, calm and with an incredible view of the sunset sinking into the Nile. The staff has worked efficiently. Our guide from Cheetah Wildness Safaris was always attentive. I strongly advise navigate the Nile. The falls are powerful.
