Chobe National Park was part of our camping safari package. The entire trip was extremely well organised, our group of 12 participants well looked after. Fresh food is prepared each evening and facilities were basic, but perfectly adequate. The Chobe national park is well looked after and access regulated to protect the wildlife. Living in the park allowed for early starts for the gamedrives in the morning and plenty of time in evenings to see amazing african sunsets. The wildlife was incredible and with the truck it was possible to get really close without bothering the animals. For lovers of bird photography the diversity is astounding. Overall a trip to be highly recommended.

A rich and varied park. In the first half-day we had seen 3 of the 'Big Five'. A battle outside our tent one night over a pool of water left from a leaking pipe was impressive - although we only followed it by the sounds - too petrified to put our heads out of the tent!

A unique opportunity to get close to the animals

The structure of the crater means that many animals are virtually trapped within the crater because the rim is so steep. This means that the ecosystem is unique with a richness of wildlife. The number of jeeps with guides is limited as is the number of days you can stay. This and the limited accommodation means that the crater is no overrun by tourists. This is the only place we saw rhinos. We also witnessed an attack by lions being beaten off by cape buffaloes. The guides communicated between themselves to get information on the latest sightings of interesting animals. The scenery is splendid but took second place to the wildlife. Accommodation in Rhino lodge on the rim was rustic but comfortable. On the rim the weather was cold and wet but inside the crater we had fine sunny weather.

An amazing experience with elephants up close

I came to Amboseli for two reasons, the first was that it was known for its elephants and the second, the view of Kilimanjaro. I was not disappointed in either. The sight of elephants frolicking in the knee-deep (elephant knees that is) swampy water was amazing. Groups of females with calves from one month up playing were a joy. And at sunset, as they headed back out into the dusty bush was beautiful. Other game was also abundant (zebras, wildebeasts, warthogs, hyenas, gazelle, impalla, etc.). There were giraffes in the distance, but never up close. Also at dusk, we saw a group of female lions at in the morning, a male finishing a zebra meal.

The view of Kilimanjaro was spectacular. Seeing herds of zebra and wildebeasts (and a large flock of ostrich) on the plain with Kilimanjaro was an iconic sight.

The whole trip included three days in the Okavango delta, a birder's paradise. Everything was perfecly organised and the tour guide very professional and knowledgable. A journey to remember.
