Such a pleasure to deal with, on every possible level.
This was our fourth safari (fifth trip) with Compass Odyssey (CO). As usual, Darren and Kate did not disappoint.
Honesty; integrity; reliability; responsiveness; patience; knowledge; expertise; kindness; safety; cost effectiveness; attention to detail… I could go on and on; but, in essence, excellence is what characterizes them, and this is why we keep going back.
This was a particularly tricky safari to organize for various reasons. Nevertheless, CO guided us through the process, ever mindful of our wants and needs, with zero pressure to eventually travel.
You cannot go wrong with CO. We believe they are the best.
This safari was for myself, my adult daughter and one of her friends. The experience was tailored to suit us perfectly. We loved the itinerary, the camps, the guides, and of course the ANIMALS, including GIZA the black leopard!

Terrible experience we wouldn't wish on anyone
We have had a terrible and incredibly stressful experience with Congema Safaris. Everything started off great until they got a deposit from us and then it became incredibly difficult to get any communication from them, for months. We found out that nothing on the itinerary was booked for us by contacting hotels and providers directly. When we requested our deposit be refunded, they said they would do this after almost 2 months and explained they used OUR money to book other groups in for a trip that was cancelled. They seemed quite happy to let us think our holiday was all booked for months, which makes us believe they were scamming us. They have not refunded our money and are ignoring our communications again, which makes us believe we won't receive it. Please make sure to look for well reviewed providers so that you don't go through all the stress and struggle we have.

They are good but can organise themselves better.
Our guide Andrew, also known as Kamou, was extraordinary. He was incredibly patient with all our questions about wildlife and beyond, and his overall knowledge made the trip special. Never missed an opportunity for a good animal sighting.
I would definitely request him as our guide for our next visit to Northern Kenya. He’s a total rockstar!
The locations — Mara, Nakuru, and Naivasha — were all breathtaking and truly speak for themselves.
*Food*
Meals were fairly standard across all locations: boiled, fried, or sautéed vegetables, rice, lentils, and chicken or beef. Nothing stood out in terms of flavor.
*Overall*: It was a great experience.
*Areas for Improvement with Jocky*
1. *Pickups*: On the day of hotel pickup, we had to follow up multiple times. One co-traveler wasn’t picked up at all and only joined us 2 hours later.
2. *Itinerary Changes*: Plans with Jocky often seem to change last-minute based on logistics. On the last day, drop-offs to hotels/JKIA were inconsistent — some of us got a separate car, others were booked an Uber/Bolt. Eventually, we all got dropped off as promised.
3. *Accommodation*: For the price Jocky charged, the accommodations were below average. I recommend customizing your stay — photos online can be misleading.
*Accommodation Notes:*
- *Masai Mara - Mara Lenchada Tented Camp*: Very basic. Bathroom was run-down. Lights are off from 11:30 PM to 4:30 AM, which seems standard for Mara camps. Bring a torch/phone light.
- *Nakuru - Hill Court Hotel*: Cold morning with only lukewarm water. Dinner and breakfast buffet were decent. We were originally booked at Nakuru Buraha Zenoni
Hotel — not sure how it compares.
- *Naivasha - Chambai Hotel*: We got a good 2-bedroom flat for 3 people. However, no fan or AC made it warm with poor air circulation. Keeping windows open meant dealing with mosquitoes and traffic noise all night.
Overall, we had a great experience, but accommodation and logistics need work.

Jocky's strength is in their Safari and Guides!
Our overall Kenya Safari experience was a huge treat. The wildlife, the stories, the history, the people, culture all a hit.
A big shoutout to our Safari Guide Andrew/ Kamao! What a storyteller! While the safaris were rewarding intself the stories brought to life scientific facts, local lores, histories and myths. Kamao clearly loves the Safari and is not dropping a chance to keep the adventure at an all time high for his guests. A total fun person with a natural gift to connect to people.
Some areas which we felt could use improvements are accomodation, variety in local food, a better sense of organisation and transperancy.
Accomodation in Mara was very basic, could definitely be better in terms of food and hygiene. Naivasha too,they could consider options as there are many stays with better facilities.
Also as a tour company keeping guests posted on what to expect in terms of weather, what to pack, providing stay options,better communication and organisation can help Jocky up their services.

Wonderful safari but do not recommend
Do not recommend.
Good: Wonderful safari with skilled wildlife driver. We enjoyed what we would like to see, great river crossing, big 5 animals, etc.
Bad: 1. Office response is not speedy after we paid the balance.
2. The unacceptable thing is the office changed our camp without any information. Even I pushed them to provide the details and explanation, they still not tell me the new camp’s name. Please image you will be taken to an unknown place at wildlife park, what do you think?!

Best experience of our lives with perfect tour operator - Big 5 and more!
We have dreamed about visiting Tanzania for a long time, and we choose Meru Slopes for our Private 8-day tour because of the good reviews that we had read online.
We are very happy with our choice, the trip couldn't be better!!
We started our safari in Lake Manyara NP, where we were able to spot a lot of wildlife (baboons, giraffes, elephants, lions and much more).
Then we continued with Serengeti NP, were we spotted hundreds of animals, inluding a close look to the Big Cats (lions, leopards, cheetas).
At Serengeti we were also able to see the Great Migration, a marvel of nature, including witnessing the famous crossing of river Mara.
Then we proceeded to Ngorongoro Crater, where we saw all the Big 5 in a span of minutes (including 5 Black Rhinos).
The last park that we visited is Tarangire NP, the paradise of elephants and baobab trees.
At the end of the trip we came home with hundreds of photos and videos (including stunning scenes like lioness hunting and river crossing), a lot of touching memories and the desire to come back again.
The trip was very well organized, rooms were comfortable and food was delicious. All the staff was very friendly and welcoming.
A special thanks goes to our driver and safari guide Omari, extremely expert in animals and also a very good company for the trip.
The way he was able to spot all animals was magical.
Also thanks to Almachius for assisting us with all our questions before the trip, with kindness and professionality.
We highly reccomend this trip and tour operator for unforgettable memories, and will sure come back as soon as we can!

Phenomenal trip with all the animal sightings we had hoped for and more
We went with Safari Soles in August 2026. Our driver was Fadhil, and we had a 5.5 day safari, with 1.5 days in northern serengeti, 2 in central serengeti, 1 in ngorongoro crater, and 1 day in tarangire.
Fadhil was the most amazing guide. He was so good at finding animals, always positioned the car perfectly for amazing views and pictures (even when tons of safari cars were also in the way), was very knowledgable about the park and the animals, and was a very kind-hearted individual. When we return to Tanzania, I hope to have him as my guide again.
Safari Soles was a great tour company - when planning our trip, they were very accommodating in creating our custom trip; once we landed in Tanzania, they handled everything from airport to airport; any small issues we faced on the way, they were immediately responsive, considerate, and accommodating.
Overall, we had a 10/10 experience, largerly in part to Fadhil. We would use Fadhil and Safari Soles again and highly recommend to all.
