Excellent private safari with great value for money and unforgettable wildlife moments
Before choosing Enkarewa, we contacted several safari operators in Kenya. We finally decided on Enkarewa because of their friendly and personal approach, the clarity in communication, and the excellent value for money they offered from the very beginning.
The communication prior to the trip was very smooth and in Spanish, which we really appreciated as we are not fluent in English. They were honest, attentive to our tight budget, and never tried to push unnecessary extras. On the contrary, they focused on making sure we enjoyed the experience. They even upgraded one of our accommodations compared to the initial budget option.
We did a 3-night safari (2 nights in Masai Mara and 1 in Naivasha). We were picked up early in Nairobi and already did our first game drive that same afternoon. The owner of the company, Nelly, was very kind and attentive — she personally came on the first day to introduce herself and present our guide, which gave us a lot of confidence.
We chose a van to reduce costs. It had a pop-up roof, but we would recommend choosing a jeep if the budget allows it, as it provides better access to more challenging roads, especially when leaving the main tracks. The van had a fridge, but it was not prepared for use and we did not use it, and the USB charging ports were not working, which was disappointing after full days of safari taking photos (fortunately, we had power banks). Overall, the vehicle could have been in better condition.
The safari was private (just the two of us as a couple) and conducted in Spanish. It was comfortable for us, although we believe that paying extra for a Spanish-speaking guide is not essential if you have a basic level of English, as there is not constant conversation during the safari.
Our guide was Brian. There was a small initial misunderstanding regarding pick-up times, as we discussed it with the owner instead of directly with him, which created a slightly uncomfortable moment. Aside from this, he explained the animals and surroundings well and showed great dedication in tracking wildlife, especially lions, which were the animals we were most excited to see. He made a huge effort to reach them, even when road conditions were difficult.
We saw the Big Five, as well as cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, elephants, lions and lionesses, some of them very close. We also witnessed very raw and authentic moments, such as animals next to their recently killed prey or feeding on it.
One of the most special moments of the entire safari was witnessing a lion and a lioness mating, completely alone, with no other vehicles around. It was an intimate, natural and respectful scene, truly unique and absolutely unforgettable.
Overall, the experience was excellent and very well organized. We give it a 9/10, only deducting one point due to the initial misunderstanding and the condition of the vehicle, which could be improved. Despite this, we would definitely repeat with Enkarewa Luxury Safaris and highly recommend them.

Fantastic!
From the moment I arrived at the Airport I felt welcomed by my guide Ayelew. We explored the beautiful churches of Lalibela, Ethiopia. Ayelew, gave great descriptions of the history of the location, building of the churches, and answered all of my questions. He was great with taking my photos to capture memories. I highly recommend visiting Lalibela with Ayelew as your guide!

Stories, Wildlife, and Heart: Luxury Tented Safari in Tanzania
Tito welcomed us on the first morning with a warm smile, sharing a story about tracking elephants as a child with his father. “I learned to read the land before I could read a book,” he said. That same curiosity and patience guided every moment of our six-day safari, from Tarangire to Serengeti and Ngorongoro.
On the very first drive, elephants ambled past, brushing their trunks gently. Zebras raced in playful bursts, dust rising behind them. Tito quietly pointed out a leopard resting in a tree, flicking its tail like it was aware of our admiration, and explained how leopards taught him patience as a boy. Giraffes stretched high to feed, buffalo surveyed the horizon, and lion cubs tumbled under their mother’s watchful eyes, each animal performing its role perfectly in the rhythm of the bush.
Between drives, Tito shared personal stories. He told us about his family in a nearby village, teaching him respect for wildlife and the land, and how he now helps younger guides learn the same. Emanuel at Makaro Travel coordinated every detail, checking in before and during the trip, making planning feel effortless and reassuring.
One afternoon, while watching wildebeest herds move steadily across the Serengeti plains, Tito shared how these migrations shaped his childhood and inspired him to protect the land. At sunrise, the balloon ride lifted us above the golden horizon, and he laughed remembering his first balloon flight, terrified but amazed by the view.
During a night drive in Ngorongoro, hyenas prowled silently while bush babies leapt among the trees. Tito made sure the vehicle was stocked with cold water, snacks, and a refrigerator, telling us, “A comfortable guest is a happy guest — even under the stars.”
By the end of six days, we felt we had traveled not just across Tanzania’s wild landscapes, but into Tito’s world — his childhood, his family, and his love for the bush. Emanuel’s careful planning and Tito’s expertise made this safari immersive, personal, and unforgettable.

Luxury Safari with Thomas: Elephants, Leopards, and More
We began our safari staying at Marera Valley Lodge in Karatu, a peaceful and comfortable base after flying in from Zanzibar. From the first morning, Thomas, our guide, set the tone for an exceptional experience. He planned each day meticulously, reading the land, tracking animals, and positioning us so that every sighting felt natural and uninterrupted.
On the plains of Tarangire, elephants moved with quiet grace, gently touching one another with their trunks. Giraffes reached high into acacia trees, nibbling leaves with delicate precision. Zebras raced energetically across the open grasslands while buffalo stood strong, alert to every sound and movement around them.
In the Serengeti, wildebeest herds moved steadily across golden plains, lions prowled or stretched in the shade, cheetahs crouched low, ready to sprint, and leopards rested elegantly on rocky kopjes, observing the land from above. Thomas constantly explained what we were seeing, adding insights into behavior, territory, and interactions that made every encounter meaningful.
Night game drives in Tarangire were electrifying. With headlights and spotlights, Thomas guided us safely through the dark, revealing hyenas moving stealthily and small nocturnal animals hopping through the underbrush. The vehicle was well stocked with plenty of cold water, snacks, and a working refrigerator, making every drive comfortable and convenient.
The hot air balloon over the Serengeti at sunrise was surreal, floating silently above herds and taking in sweeping landscapes from a unique perspective. Visiting a Maasai village offered a respectful and fascinating glimpse into local culture.
We overnighted in a combination of luxury tented camps in the wilderness, Serengeti Safari Lodge, and Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge, each providing comfort, style, and easy access to wildlife. Ending the safari back at Marera Valley Lodge gave a perfect sense of closure before flying home.
Over nine days, we experienced the wildlife of Tanzania in a way that was personal, immersive, and expertly guided. Thomas’s knowledge, professionalism, and attention to detail made every moment unforgettable.
