Amazing safari experience
5/5

From the very start of the process the booking was handled with great professionalism, queries being answered promptly and without any hint that I was being a bother. Everything was communicated clearly and the plans were all top class. A small hitch with the driver from our hotel to the pick up point was ironed out easily and our driver/safari guide was really knowledgeable and an excellent driver. We were able to see far more animals than I had even hoped and the Sopa lodges were excellent.

Ilmaasaai overdelivered
5/5

We are a Costa Rica couple currently living in London, and chose a 6-day Safari Tanzania for our honeymoon. Our Safari experience was memorable, not least because Ilmaasai gave us a great service.

About Loth (the manager):
- Email communication was quick and easy.
- The safari itinerary and pick-ups were executed as planned.
- Loth arranged a combination of room and camping accommodation within our budget where other Safari operators did not. You'll appreciate a bed!
- After our safari ended, we separately booked a flight. Loth helped us with a problem we had with that flight.
- We dealt with other operators during our stay in Tanzania. Some have a harassing attitude and try to change things you have already agreed. But there are also great operators. With Loth you'll be in safe hands.

About Brayson (the guide):
- He's passionate and knowledgeable about wildlife. He's also an educated person from which you can learn about Tanzania's culture and history. He's attentive, friendly, and helpful.
- He communicated with other safari operators to spot animals. These networks are a big bonus from choosing a reputable safari company!
- We were the first ones to leave the camp on several days. Bryson was always ready on time.
- Conversely, in some days the game drives extended until sunset.
- He's a careful driver. Some drivers forget they are inside a national park.
- He thoroughly respects the rules of a fragile ecosystem. Some drivers would go off the road within the national parks even though it goes against the national parks rules.
- The registration process in the national parks was always smooth. We had 0 worries.

About Fillipo (the cook):
- He served us lots of food! And food was tasty. As Brayson, he's attentive, friendly, and helpful.
- After we asked him what ugali was, he prepared some for us.
- Filippo was also in charge of collecting the camping stuff whenever we moved to the next national park. When we returned to the national park, everything was ready.
- He respects the rules of a fragile ecosystem. Our food was packed in reusable plastic containers, while we witnessed how many operators bin an unnecessary amount of waste.

We thank you for all the efforts you made for doing our experience memorable!

One of the best safari experiences!
5/5

David, our guide, was very friendly and informative throughout the trip. He was a very good driver and made us feel safe at all times. We got to see 4/5 Big 5 on our 2 days(1 night) trip and we were incredibly happy with David trying his best at all times to show us the best locations and animals. Would highly recommend Karibu to future travellers!

Number one Africa Safari for older folks...we were aged 40+ to 70+ and all were adventure happy
5/5

I was wondering how it was going to work, we had ages 40+ right up to me 70+ and our wishlists were different. But Shaun did it, tailored every day for all of us to enjoy. I asked him......how do you know what to do to keep us all happy... and he said, he takes inspiration from his own family's needs around him..., older members with health challenges, younger ones still finding their way in the world... However he did it, it worked, we were delighted, safe, involved in the decision process, and respected for our physical fitness levels and requirements. Shaun and his Moriti Private Safaris are the best way to do Africa. We started planning a year out, and that was good, because he gets booked up with repeat clients. Put us on your repeat list I said. Thanks Moriti team for a great Africa Safari time !

Reliable and do anything for you to ensure you get what you said you wanted to experience
5/5

Benson was responsive to all communications and happy to make suggestions for a better experience. I was nervous about transferring money for the safari but Benson informed me when the payment had arrived and sent me a receipt of the funds so making me more confident and comfortable.
Pickup and drop off at the airport were on time and welcoming and even going back to Kilimanjaro airport to pick up a case we had left behind. Each safari morning we discussed a departure time with our guide Paul and he was always on time and happy to fit in with whatever we wanted. One of the days set set off at 6am to get into the Ngorogoro crater before the rush and what a reward we got with sighting of everything we hoped for including rhino.
Paul was very knowledgeable about the animals and their behaviour and seemed to know where they would be for viewing. The time at each viewing was left to us with our guide happy to watch the animals with us. In all we visited Arusha park, Serengeti, Ngorogoro crater, Lake Manyara and Tarangere and all were worthwhile and allowed us to see different sets of animals in different, beautiful, surroundings. If I had to pick one place then the Serengeti offers the most variation in animals and surroundings.

