Amazing trip with an amazing operator.
4/5

I was apprehensive at first as I never usually use tour booking agents. It started as a quote on a website, moved to emails and then was finalised via WhatsApp. I had not a lot in terms of what you would call "official" confirmation of booking. And everything was communicated via WhatsApp.

This being said. It was amazing. Everything that was planned went ahead and we had the most amazing experience. We stayed at Voi safari lodge and Ngutuni safari lodge in Tsavo east. The second night of our planned lodge was changed due to unforseen circumstances but we was accomodated with what can only be described as an upgrade. It was truly magical. We was lucky enough to see many families of elephants, we saw girrafe and buffalo, we was also lucky enough se a pride lions eating a buffalo. Definitely something we will never forget.

One thing to be noted and the only reason they did not receive 5 star is the payment was requested in USD cash. This in it self is not an issue, though upon payment some of the bills had minor wear and tear, such as nicks and cuts on the edges. It was brought to our attention that any bills under a certain year and any that were too heavily used would not be accepted by Kenyan banks. If I didn't have a few spare bills to use as tips this could have had major detrimental effects on the trip.
This needs to be communicated prior to arrival as I could have asked the bank for fresh bills. The agent in Kenya told me this happens often, so why not notify me to stop the issue happening.

first time traveling
5/5

This was the trip of a lifetime and it owe it to this company. I did a solo trip- 7 day safari in Kenya. I did my first day touring the city of Nairobi with Timothy. We went to the Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Sanctuary. Then off to my safari with peter which entailed a couple of days in Samburu, A day in Lake Nakuru, a day in Sweetwater seeing the park and chimpanzee rescue center, , and then onto the Masai Mara for a couple days. All accommodations were 3 star of higher and I liked each place I stayed at. The food was great at each lodge/camp as well. Safari van was perfect for viewing and always keep clean each day for perfect viewing and peter made sure I saw every single animal I wanted to see and knew exactly how to make that happen. He was always prompt each morning when we would meet before we headed out on safari for the day. He was very knowledgeable about all the animals and polite the entire trip. If I return for a safari ever in Kenya then I would definitely request him to be my safari guide again. The road trip between each park was about a 5 hr drive each time and I actually liked that because it gave me an opportunity to really see the country of Kenya and how all the different villages live. If I had questions along the way about the different tribes peter had an answer and I liked that too. Covid testing before my departure was super easy as well at the last lodge I stayed at for my stay the covid testing company had someone come to my lodge to take my sample and within 1 day had my test results emailed to me and the lodge printed it out for me so I could have it for my flight departure.

I loved seeing the Big 5 and the entire experience of the safari but I have to say the part of my trip that has stuck with me and really made it a life changing trip was my visit to the milele Education Center in one of the slums in Nairobi to visit the children of the school. It was my last day on the trip before I got dropped off at the airport. My flight didn’t leave until midnight that night so in the morning peter and I left the Mara park early, did a little bit of looking for animals on our way out of the park then drove to the school for the afternoon to see the children. Timothy set this all up for me and I’m so grateful he was able to do it for me. Peter helped me buy a bunch of food for the 120 kids we were visiting and I got to spend 3 hrs with them before peter dropped me off at the airport.

I would highly recommend makiwa Kenya safaris to anyone looking to go on safari. From day one when I inquired Vanessa was super helpful in answering all my questions and setting my itinerary up. Great customer service on his part, from Timothy and from peter. Thank you, makiwa kenya safaris for the trip of a lifetime!

We did a spontaneous trip to Tansania and everything was organized very quickly, we could start the game drive even the next days. Also our stay for 3 weeks was amazing thanks to the team. It was no problem to amend things on request, they are very flexible, professional and always reachable.

nice service
5/5

Isabellah was always available to help us plan our safari. She would reply to our mails and Whatsapp messages even at times that were believed were very late in Kenya. On the day we arrived in Kenya she was there & introduced us to Ken, our driver guide. Our 3 day safari in Masai Mara National Reserve was amazing. Ken was funny and his knowledge of flora and fauna is out of this world.
I recommend Salina Wild Adventures for those people wishing to visit Kenya.

I had the best time and interesting conversations that day. I would totally recommend booking a tour with Sammy.

I couldn’t have been happier with Smile with us Tours. From getting a quote to invoicing, etc., they were always very quick and professional to respond and answer any questions I had along the way. They also were less expensive than any other safari I got quoted and the experience was top notch! I didn’t have to stress or worry - they took care of everything and my family had a wonderful time, especially with their knowledgeable guide who went out of his way to see ALL the animals. :) 100% recommend their company.
