We had a super team who professionaly leaded us to the top
Herman leaded our group of 8 persons very professionaly and friendly to the top. Unfortunately 2 of us had to stop because of illness. His personal accompaniment to bring them to the valley was overwhelming and comforting for them and the left over group...
I would recomment Herman to be your enthousiastic, friendly, professional and driven guide!!!!

Extremely good guide and very enjoyable experiences
We took two tours with Maurice. The first was the walking tour of downtown Nairobi that was very interesting. Maurice has a lifetime of local knowledge that he freely shares. We saw the key points of interest and experienced the city up close. We enjoyed Maurice’s company so much that we signed up for a day trip to Nakuru National Park. What a great time we had. Maurice was very very good at spotting animals and our photos were great. He is an articulate, intelligent, kind man who works diligently for his clients. We will definitely contact him again when we return. It is with great confidence that I recommend Like a Local Safaris .

THERE ARE NO KHOI SAN PAINTINGS IN THE PARK
THERE NO KHOI SAN PAINTINGS IN THE PARK! REPEAT: THERE ARE NO KHOI SAN PAINTINGS IN THE PARK
On the morning of 22 January I stopped at the reception office at the Golden Gate Nat'l Park to inquire about hiking to see Khoi San paintings in the limited time that I had before having to return to Johannesburg that day. I specifically mentioned to the young woman working the front desk that I was there to see Khoi San paintings and not in spending time on other activities in the park since my time had run out. She advised me to go to Echo Ravine to find them and gave me a map to help me get there. Another couple hearing our conversation also took note, and all of us hiked up to Echo Ravine in search of the Bushmen art. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed when we made it there to find that there were none, and I hiked back to the reception office to make sure that I hadn't misunderstood our instructions. I was then told that there were none, to which I kindly asked for my money back (210 rands) to be returned. I was refused by her manager, Norman Mudau, who took my name and number down in an attempt to quell any further complaints.
The exorbitant entrance fee of 210 rands ($17 USD) assessed on foreigners (4x that for South Africans) would be well worth it if the paintings were there or If one had a full day to spend at the park. But in my case I was misled into believing that I could find them and wasted my last remaining time in South Africa on a fruitless endeavor, when I could have traveled instead to Kiara Lodge to successfully find them.
Norman Mudau and his associate should learn to practice better customer service in the future. Their treatment of me that morning made my trip to South Africa end on unnecessarily sour note, which is regrettable since the remainder of the trip was about as perfect as one could imagine.

Good, clean, comfortable with an awesome operator
Great landscapes and scenery, a variety of optional excursions, comfy and clean accommodation and quite simply a wonderful driver and tour guide. Shingy was fun, considerate with a fun demeanour, yet staying professional. African Travels' communication was clear and thorough and whenever we had a question they were quick to respond and sorted everything out quickly. They delivered on everything they promise in the "brochure". Thank you guys for a good trip.

Long Drive, but worth the amazing experience!!
My friend and I did a 3 day luxury Safari tour of the Masai Mara Park where I stayed at the Mara Engai lodge. I highly recommend this lodge!! The upside is that the accommodations are impeccable, the service is unmatched, and once you book, it’s full board (includes everything but alcoholic beverages). Our Africa Celebrity guide's name was Muli and he was great! He was really knowledgeable and in-tune when it came to the game drives. The downside to this experience was that it is very deep into the National Park, so its a superrrrrrr long drive from Nairobi (~8 hours). Also, lunch was not included on the way back to Nairobi. The cost of the 3 Day Safari tour was $1,160 for two people. Again, I HIGHLY recommend the Mara Engai Lodge; they also offer additional excursions like ATV bikes through the park, and hot air balloon rides. There are plenty of competing lodges, but none that I found to be quite as nice (with the exception of the Serena hotel) or with as much value for the price. I also opted for a tour of a Masai village at the end of my safari for an additional $30. If you do this, have cash to purchase jewelry made by the Masai people, and to donate to their local village. Overall, this was definitely a highlight of my time in Kenya.
