Amazing trip!
5/5

Right choice and right decision i would say. Because it was really right decision to choose this agency. Tour manager George was answering all questions 24/7. He did his best to give us the best value for money. Our guide John tried his best to show us big five and we saw it

Highly recommend Katona Tours
5/5

We had an amazing 11 day safari with Katona tours.
From when i started planning this trip with Jackie of Katona over 1 year ago, she was very responsive and helpful in answering my emails and handling all my requests prior to travel. We landed in Entebbe Airport on 9th and were met by our guide Kenneth and headed to Murchisson Falls National Park for a 3 night stay, Queen Elizabeth National Park for 2 nights and finally did the Gorilla trek in Bwindi staying at Rushaga Gorilla lodge.
We added a day in Entebbe to visit Mabamba for a shoebill tour which also turned out to be a great idea, saw the shoebill for the first time.
The whole trip was flawless and Ken was very knowledgeable and all the accommodation facilities were really nice more than we expected.
Our experience was incredible and i would travel again with Katona tours. Do not hesitate to contact them for a memorable travel experience.

About: SD Safaris
Lies after lies after lies. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
1/5

I wish there was 0 star to give.. Burton- the person I dealt with is such a trickster you must avoid to deal with.
At first I thought he was very passionate and hardworking to match our budget to a trip to Serengeti as he offered lots of options and trying to meet our budget via email and whatsapp constantly.
I got a similar offer from another company but I wanted to pay back his time and effort and decided to go with him.
When we met his staff to finalize our deal they told us an extra charge of $300 which was never mentioned even when we asked him to confirm if the price he offered was the final price with no extra charge.
After we dropped his deal, he came up with a new offer that could benefit us especially to my Tanzanian friends and they liked his new offer so, I decided to give him a second chance. Up to this point I really thought he is just trying to make it work and hustle his life through and I always appreciate hard workers so I accepted his offer and that was the biggest mistake I made...
He changed his words again 10 hours before our trip. 'There is this and that, additional fee....'
I can't even... It makes me still furious and frustrating just thinking about it after a month now.
My friends couldn't afford the deal and it was very late for us to find a new tour company and we basically had to call and search all night and even the next morning as we must have started a tour the next day sue to our schedule. Luckily we found another company and the it was very pleasant but, we had to leave late in the morning and we basically wasted most of the morning.

I honestly think this is his work ethic, first offer something the client would want and close the deal and make them have no other choice and then tell them an additional charge at the very end.

LONG STORY SHORT, AVOID THIS COMPANY.
This is an honest review and 100% true and if you want to see if I am real or not, visit my instagram and ask @findingminwoo

Don't deal with this company or Burton.

good safari but could be better
4/5

We had a good trip but I remembered that daily driving distance was very loooong, also driving speed was not fast, and time spend on road was very long, espcially we experienced traffic on the way. First, we choose to have a 4wd landcruiser with a driver guide and had a good itinerary. Communication with Jong was great, all questions were answered straight forward. Payment was made easy in the Covid 19 season. Our vehicle was in good condition. The only thing is that everything was planned, but we spend daily is about 6 hours. There was one day we expereinced traffic in town also because of heavy raining, we got stuck in town and we had a almost 7 hours drive which affected our game drive in the afternoon, I remembered that clearly. The rough road condition in Masei Mara should be improved. The dust was a lot and we had to wear mask to cover our nose. We were told by Jong about the experience, but we did not expect that much, otherwise we could have book flights to masei mara.

Otherwise, everything else was okay. All meals were good (almost the same thing every time such as meat, soup, salad), our vehicle was clean all the time, our driver guide was nice and friendly to us, and most important that our accommodations were luxury and good. Every person surrounds us are friendly to us. We were happy to see a lot of animals. We saw big five and great rift valley. We loved to see the equator experiement also.

I would choose Sino Africa Safari again, but next time I will take flights for our transportation.

The most beautiful forest I have ever been to. Wide river meanders at th bottom of the gorge, hippos aplenty everywhere. Did not see the chimps, but saw a lot of birds, and some other monkeys. The view from the rangers HQ is breathtaking!

Great place to see the chimps. I was lucky to see them 4 different times, as we hiked around the park. Sometimes they are high up on the trees, sometimes walking thepight the forest, it just depends on your luck. I also managed to see most of the other p images in the park, plus th great blue turaco around the park. Loved it!

Seeing the gorillas upclose is something that is hard to explain. We were lucky with the hike, after 20 minutes we already made it to the gorillas, but as far as I heard this is rather the apartment exception.
Be aware, that even during the dry season rain can happen anytime, like it did for me in Feb.

Kyambura Gorge is amazing!
Overall rating
4/5

If you assess the park purely on the game drives, then it was very disappointing. There are only a few species that we saw: elephants, hippos, warthogs, buffalos, waterbucks and Ugandan kobs. However there are some activities which are excellent, making this a worthwhile destination:
1. Lion and leopard tracking with big cat research scientists. Thanks to the tracking collars we located 2 beautiful male lions, then 3 females and finally a female leopard. Going off road (since we had a ranger with us) made it even more fun!
2. Boat trip on Kazinga Channel is a wonderful way of seeing hippos, elephants and buffalos, plus water birds. Loved it.
3. Finally, the Kyambura Gorge. This place alone is worth the visit to this park. Rainforest in the middle of the savanna. The most beautiful forest I have ever been to. If you are lucky, you might find chimpanzees as well (I did not), but even without them the place is extraordinarily beautiful. You can see monkeys, birds, and the river is full of hippos.
Please keep in mind that there are about 40,000 people living in the park, and about 80,000 around the borders, so sometimes it does not feel like that you are in a national park.
