Responsive, entrepreneurial, kind and committed to his clients having an amazing experience!
Isaya of Kihindo Safaris was my tour guide on two amazing safaris over the last two weeks: the first a three-day safari at Nyerere National Park/Salous with work colleagues, and the second a three-day safari at Mikumi National Park with my family.
All of my pre-safari dealings with Kihindo Safaris were incredible: from the moment I inquired about different tour options, Kihindo’s responses were prompt and clear. This made coordination easy as I was traveling on a complicated work trip with a lot of logistics. Isaya made things straightforward but was also flexible to accommodate changes and questions about different options for tours and payment.
As for the tours themselves, they exceeded all expectations. Isaya is a talented tour guide - he knows both parks very well and we saw such a wide variety of animals at different locations and at different times of day when we visited. He was knowledgeable about the parks and their many inhabitants and was often “first on the scene” at a given location to see an exciting animal. He added interesting cultural add-ons to each safari - at Selous, a walking safari with a bushman, and at Mikumi, a visit to a Maasai village. Isaya kept us on task and schedule which we appreciated. The accommodations were also excellent, convenient and exceeded our expectations.
As Kihindo is a small business, I was pleased to support them rather than a larger tour group company where the tour guides are subcontractors or staff. Kihindo Safaris is a highly entrepreneurial business and I know I received a high value for the services rendered.
I will recommend Kihindo Safaris without hesitation to those taking safari trips at parks throughout Tanzania.

Big Gman is AWESOME!
This 6 Day Safari was an impressive experience right from the first day. Animals every day, all day. Even got to see the elusive Black Rhino at Lake Nakuru!
Today, the last day of my 6 day safari was the Crème de la crème!
Woke up to the second morning of Mt. Kilimonjaro with a beautifully blue backdrop and scattered clouds. A sight to behold!
We saw most animals today from less than 50 feet! The rains last night must have brought them out in earnest! Don't get me wrong, I've seen many, many animals every single day, but today was phenomenal due to the very short distances!
I wish I could rate Big Gman and Lenchada Safaris a 10!

Three great days in Serengeti and Nogorongoro
We had three great days 7-9 March 23 in Serengeti and Nogorongoro. Our guide Vincent had designed a safari especially for our needs. Everything worked out according to plans and the standard of vehicle and the tented camp (two nights) in Serengeti was high. The sunset open-air dinner at the fire was magic. Vincent had an almost supernatural ability driving the vehicle on the rough SerengetI roads and simultaneously discovering even distant animals. His skills and knowledge was impressing. We saw all “Big Five” with lion, elephants and buffalo very close. We also saw four of the “Ugly Five”. And we saw many giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, gazelles etc. We got very nice photos and movies even with our mobile phones. Midday and afternoon temperature was high, but chilled drinks were available in the vehicle. Our safari was way beyond our expectations and it was unforgettable.
Perfect 5 Days Private Tour
From the airport pick up to the safari in the Kruger including the return trip everything was well organized! Everything was as discussed by email; all of our questions were answered right away and we felt well looked after.
The Soweto Tour on the first day was very impressive and our guide helped us understand the history of South Africa. On the way to Kruger we discovered that Panorama Route Highlights were included in our itinerary – this is a great landscape worth a visit!
On the safari, Dereck our guide shared his vast knowledge of the animals and their natural environment in South Africa with us. The absolute highlight was a group Lions sleeping on the river bank. We saw almost all of the Big Five except for the leopard, but we spotted many animals up close (giraffes, zebra, elephant, etc.)
A safari with Khalanga Safaris by Dereck and Shoes is highly recommended! They compiled a perfect package for us and always made sure we had a wonderful journey.

Fantastic!!
We're just back from our safari, and on a scale of 1-10, it was a 12! The animals, lodgings, and staff were all much better than expected. We were on the 17-day safari (Cape Town, Dulini, and Victoria Falls), which I highly recommend. Nothing was planned for our first two days at Lanzerac Hotel in Stellenbosch which was great as it allowed us to adjust to the time difference from California and recover from our 30-hour flight. Lanzerac is five-star, and is located about 45 minutes from Cape Town. It's smarter to dine in Stellenbosch (a charming university-town) than to drive all the way into Cape Town to eat. Note: you will tour Cape Town one day and can dine there (try Pot Luck, it was excellent), and the hotel will pick you up for a fee. The Dulini Lodges are also five-star. We stayed in Mora and our suite backed-up to a creek with a lushly covered hill behind it so it was very private. There are no windows on the front of the suite (60 feet wide, with inside and outside showers, living room, and heated plunge-pool) but the rear is all glass so it's like living outside but you are inside in an air-conditioned environment. The Dining Room is open-air, and we even ate a dinner on the lawn--no bugs. If it's dark, you are escorted to your room for safety. We saw every type of animal imaginable as game is very abundant. We did 30 hours of Drives, and saw leopards and lions several times, elephants were often encountered as were giraffes and zebras. We were fortunate enough to see some rare ones, including wild dogs, and a pangolin. We also sat among a herd of cape buffalos that stretched a quarter-mile. We sometimes got within three feet of a lion or leopard, which is very exciting--as long as we remained seated in the safari-vehicle, we were ignored by them. At Victoria Falls, we stayed at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, which is perched on a hillside and has a magnificent view of the Bush below. The Falls were roaring, so were dramatic, but you will get wet despite wearing a poncho. The staff everywhere we went could not have been nicer or more accommodating. In sum, it was one of the best vacations we've ever had.
