We booked a 6-Day-Budget-Camping-Safari with Grassroots and had a wonderful time in Tanzania. Compared to Namibia where we have been the year before Tanzania appears to have a lot more wildlife. We wanted to go to the south and stay away from the more tourist flooded and expensive parks in the north - which turned out to be a good idea. In Tanzania all the parks and the camps in the parks are not fenced and you get a much closer feel of being part of nature. With a knowledgable and safe guide/driver we never had any problems and lots of really beautiful and close wildlife encounters.

On the downside - the prices were reasonable but it was a lot of driving. While you get to see a lot of the real Tanzania outside the tourist areas - it was also quite exhausting to spend so much time in the car driving through half of the country from Daressalam and from park to park.

It was an amazing experience with Lenchada Safaris. .
Since the first e-mail to drop off at hotel at the end of the tour everything was perfect .
On the way from Masai Mara to Nakuru we were taken to Lake Naivasa for a boat ride that was not included in our itineraries...so relaxing and enjoyable.
Tents and hotel was just as it was mentioned and simply perfect. Staff members of the tents were nice and cordial. Foods were fresh and good. Water bottles were adequate for all.
Isaac our guide...an experienced driver ,a guide with huge knowledge, such a nice human beings.
He take concerns of everything.
we get the best from the drive and take proper rest.
Thanks to all Lenchada Teams.
Specially Isaac ,Alex Ombeva,Minneh...whomever I came in contact in any means.
Just keep it up.

No concern for the animals or the other tour companies.

Wow. We spent a week on safari and had several encounters with Leopard Tours, none of them good. On several occasions the Leopard Tours would pull in front of other safari vehicles just so they could be closest. Also when a great dusk cloud would be racing towards us and passing at high speed driving in the grasses or any area to pass us , you could always be assured it was Leopard Tours. The best was when the Leopard Tours vehicle drove off road in front of many other tour vehicles and drove right towards a pack of 5 lions. Thus causing them to get up and leave the area because they were about to be hit by the vehicle driven by Leopard Tours. So if you want to be first in line without ever waiting your turn, you have no regard for the wildlife you area there to see, and you have no respect for other people on tour, then this is for sure the company you should book with. Other wise I would steer clear of this company. I have found similar complaints about this company on here, with a reply from the company. But it appears this Leopard has not changed its spots.

From the first email requesting a trip quote to arriving at the Nairobi airport for our return flight home, the experience with the Luxury Safari Company exceeded all of our expectations. We did not have one problem during our trip which allowed us to just enjoy the incredible experience. I cannot thank Rose enough and will absolutely be recommending her to all of our friends traveling to Africa.

I recommend Phillemon and Walking Stick without any reservation. From our first communication all the way to the end of our six-day safari, he and his team were terrific. He was always prompt and clear in communications when we arranged the safari, and was flexible when we wanted to make a modest change. The two other staff with us, Kenny and Josiah, were unfailingly friendly and helpful. Four things stand out in my experience.

(1) Philemon is an excellent guide with astonishing ability to see and identify animals even from considerable distances. He knows every by-way and clearly knew how to maneuver our vehicle to get the best possible views of animals we encountered.

(2) While the relatively modest price tag for Walking Stick was one of the attractions to us, we felt like we were treated extremely well. The tent was very large, with a wonderful walk-out awning, and an enclosed area behind for the toilet and shower (which worked just fine). The food was very good - thank you, Josiah - and plentiful. Especially marvelous cakes baked on the open fire.

(3) We had a family emergency back in the States develop six days into our 10-day planned safari and had to rush back. Phillemon and his team completely got the situation, did everything they could to get us back to Maun, and then were invaluable in helping us figure out the complexities of making last-minute travel arrangements. We are indebted to him.

(4) Walking Stick is a small, locally-owned and operated company in a field largely dominated by larger enterprises with capital backing that local enterprises can rarely compete with. Going with an outfit like Walking Stick invests directly in the local economy - and you get tremendous local knowledge in the bargain.

Again, we happily and enthusiastically recommend Walking Stick!
