Book with complete confidence in a first-class service
Website: the clearest, most informative website that we found for booking a safari in Africa. All our questions were answered promptly which gave us the assurance that we were dealing with a professional outfit. A personised itinerary tailored to our requirements gave my wife and I a clear idea of what to expect for our money. Booking was straightforward. Excellent support was provided for 'first-timers' like ourselves in obtaining such things as visas. A word of warning: there are 'scam' visa sites that masquerade as the official ones that charge over twice as much with no refunds.
The package was comprhensive. The only extras were drinks etc and for tips that proved to be a considerable expense, but that was part of the culture. We were taken care of from the moment we were picked up from the moment we were dropped. Door to door servive! Our driver, Jonathan, was excellent, an excellent advertisement for Kombi Tours. He skilfully drove us through the Kampala rush hour and proved very knowledgeable about Uganda and the forthcoming gorilla trek. Although the journey to Bwindi was just short of 10 hours, the last 3 hours on rough murram roads, it was comfortable and all part of the experience.
Our 2 day stay was at Buhoma Rest Camp right next to the gorilla trekking centre. We were welcomed with hot moist towels and shown to our accommodation. Our lodge overlooked the rain forest with all the associated sounds of wildlife that immediately made us feel that the adventure was just beginning! Our lodge had everything we needed for a comfortable stay - en suite toilet and shower, electric points for charging devices, a large comfortable bed complete with mosquito net and even a hot water bottle at night! The meals were tasty, well-presented and served in an atmospheric dining room come bar open on one side to the rain forest.
The gorilla trek. Everything about the trek was professional. It gave us the feeling that we were in safe hands and that we could relax and enjoy what would prove to be an unforgettable experience. Our introduction to the trek was a singing and dancing performance by local school-children. Divided into small groups led by a witty guide we commenced our walk into the forest supported by an armed escort and porters. About one and a half hours of walking we arrived at the group of gorillas to which we were assigned, including a siverback! We spent a magical three quarters of an hour with the gorillas taking photos and taking in the unique experience!
In the afternoon we took up the offer of a guded walk around the local community including a school, a group of pygmies, a banana beer-making process and a harbal healer. Absulutely fascinating and in it's own way as memorable as the gorilla trek. Our friendly guide was Josious who was very enthusiastic about his home community and extremely informative.
Overall, the whole trip greatly exceeded our expectations. Gill and I are very happy that we made a wise choice in choosing Kombi Tours for our 'once in a lifetime' gorilla trekking safari.

It was a wonderful experience. I was travelling alone and taken care off very well. It's worth it!
The communication with the company through Minneh was so easy. She assisted me all through out. I had to change my planned dates at the last moment and Minneh made all the arrangements without a problem. She also made sure I was taken care off well in the entire tour. They picked me up in my hotel on time. Our driver/guide Evans was amazing. He made sure everyone in the group was comfortable and enjoying. It was a good group size (5-7). I was surprised with how nice the accommodations were and the food was also good (most of the time buffet). The game drives were amazing. You will be surprised each time with the sightings of the animals. Evans made sure we saw the best sightings and off course the big five! The other people in my group had only 4days and Minneh arranged me a private tour at hell’s gate with a very good guide named Dan that also works for the company. I was brought back to the door step of my hotel satisfied. I paid the cheapest but excellent and worth every penny safari tour in Kenya! I will definitely recommend this tour company and will use it again when I go back with my family.

Top service, guide with long experience and knowledge. The safari met all our expectations. Super!
We are very satisfied with everything, they tailored our Safari according to our preferences (family with 2 kids, age 9 and 12), communication was very smooth and service excellent. Our driver James had so much knowledge about the wildlife and the parks we visited (Serengeti and Ngorongoro) and he was very responsive to our needs and wishes.
The safari met all our expectations and we warmly recommend Tanzania Roadside Expeditions to anyone planning for a Safari in Tanzania. Thank you so much, Paul and James!

