The main attraction is the Chimp trekking, which is a very nice and interesting thing to do, but also a bit touristy and comparably expensive.

Wildlife and safari at its best!
Plenty of animals, beautiful sceneries, and the few people we met were very nice and friendly. A campsite on a hilltop was our choice: plenty of stars at night, romantic campfire, wonderful sunset and sunrise, but also very basic facilities, and lions might be around. If you want the more relaxed option, try the mid-range bandas or the upmarket lodge, both at Apoka. Self-drive from Kampala is doable (in dry season, at least), but it's a long, long drive. There are some tour operators from Kampala. Staff at the park is very helpful, you can find a driver, guard or cook if you like.
Kafue National Park, Birderwatchers Paradise, Big-game galore
Recently we spent 3 nights out of a 12 night safari at a camp along the Kafue River on the northern edge of the Kafue National Park. During the days we both boated along the Kafue River and drove into the park in Land Cruisers. The bird life along the river was amazing. I was able to identify with the help of the local guide over 70 bird species - Bee-eaters, Hornbills, Barbets, Africa Finfoot, Eagles, Geese, Herons, etc. Too numerous to list them all. The big game species were also very special. Along with Elephants, Wildebeest, Bushbucks, Red Lechwe, Warthog and other big game species, we also saw unique species not seen elsewhere on our travels. Such as Puku, Yellow Baboon, Velvet Monkey and Grey Defassa Waterbuck. While traveling in boats we had close encounters with Hippos and Crocs. On after dark drives we saw genet and serval's. As we were there in early June there were no bugs, and no rain. A perfect time and place to experience all that Africa has to offer.

It was a wonderful experience of a lifetime, to get immersed in nature and the wilderness.
We had visited Serengeti National Park with family in the month of March 2015. We were quite apprehensive that heavy rains will spoil our safari in the month of March which is rainy season in Serengeti. But that never happened and we were treated with wonderful sightings of large number of zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, giraffes, wild buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, birds and of course the big cats - Lions. Leopards and rhinos were elusive though. We are not allowed to drive off road, therefore the chances of seeing all wildlife are slim, but it is heartening to note that this way the pristine Savannah is preserved. We stayed at Serengeti Serena lodge which is situated in the middle of grasslands, with aesthetically designed cottages, wonderful staff and great food. We really enjoyed our stay there. We had booked the tour through Sunset Africa safari. Our driver and guide Mr. Ben was quite knowledgeable and friendly. The vehicle was a 4x4 Land Cruiser with openable roof and was in good condition. I am interested in wildlife photography and managed to click many photos which have been loaded on Flickr. Please do have a look. It was definitely a memorable Safari and would definitely recommend for you which I am sure you will enjoy. Cheers!

A true wildlife experience
Cheetah, lions, elephants and a lot of antelopes in a beautiful scenery, plus the colorful Samburu tribes.
I recommend the overnight tented camps.

Great wildlife, birds, and scenery. Stayed just outside the park and drove in.

Amazing experience!
We stayed at Elsa's Kopje, which was an absolutely extraordinary lodge with outstanding guides and spectacular views. As our first stop on a safari honeymoon, it delivered in spades. The wildlife was great, though different than the Mara with not necessarily the same diversity. The birds were incredible!

Uganda's main safari park. Worth a visit if you are in Uganda, but I think there are better opportunities outside Uganda for big game. They changed the rules recently so drivers get fined if they go off the trails. I appreciate that there is probably an environmental reason for this, but it meant that we didn't get very close to any of the animals
