Review about Sabi Sand Nature Reserve by Donal Heffernan

Two tours a day, early morning and late afternoon into night tours. Thus avoiding the midday heat. it was dark when we returned to the compound so were looking for smaller animals via a spotter sitting in a chair at the very front of the vehicle with a spotlight. We spotted a rare owl one night hooting loudly. No light polution so the stars were plentiful and bright.
Also the tour operators supplied extra surpises, like one morning, a breakfast served in a field as the sun rises.
Another day there were drinks and snacks again served in a field as the sun set.
Also Ice creams were served one midday to cool us down. These were lovely unexpected touches.
We were allowed out of the vehicles for these treats and were able to stretch our legs.
We saw four of the big five animals, the leopard staying out of sight. Of coure plenty of other animal too.

Review about Kruger National Park by Donal Heffernan
Overall rating
4/5

Fabulous place especially if it is your first safari
It is a long day from 5.00 am to 3.30 pm and the dirt track roads were being paired because of extensive rain two weeks before we arrived. Some roads were closed.
The guides were very informative and took us different routes each day,
The vehicles were very clean and well maintained. We were not allowed out of the vehicles in the park.
During the two days we spotted 4 of the 5 main preditor animals. The leopard stayed hidden!
We came back to the main areas / gates for breakfast and lunch breaks which we bought from cafes and shops.

About: Anakao
Brilliant lodge in a superb environment. Catering variable, Guide needs more training
Overall rating
4/5

The lodge and rooms are excellent. Location is brilliant & wildlife superb although the boutique-lions did not look genuinely wild.
Catering was variable - at times excruciatingly slow although all the staff were very pleasant. Dietary requirement catering was variable but the menus were disappointingly 'samey'.
Our guide was a likeable fellow but needs more training. Particularly poor were knowledge of Karoo biome vegetation and birds. Long, rambling selected explanations - repeated verbatim - are not what people with some knowledge and 6 drives require.
Having said that, we will probably return despite the eye-watering (for a South African) price tag.

S A a vibrant colourful scenic country
Overall rating
5/5

South Aftica is a must see country.
Firstly for the wildlife and the scenic areas where the wild animals live. Absolutely beautiful and an unforgetable place.
Sabi Sands was my favourite safari park, as the vehicles went off the dirt tracks and into the fields where the animals were sighted.
The compound and glamping accomodation was inside the wildlife area, thus easier to be near the animals at sunrise and sunset when they are most visible. The accomodation and food here were outstanding.
Secondly, to see Johanesburg city centre (a no go area) and surronding area via a tour guide who knew where to go and where not to go.
Soweto and surrounding townships are full of history including the street where both Mandella and Archbishop Tutu both lived
Finally we flew an internal flight to Capetown and enjoyed a two day guided tour to Table Mountain, Penguin Beach, a boat tour to see the seals and a drive down to the Cape of Good Hope. Then we hired our own car and visited Hermanus, and the wine touring areas Stellenbosch and Franshoek. All were well worth seeing. Capetown is safer than Jo burg. Jo burg is mainly the gateway to the safari parks.

About: Tanzania
Beautiful country, great food, lovely people. Many become rafiki's. Hakuna matata!

I would recommend visiting all four parks: Serengeti, Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater Conservation and Manyara Lake National Park. It is doable is 4 days, however some parts are quite a long drive. Hence, a day rest in between would have been ideal.
Wildlife was spotted in abundance. We even spotted a leopard and a cheetah, both during daytime! Very lucky.
Also nice to visit the changa tribe in the mountains, where you can learn how to make your own coffee. And eat some local dishes which were amazing. This is also close to the waterfalls called: Materuni falls.

Exceptional Service
5/5

I travelled with family to Kenya in January and booked through Halal Safaris who took exceptional care of us. We had to delay our trip at the last minute and Samia at Halal Safaris went above and beyond to quickly adjust our itinerary.
Our safari at Amboseli National Park was incredible. Our itinerary also included resort time at Diani beach and a memorable visit to Lamu island. I can’t thank Halal Safaris enough for their attention to detail in making this a trip of a lifetime.
