Kilimangiaro, the roof of savannah
Overall rating
5/5

Among the parks we visited in Kenya, Amboseli clearly stand out for the background of Kilimangiaro. The mountain, nearly 6000 meters tall, snow covered on the top, is in beautiful contrast with the low vegetation of the park. It is quite easy to take a classic photo of elefants in front of the mountain.
Trees are also beautiful, looks like a Batik picture. The wildlife is rich. Many big animals and birds.
The weather (end December) was cloudy in the morning and then improves from the first afternoon to evening.
If you like to take pictures I suggest you to use a zoom like an 80-400 mm 2.8 on an FX sensor. If you shoot APS-C it is better to have at least a 200 mm zoom. Note that you cannot use a tripod (cannot go off the jeep) so image stabilization or fast glass are a must.

No words can explain the freedom of how I felt witnessing the wildlife. Have you ever seen a woman shed tears from the emotional experience I had at Savuti? Beyond my dreams, beyond any words. Sometimes the heart carries what words cannot.

Here I saw wild dog and was amazed at their pack loyalty to the alpha male and female. Then to witness an almost kill by their stalking was something not captured on film but my eyes and mind contain what a camera cannot do. The scenic beauty was wild and untamed. Lodging, guide, food, staff -- all wonderful.

I loved seeing bat eared fox, the Tau Pan lion pride, the wild cat, and the birds were amazing. Hearing the lion pride at night was magical. The lodging was very comfortable; the staff made me feel special; the food was incredible. The scenery beauty was outstanding.

Southern Serengeti was better for interesting wildlife sightings but not as scenic. Seronera area was good also but a lot more tourists

Not as good wildlife sighting as the other parks we saw but still very good. Many more monkeys and baboons than other places. We saw some elephants in the dense forest as well