Well done Benson and to our guide Paul for an excellent experience which would be difficult to better - thanks.

A professional customized worry free Tanzanian wildlife viewing safaris of a life time.
5/5

The best part of the trip was it was customized to our desires and budget making it a very personal and enjoyable wildlife viewing and photographing safaris in a fabulous country teaming with wildlife. Working with Paul and Hannah was an excellent experience from the planning stages thru the monitoring of our travels till the end to provide a worry free adventure. His choice of seasonal timing, use of companies and accommodations was excellent. The staff at each location was friendly and professional often doing the extra effort to make our stay even better. The food, cooked by chefs, and service was very goo. You never left the table hungry and the bag lunches were more than enough and very good. The guides were professional and ethical, leaving a viewing area after an appropriate amount of time to allow others access or to not disturb the animals. Their knowledge about wildlife, history and the people was very good. As a wildlife biologist I can attest to the credibility of their wildlife knowledge. The great handling of the logistics was the worry free part of the trip with a driver or guide always taking you to the appropriate place at the right time. Domestic flights by Coastal Air provided excellent service by skilled pilots.

The cost of our 17 day customized trip was less per day than a canned group trips we investigated. I would highly recommend using Paul Tickner Safaris to guide you or provide an affordable personal adventure of a life time. We will be using Ticket Safaris again.

it was excellent

The English speaking guide was very helpful. No communication problem. The chefs tried to please us with the food items. One request is make it much better for vegetarians. The choice for us was limited.

If you want to do it right, do it Makasa.
5/5

From the very beginning of the planning stage which was close to a year before our actual trip , Selma Kamm answered every question in great detail even before I decided to book Makasa Safaris. Her suggestions were helpful in the planning and then decision-making. Our group of six was given many choices of camps in price and comfort level at the various places we planned on visiting. Mostly we were able to tailor the trip to meet our desires. Selma only made suggestions that would make our experience all the better. Price was also a consideration and we found that Makasa's charges were a good deal better than every other company for equal options.
We landed in Kilimanjaro but we did not start our safari right away. We first took a vehicle with a driver to a small village of Goma in the Pare Mountains where Thomas, our son, has been living as a volunteer for Peace Corps. That in itself was worth the trip- all planned with the help of Selma. After that we went back to Moshi to start on a seven day safari to Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro. On the night before we began, we had a visit from Yohannes,, Selma's husband, who stopped by our lodge to thank us for choosing Makasa and to wish us a good trip. A small touch, but it shows their level of caring.
We decided we did not need the tour of a Masai Village which is offered. Through it all our guide, David, demonstrated his in depth knowledge of animal, plant and bird life. Besides, he is an excellent driver (it is a must). We saw four of the five BIG FIVE, and possibly saw a Rhino walking through the grass in the crater , but we could not verify. We were within a few feet of lions, elephants, wildebeests, and many others including a mother cheetah with two young cubs. We were close to a leopard up in a tree staring us down.
We then flew from Arusha to Zanzibar for a four day stay at Z Hotel, and absolutely fabulous place with a wonderful staff, clean and modern accommodations, and delicious food. Selma's recommendations worked perfectly throughout our stay. Not unimportant were the transfers from place to place that were perfect and on time-every one! Could not have been a smoother trouble free experience.
I think our biggest problem was deciding how much to tip not including our guide which was spelled out for us. Most places had a "Tip Box" in which a tip was placed at the end of the stay to be shared by the entire staff. For instance, at the Kenzan Tented Camp where we were the only guests, we were treated like royalty (in June it is not yet high season). The meals were fabulous and our Masai guard pointed out to us that a lion had been wandering around at night while we slept, and we did see the giraffe that walked right past us in the middle of our camp.
I think the weather and climate were perfect. Our son suggested June as the best time overall to go. Money was no issue since every place accepted U.S. dollars or Tanzanian currency.
A big three cheers to Makasa.
