Probably less touristy compared to Kenya and Tanzania, but still too many to my taste. But hey, all tourists want to be alone with the animals, don't they? :)

The combination of walking safaris (not always available in other places) and ridden ones (4x4 or boat) allow you for a taste of both close encounters with single animals in the bush, and the impressive abundance of herds.

The Fish River Canyon is awe inspiring. Nature has created to canyons on top of one another here: A techtonic canyon, with an erosion canyon inside it. And the variety of succulent plants that are able to survive this harsh climate is amazing!

It's 10 o'clock in the morning at Chudop waterhole. Springbok and impalas are at the water. Shy kudus stand at the edge of bushes, slowly coming closer. Nervous giraffes double and triple check their surroundings before bending way down for a drink. Thirsty zebras come trotting right into the water, causing wonderful stripey reflections. Where else can you find such a huge selection of animals coming to drink together. It is possible to spend hours just sitting at a waterhole, watching the comings and goings. Playful elephants, goofy guinea fowl, a bad tempered rhino and shuffling wildebeest all take their turns. It is a wildlife paradise!

Review about Namib-Naukluft National Park by bianca

Landscapes. The Namib Naukluft is all about landscapes. The colours of the sand dunes at sunrise, the rugged rock formations of the Kuiseb canyon and the ancient leaves of the Welwitchia plant all invite you to get out and explore this fascinating desert. My favourite place is Dead Vlei, where camelthorn trees that have been dead for 500 years stretch their black limbs towards an impossibly blue sky. The scene reminds me of a Dali painting and I am always double checking if their are any clocks draped over the tree branches.

The Caprivi is very different from the rest of Namibia. It's marshes and great rivers full of hippos and crocodiles are surrounded by lush vegetation, which is home to a huge variety of birds too.

I truly enjoyed the park in Hwange, and it was very apparent why it is such a desired safari destination. I saw a lot of wildlife, which was not only varied, but seemed thriving. It is an interesting mix of flora and fauna, and I hope to be able to return soon.

Have been there 05+06. + Nice park+wildlife,Accomodation. - rather busy park
Overall rating
4/5

Wildlife,Accomodation and transportation very good. Unfortunately the park is rather busy with quite a lot of visitors that is why you don't really feel like in the wilderness. But it is not yet mass tourism.
