We had an awesome experience.
We did a 7 day budget tour. I would suggest to upgrade into sopa lodge. My friends and I dont like camping so it was a good option. It was still affordable and more comfortable I would say. We had a 4x4 jeep which I would recommend than the vam because the terrain was rugged. We saw some couple of vans that got stuck in the mud. We did not have this problem. We had all inclusive foods. We had all day water. In general we enjoyed our first safari trip.

Our safari was amazing! We did a 5-day private safari and visited Tanrangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyare. Planning with James was great and uncomplicated, he took our every wish into account and at the end we even got a free upgrade for accommodation.
Our two guides Ben and Rama were great and made our trip unforgettable. They both explained a lot to us about the culture, nature and of course the animals. We were in a good mood throughout and had a lot of fun during the transfer times too.
The food and catering were great. The fridge in the car with soft drinks, water, wine and of course beer was always available to us.
Our expectations were exceeded in every respect. We would do a safari with Polecat again at any time, really great!

My husband did all the organising and booking with Ronald so I can't comment on that, but I never heard him complain and Ronald did sound super helpful and easy to communicate with... as for pricing, ours was a little more expensive as we chose to stay in nicer places, whereas if you want to save money on accommodation they do have cheaper options... during my husband's research he read many reviews that spoke highly of their guide Bob, I told him to see if we could request Bob, and we successfully were allocated Bob which was the greatest thing that could have happened for us! We highly recommend Bob, he is the King Pin of Uganda! He has great knowledge of Uganda, of the tour, great navigation skills, lots of connections with the locals and other tour operators (we had a frustrating boat ride experience so for the 2nd one we asked if he could see if we could pay someone extra to do a private boat ride for us which he made happen)! Don't be offended that Bob is on his phone a lot, like I swear sometimes more than 5 calls an hour, because this is just him making magic happen and making sure that things are ready for you as you arrive places. He is a very easy going, positive man that loves life and wants to share that love and happiness with you. It's not just a job for Bob, it is his passion and he truly cares about your experience being the best nature will possibly provide for you, as of course, he can not control nature, but he managed to get us the big 5 during our 8 day tour!! We would recommend choosing minimum 12 days just FYI, 8 days just felt like not enough time, even though we still did everything, we could have easily done more in such a beautiful country in the company of such an amazing man! Bob is also so caring and considerate as I have a lot of degenerative disorders and even though he didn't know of any of my illnesses and even though on the outside I look young and healthy, he believed me and tried to understand me when I told him I am in a lot of pain every day and that I will need a shorter hike for the Gorillas and he felt sympathy for me and again worked magic to get us the 2nd closest hike which still had a silver back which still ended up being a 5hr round trip which please do yourself a favour, even if you are healthy, get a porter, they support you and you support them by feeding their family so it's win win. But yeah I could go on and about how wonderful our experience was but you'll see for yourself.

Two weeks in September/October 2024, we traveled to Kenya. Last time we used a travel company for the entire trip, but this time we put together our own trip. For the safari, we received quotes from 7 different providers, and Ways of Africa came out on top in terms of price, logistics, and customization. I can’t praise Paul and Ways of Africa enough! We started the process about 8 months in advance. Paul was the only one who called while sending the offer. It was very reassuring. We had some adjustments that he handled excellently, and he even bought train tickets for us that we needed later in the holiday.
After our first night at the hotel, it was time for the safari. Paul and his lovely wife met us in the hotel reception with a gift (!), a quick review of the trip, and handed over the train tickets. I have never experienced such good service. He introduced us to the driver, Wilson, who was warm and welcoming. Everything was set for a fantastic trip.
Since we have friends who work and have lived in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, we had some adjustments during the safari trip. Wilson handled this with a big smile. He was experienced and had a lot of knowledge about both the animals and the area. We couldn’t have had a better experience. The drive from Nairobi to Ol Pejeta and back took a few hours, but it was never boring. Wilson guided us with information about the places we passed, we had great conversations, and even sang along in the car 😊
