Wildlife viewing in Serengeti National Park is good throughout the year, but certain areas are better at specific times. The dry season (from late June to September) offers the best wildlife viewing in general- with the wildebeest migration as its absolute highlight. The timing of the migration varies every year (the best chance of seeing it is during June and July) while the wildebeest calving is from late January to February.
The Serengeti's Southern plains are where the name of the park comes from. Huge endless grass plains stretch from Southern Seronera into the Ngorongoro Conservation area. The area is not as good for game out of the migration season as the central Seronera region, or the Western Corridor, but from December through to April the migration covers the entire area. February is a superb time of year to be here for the calving season when 8,000 wildebeest are born every day for a two week period! The only two permanent lodges here are Ndutu Lodge and Kusini Camp, however, all the mobile camps move down to the area for the whole period. Alex Walker’s Serian is perfect choice for this area, being close enough to the migration and far away from the other mobile camps. For a more migration intense location, Olakira, Nomads Serengeti Safari Camp and Serengeti Under Canvas work very well

About: Tanzania
An incredible safari country in the world.
Overall rating
5/5

Tanzania is a land blessed with an abundance of wildlife, panoramic vistas and some of the most kind, hospitable and gracious people in all of Africa. It remains untouched by time and is still as wild, rugged and untamed as ever.
Over 35% of its land is allocated to national parks and game and forest reserves. It is also home to the highest point in Africa – Mount Kilimanjaro – which measures in at 5895 meters or 19,341 feet. Tanzania is also a politically stable, safe country in which to travel. The proximity of so many stunning parks and conservation areas only adds to Tanzania’s appeal as a safari destination. Several parks and conservation areas can be visited in a few days, allowing visitors to take in a wide range of Tanzania’s landscapes and scenery in a relatively short period of time.

One of the Best Experiences I Have Ever Had
5/5

This safari was affordable and more than lived up to mine and my wife's expectations. Every safari lodge stay was beautiful, every game drive was wonderful with *so many* animals to see, the people we met were friendly, the weather was perfect; it really was a beautiful experience. We had Dennis as our driver and he was extremely friendly, professional, very informative, easy to talk to, organized and on time -- and a heck of a good driver.

I would recommend this outfit to anyone as they operate like a well-oiled machine. When I first started planning the trip, I was in contact with Noah and he was also very professional and extremely prompt with responses and very helpful with getting things set up. Additionally, regardless of the areas visited, I felt safe in the company of my driver and felt he was looking out for our well-being.

Things you should be prepared for: long drives on lots of bumpy roads; lots of (sometimes very pushy) salesman at many of your stops; have lots of cash for the potential extras, which can be very worth it but can be heavy on the pocket-book, especially if you're not carrying a lot of cash; additionally, have cash for souvenirs because you'll be wanting to buy or talked into buying at least a few; bring at least two different ways (i.e. cards) to acquire cash in the event one of the bank ATMs eats your card [thanks Barclay's].

South Africa - A luxury trip
5/5

We asked Martin at Kingfisher to put together a trip for 4 of us travelling from Cape Town, along the garden route & to include a visit to a Game Reserve. We let Martin make suggestions based on his knowledge of the area & of us & did not need to make any changes to his suggested itinerary. Our booking was handled efficiently & we were kept advised of everything at all times. The choice of places to stay & the accommodation arranged for us was beyond my expectations. They were diverse enabling us to enjoy a lot of what the Cape & Garden route has to offer, & all accommodation was top quality. This is the 3rd time I have used Kingfisher Safaris for my travels to Africa & I would have no hesitation in using them again.

Pembury Tours ticked all the boxes we requested for a safari and delivered an amazing experience
5/5

Pembury Tours have been really easy to communicate with and very prompt with organising. All our stop over locations were in beautiful settings and plenty to see and do! The Safari tour at Lalibela was amazing. We received 1st class hospitality and the accommodation was excellent! The staff were very welcoming and professional and with the expertise of our Ranger we managed to see 4 out of the big 5! We would go back tomorrow through Pembury Tours of course!

Good organisation
4/5

From the start, mister Shabani was very honest and puntcual. We were looking for the cheapest safari possible and found that with him. He picked us up at the airport the day before our trip and dropped us at our hotel, the guide picked us up again the next morning and in the end we were dropped back home. Very good service!
When the guide had some troubles paying the entrance fee, we payed it for him and mister Shabani refunded the money the next day, without further problems.

We are very enthusiastic about this company. The only complain we have, is about our guide. He was a very good driver and a good card player, but as a guide he wasn't very talkative. We had to ask everything, and the answers were always very short. Of course, he is not the only guide in the company. We talked to two others, and they seemed to have more knowledge on the topic.

We had a very nice trip, enjoyed the overnight in a great private iglo (even tough we payed only for camping) and were stunned by the national parks.
