Top tier tour agency and the best guide in the Serengeti
5/5

We did a 6 day safari in early March, including Tarangire, Serengeti (incl Ndutu) and Ngorogoro. This was a trip of a lifetime, filled with thrilling wildlife sightings and an immersion into Tanzanian culture.

This was only possible because we had the best guide, Filex. He is incredibly professional, knowledgeable and entertaining. Highly recommend requesting him when booking your safari.

He was able to spot all kinds of wildlife - animals and birds (eg he was the first amongst guides to spot the rare black rhinos in Ngorogoro, spotted lions in trees, and rare birds), and positioned our vehicle to maximise our visibility (important if you want to take photos and videos). He also seemed to have endless knowledge on all the wildlife and shared the facts gradually in a digestible way. He is a true experienced professional - eg seems to know everyone at the sites or tour guides and collects info about the best wildlife locations, sets up our delicious packed lunches carefully, and even organised the collection of some items we forgot at our lodge. He shared stories about Tanzanian life and culture that were educational and entertaining.

Wakanda is an outstanding agency. Ushma was incredibly helpful in organising our itinerary, including phone calls and messages on weekends. She also organised a car transfer from Nairobi to Arusha and a tour of Arusha. Her regular communication throughout was also much appreciated.

The lodges and camps that we stayed at were all incredible - eg delicious food, excellent staff, and well located so we can experience the wildlife even after our game drives finished for the day (eg birds flying around the sites, zebras walking by, countless sounds of lions and hyenas at night!).

We highly recommend this agency and Filex for trip of a lifetime.

The best travel agency for a safari. They really made our honeymoon the most unforgettable trip of our lives. Our guide Gasper was the most patient, kind and dedicated person we could had. We can only thank the entire Kilimanjaro team for making our first safari an out of this world experience. We are 100% sure that we will be doing more trips with them.

Excellent Communication + Professional Service
5/5

While there are numerous travel agencies throughout Nairobi offering more or less the same tour packages with the same variations but at different prices, what sets Baboon Budget Safaris apart is the quality of their service and reliability. Initially, I was a bit skeptical since I couldn't really see a difference between their offerings as compared to numerous others, but I believe I secured the best / maximum value for the safari tour of my choice - and it was almost entirely spectacular (more details shortly).

From the very beginning of my planning stages till my arrival in Nairobi and then even during the tour and after, Jemimah's communication with me was top notch - always prompt, courteous and very considerate. I had the pleasure of visiting their office and met quite a few members of their team in person as well - props to Kim and Paul as well, for their kindness and assistance. The entire team works hard to ensure that their operators, driver/guides and hotel/lodge staff work cohesively together throughout the tour, and I witnessed that whilst in their office as well as while being on tour. Jemimah, in particular, went out of her way to assist me with all the necessary information and advice, and helped ease my visit to Kenya (above and beyond just the safari), which can be a little overwhelming for foreign tourists at times.

The tour itself was fantastic - but bear in mind that when one visits during the low or shoulder seasons, one tends to change groups / vehicles almost daily, since there are many different groups, big and small, that commence and end daily, and not everyone chooses the same duration. In such cases, your driver/guide of the day will ideally keep you updated about pick-up/drop-off schedules as well as transfers, and this can be a little confusing at times when there are many different destinations within one's itinerary. But Jemimah was always available by phone to ensure that all such transitions are smooth. Furthermore, in one particular instance, when a particular set of game drives that I had signed up for weren't up to the mark, Jemimah and Paul even went to the extreme of taking decisive and corrective action right away, and delivered exactly that which I had signed up for. This level of professionalism on their part was unanticipated, but highly, HIGHLY commendable.

Otherwise, despite it being the low season, I was very fortunate that I managed to see the Big 5 (and many, many, many more animals and birds, as well as stellar landscapes) throughout my tour. I had chosen the 7 day tour, although I do believe the same can be achieved in 6 days, if one doesn't spend an entire day in Naivasha and just opts for the boat tour / Hell's Gate visit as day-time activities enroute Nakuru / Amboseli. Nevertheless, the accommodations that Baboon Budget had arranged for me were very comfortable in each of the locations.

For those who can, I would recommend an upgrade from Camp Mitimingi in Maasai Mara to something better, just because it gets super-saturated, and when you have early morning game drives, you want to ensure that you are in a more calm and comfortable setting instead of being rushed through meals and check-ins.

Otherwise, in conclusion, I have nothing but the best wishes for team Baboon Budget (especially Jemimah and Paul), and I highly recommend choosing this agency to ensure that you get the most bang for your buck, regardless of the tour you choose.

Best regards,

Sid.

Unforgettable Safari Experience in Tanzania โ€“ With the Best Guide: Michael!
5/5

Our week-long safari in Tanzania was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, our guide Michael was there to greet us at the airport, and he remained with us throughout the entire journey, ensuring that every aspect of our adventure was seamless.

We explored four breathtaking parksโ€”the Southern and Central Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, and Tarangireโ€”each offering stunning landscapes and incredible wildlife encounters. In addition to the safari, we had the unique opportunity to visit and meet three local tribes, which was an absolutely fascinating and worthwhile experience.

Every aspect of the trip exceeded our expectations. The lodges were excellent, offering comfort that perfectly complemented our adventure. But what truly made this trip unforgettable was Michael. He was the perfect guide for us - simply outstanding. Sharply intelligent, and deeply knowledgeable about Tanzanian wildlife, culture, and history, he enriched our experience in every possible way. He struck the perfect balance between being engaging and giving us space when we needed it.

What we appreciated most was that he was always honest and insightfulโ€”never giving us exaggerated or unfounded information, but instead offering genuine, well-informed insights into the wildlife and ecosystems we encountered. Beyond that, our conversations on Tanzanian culture, law, statehood, and religion added an unexpected but deeply rewarding dimension to the trip.

One of Michaelโ€™s greatest strengths was his ability to adapt quickly and problem-solve on the go. When we didnโ€™t see as much wildlife as weโ€™d hoped in the Central Serengeti, he swiftly arranged a change in schedule and permits, allowing us an extra day in the Southern Serengetiโ€”which turned out to be absolutely magical!

Final Thoughts:
This was truly the trip of a lifetime, and we owe so much of it to Michaelโ€™s expertise, professionalism, and personality. If youโ€™re planning a safari in Tanzania, we wholeheartedly recommend traveling with him. We would go anywhere with Michael as our guide, and weโ€™re already dreaming of our next adventure!

xPlore Plus are exceptional with arrangements! When itinerary changed, they went beyond expectations
5/5

As a retired travel agent, I was asked to assist with inbound guests from the USA for travel Zimbabwe, South Africa and Rwanda. Service and attention received from both Naomi and Rika was exceptional. At the time of personal changes to itinerary, both ladies went out of their way to assist and confirm at the least possible inconvenience and cost. Having personally travelled with xPlore Plus to the Serengeti, without hesitation, I processed the travel details through their company