Badly planned itinerary
Travelled from Vic Falls in Zimbabwe to Zanzibar. Apart from the first two and last two days the itenerary was planned very poorly. Back to back days of 7-13 hrs driving with 4AM wake up and getting to the next camp just to have dinner and go to bed is far from the great experience we expected from trip notes. The whole group felt the same. Half of camps were completely unnecessary and this trip requires serious improvement to make it at least half enjoyable.

Journey through Kenya with the best eyesight and hospitality around!
I had the pleasure of experiencing the Great Migration safari with Game Whisperers Adventures and the good fortune of having Wyclef Odera as my guide. His knowledge, professionalism and hospitality were only matched by the apparent passion and pride he has for his job, the wildlife and his country. He was a joy to spend time with (which is SO important), made me laugh and I learned so much from him during our time together. I swear he has the best eyesight in Africa and never ceased to amaze with his ability to spot wildlife at all hours. He is the reason I loved my Kenyan safari and why I would return in a heartbeat.

Maasai Wanderings - THANK YOU!
Dear Maasai Wanderings:
Wanted to tell you about the wonderful experience I had with my companion during our trip to Tanzania last month. Barb and I worked with Yellow Zebra to craft our ideal safari experience, and Maasai Wanderings was an integral part of our trip.
We started in Arusha, where Jamal picked us up and took us to Tarangire Park. We immediately felt very comfortable with Jamal, who is both very expressive, knowledgeable and funny. He had a wealth of information at his fingertips (in the form of books) throughout our time with him, and was able to answer almost all of our many questions.
Ndovu Camp was an excellent experience, especially at the start of our trip. We enjoyed the food very much, and were pleasantly surprised that Barb was given a birthday cake on our first evening there. Shout out to Nicholas, who is a gracious host. Waking up with 19 wildebeest outside our tent on the far side of the camp was an amazing experience, especially given that we were wakened by soft footsteps at around 4:30 in the morning, and waited with bated breath to see what was outside!
Jamal was an excellent companion on our way to Lake Manyara, prior to which we stopped at a Maasai boma, near Mto wa Mbu, and then rode bikes through a banana plantation to the Lake. Our experience in Ngorongoro Crater was incredible; we were absolutely blown away by the scale of the place, along with the concentration of wildlife.
Leaving Jamal for the Serengeti was bittersweet; we really enjoyed exploring with him and want you to know that we think he is a fantastic guide. Later, we were pleasantly greeted in the north by Hauth, who is a super pleasant, polite and articulate young man. As luck would have it, within two hours of landing, Hauth guided us to a crossing spot where we witnessed an incredible river crossing that left Barb and I speechless. An absolutely unforgettable experience, followed shortly after by a massive rainstorm.
We want to highlight KasKaz Camp as a gem in the middle of the Serengeti. We both think it is an incredible camp, especially with its expansive view to the east. A special thank you to Hassan and Daniel, who are both incredibly friendly, professional, and warm hosts. Hassan has an amazing positive energy that is contagious and genuine. Daniel is a wonderful person; gentle, smart, and just fun to be around in the lounge area. Both are assets to your company. They made our experience that much more amazing. I had the good fortune to take a hot air balloon ride with Hassan one morning, and it is an experience I'll never forget. Barb and I were also moved by the 'sundowner' goodbye experience, the evening before we departed KasKaz for Zanzibar.
The guides and the accommodations provided by Maasai Wanderings and Nasikia Camps exceeded all the expectations Barb and I had for our trip. The hospitality and camaraderie at both camps feels very genuine; neither scripted, nor forced, but very personal. KasKaz Camp, in particular, felt VIP all the way, with attentive staff, and attention to detail. We felt like movie stars!
We will absolutely recommend your company to anyone that asks us for advice planning an African safari. Thank you so much for the professionalism of your staff; our trip would not have been the same without meeting Jamal, Hauth, Hassan, Daniel, and everyone else that is part of your excellent team.
Thank you!
