Fast and clear communication
5/5

We had good communication with Gems of Africa beforehand. The price was reasonable and our stay at Bakubung was very good. Beautiful lodge, good food, and wonderful game drives in Pilanesberg. We even saw elephants at the lodge!

5 Days of Uganda primates and wildlife
5/5

I had never traveled to Uganda before; the only thing I knew was that it’s close to Kenya. However, my friend in Kenya convinced me that I could fly to Uganda, and he would come by bus from Nakuru, Kenya, so we could meet up for a gorilla safari and wildlife adventure. We had five excellent days in Queen Elizabeth National Park, where we did game drives in the Katwe Plains. We were also convinced to reach some crater lakes. After that, our guide drove us to the Buhoma sector at Gorilla Mist Lodge for an overnight stay, waiting to track the gorillas. The experience was amazing—seeing gorillas in the wild, one of which had a baby, was unbelievable. The creatures were so close to humans. When we turned back from the trek, our guide Moses was just waiting for us. Thank you, Moses, and Roads of Adventure Safaris

It was a good experience, but I think the organization could have been better!
4/5

They didn’t provide the 5-day safari itinerary in advance. While I was already on the tour, I was informed that I wouldn’t be spending two nights in the Serengeti, and if I chose to, there would be an extra charge of US$145. Other than that, the guide Peter did an excellent job, the chef prepared delicious meals, and I was lucky enough to see many animals!

However, the car broke down one day, and we had to wait over three hours for it to be repaired. On another day, we waited almost two hours at the park entrance due to documentation issues.

Amazing Safari tour for the first time, brian indigo the best tour guide
5/5

I have just returned from our safari, and we are still struggling to find the words to describe how truly magical this experience was. From start to finish, every detail was impeccably handled by the Savanah Woods team.

Our guide, Brian, was an absolute superstar. His knowledge of the wildlife, ecosystems, and local culture was astounding. He had a keen eye for spotting animals we would have easily missed, from a leopard perfectly camouflaged in a tree to a herd of elephants silently crossing the path. He wasn't just a driver; he was a passionate conservationist who made every game drive an exciting adventure.

The accommodations were fine, a budget but not compromised one. The lodges were comfortable, the food was delicious, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

We saw the Big Five and so much more. But beyond the incredible animal sightings, it was the little moments—the silence of the landscape, the brilliance of the stars at night, the warmth of the people—that truly captured our hearts.

I felt safe, well-cared-for, and completely immersed in the beauty of Africa.

Once in a life time memory!
5/5

Our experience with Safari Goats was absolutely unforgettable! From the very start, Grace and Cilas went above and beyond to make sure our group felt comfortable, welcomed, and excited for the adventure ahead. They were not only incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife and landscape but also genuinely passionate about sharing it with us.

Grace was warm and engaging, always ready to answer our questions with a smile, while Cilas impressed us with his deep understanding of animal behavior and the local environment. Together, they made every moment feel special — whether it was spotting elusive animals, explaining fascinating details about the ecosystem, or making sure we were safe and cared for at every step.

Their hospitality was exceptional, and their enthusiasm made the entire safari come alive. We left feeling inspired, informed, and grateful for such an authentic experience. I can’t recommend Safari Goats — and especially Grace and Cilas — highly enough. They turned a great trip into a truly once-in-a-lifetime memory!

Well prepared and professional
5/5

We took the 7-day trip to Maasai Mara, Nakuru, Naivasha, and Amboseli.
The trip was well organized, and our tour guide Raymond was excellent — he had plenty of knowledge, which made the journey both enjoyable and informative.

I highly recommend booking with them.

Evans is an incredibly kind and amazing guide, always caring, attentive, and focused on you.
5/5

We spent three amazing days at the Taita Hills Sanctuary, spotting animals and soaking up the wild. Evans was with us the whole time, and honestly, he was the reason our experience was unforgettable. From the very first moment, he wanted to know what we hoped to see and what we wanted to get out of the trip. We got to see every animal we’d wished for and learned so much about how they live in their natural habitat. We enjoyed two full days of safari and a half day when we arrived, and even added a night safari (an extra paid activity offered by the hotel) for that extra thrill. We had no problem communicating in English, and Evans was perfectly understandable at all times. Even my husband, who has a hearing impairment, was able to communicate and understand him without any problem. I would describe it in three words: incredible, special, unforgettable. Thank you for this amazing honeymoon!

Savannah Woods Safaris – 6-Day Safari (Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru & Amboseli)
2/5

I chose Savannah Woods Safaris because I wanted to support a smaller, local company, and the communication with Lucy beforehand was excellent. Looking back, however, this might have been a mistake.

I had booked a 7-person group safari, but in reality, we were mixed together with people from different companies, and many of us stayed in completely different accommodations. At times, there were even eight of us in the vehicle, which made it quite cramped. Because we were all staying in different lodges, we lost a lot of time every day picking up and dropping off people — it often felt more like a hop-on hop-off bus than a group safari. Guests were frequently exchanged along the way, which made it difficult to build any real connection within the group.

Unfortunately, I got a stomach issue already at the first lodge (Jambo Mara), which lasted for two days. The two other guests staying at the same place also felt sick afterwards, so I suspect the food or hygiene might have been an issue. Lucy did check in once during the trip, but after that, I didn’t hear from her again.

Our driver – I hesitate to call him a “guide” – was careful and drove safely, but he seemed rather bored and disengaged. We received very little information about the animals, and often started so late in the morning that we missed most of the early wildlife activity.

The Masai Mara itself was spectacular and definitely worth visiting; the hot air balloon ride was a real highlight. However, since the guides all share sightings among themselves, we probably would have seen the same animals even with any other tour operator.

Lake Nakuru, on the other hand, was disappointing and involved a lot of unnecessary driving for very little reward. I would personally skip it next time. Amboseli can be stunning, especially early in the morning when Mount Kilimanjaro is clear — unfortunately, we arrived too late to enjoy that view.

On a positive note, the Amboseli Sopa Lodge was fantastic — a truly beautiful place to stay.

In hindsight, I would rather book with a larger, more established company, or even through a European operator, to ensure better organization and reliability. It’s really important to confirm that all travelers in the group are on the same itinerary and staying in the same accommodations; otherwise, you lose a lot of valuable time waiting around.

I can’t recommend Savannah Woods Safaris based on my experience. No one ever asked me for feedback afterwards, and after the booking was completed, I felt pretty much left on my own — which was disappointing, especially as a solo female traveler.
