Fantastic safari - but make sure they come and pick you up!
The safari was absolutely fantastic, incredible experience.
Only one remark: they mentioned several times they would come and pick us up at the airport and never showed up. Only after several non replied calls they asked us to take a taxi and meet them in the office. Not ideal if coming from a long flight with other arrangements!

A memorable safari experience
Home away safaris offer the best customer service right from the booking process. They provided timely updates on my hotel bookings and areas to visit during my safari. True to their word we followed the schedule to the letter and had the best safari ever in Kenya. Their tour guides were polite and helpful to us all the time. I will use their services whenever on a safari tour.

Great experience
Last year I used Solaris Touring my holidays. I must say that that was a good idea. All transfers and accommodations were excellent, we went to Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater and Zanzibar, our entire experience was magnificent, excellent hotels and our contact person Jake and our driver Mussa was super friendly. I can only recommend it.

My safari of Dream
My safari with Regional Tours and Safaris in Tanzania was the best trip I have ever taken in my life, and I have traveled a lot. Maturaf and his team helped us every step of the way. We changed our itinerary some times and the team made that very easy for us to do, allowing us to customize the trip to our liking. Regional Tours & Safaris Tanzania was focused and professional from the moment we landed. They were waiting for us on time and made me feel extremely comfortable in an unfamiliar culture. Our safari was amazing. We saw everything we wanted to see and the driver guide emanuel allowed us to stay and watch certain groups of animals for however short or long of a time period we wanted. They made the long drives fun and taught us about the land, animals and language. Our accommodations far exceeded my expectations. We stayed in lodges that made us feel like we were part of the culture, rather than busy hotels.

5 nights, 2 National Parks, Experience of a Lifetime!
Topline: Book this company - you will not be disappointed! The experience of a lifetime!
Tour: 6 day/ 5 Nights Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli Safari
I booked this tour several months before embarking for a group of 4, two couples. Peter was extremely helpful via email, answering all of my questions very quickly, and providing thorough information for what to expect. He also helped customize the end, with border crossing into Tanzania to get to Arusha airport opposed to returning to Nairobi.
The tour itself was incredible! Our driver, Edward, was phenomenal. Request him. He was just awesome in every way. He was an awesome tracker, knowledgeable about the animals, was intuitive about what we were most interested in, and was very flexible in planning to meet our needs.
The safaris were phenomenal. The full day at Maasai Mara was my favorite - there were animals at every turn, including multiple sightings of lions and cheetahs. The sunrise is not to be missed! Nakuru was a delight, reminded us of Jurassic Park or some type of enchanted forest. I absolutely loved all of the rhinos, but I'm sure bird lovers would be in heaven. Our time at Amboseli was a bit overcast and we never did get a view of Kilimanjaro, but nbd. Somehow we ended up near herds of hundreds and hundreds on new babies! Baby wildebeests, zebras, and elephants everywhere! Taking first steps and learning how to run. My heart nearly burst.
The accommodations were really nice - much better than expected. The "budget" camp had tents bigger than my NYC apartment that included a toilet and shower. The luxury camps were full scale glamping and simply amazing. I do recommend bringing a small lantern and portable battery charges. Some run off of generators and have lights on timing schedules.
Food was generally buffet style and perfectly good for most people's tastes. We even had picky eaters with us and they were fine. Plenty of water was provided.
The drives between the parks are long (~7 hours). Consider a neck pillow and possibly a scarf to shield the sun. For this reason, I also recommend asking about personal tours. We had a group of 4 which was perfect in the van, especially when it came to the safaris and having spectacular views. We were originally set to be in a group of 7 which would have been less than ideal, and especially hard on those sitting in the back.
Huge shout-out to Peter and Edward for handling a few "unplanned" events. First, major luggage problems - 2 were delayed and 2 were lost. Peter and Edward helped us every step of the way, including changing our tour to private the day we landed, multiple trips to the airport to get luggage, and allowing us to use his cell phone to stay in contact with the airlines to help us locate that lost bags. Second was border crossing to Tanzania. Peter himself met us at the last park and personally drove us to the border and helped us every step of the way. He even arranged a colleague to pick us up in Tanzania to drive us the rest of the way to the airport to make our flight.
Payment: Yes - paying by wire transfer is perfectly safe and legitimate. This was a big concern for me beforehand and I found very little info about it to calm my nerves. Everything worked out perfectly and I do not think that there is a better deal to be found when it comes to value for your money.

Safari... not what I expected... maybe...
First of all, I don't blame Axis Africa if my safari was less than ideal. I think for the price, I got a great deal. I saw lions, cheetahs. leopards, lots of elephants. giraffes, zebras. Pic-up, drop-off, camps and game drives were exactly as promised. I guess I really came with little experience and expectations. I was in a (nice) pop-up van with a bunch of foreigners (like me). The guide spent most of the time on a radio with other guides. We could guess when he spoke a lot and we say all the vans heading in one direction it was a lion or something "big". It did kind of feel we were harassing the animals, even caging them in with vans. Only once did our driver seem to participate in this (on the last day, he gunned the van to try to get a rise out of a cheetah, who did not respond-- and several of us let him know we didn't think it cool to do this-- but we did notice other vans harassing animals, shouting at them and trying to provoke them. I did get the feeling that the guides on these "budget" safaris would do "whatever" they thought made the guest happy and earn more tips. We clearly went off-road when it was marked. I also had a bad experience at the camp when a driver from another safari made sexual comments and reached into his pants and (well whatever) while speaking to me. (He asked it I was in a tent alone --I wans't) and then I just left.. I probably should have taken his name or photo-- but I was in shock! Anyway, this was not the fault of my company, but it did mar my experience.
In my further travels in Africa, I did another game drive in Botswana that was actually cheaper and more professional. We didn't drive as close to the animals but that actually felt better,
I did feel Axis Africa gave me what they promised in a budget safari. That said, I am not sure what i got what what I anticipated. I did see a lot of animals. They were mostly wild and free, except that we caged them in with our vehicles (and they did seem OK with this). Our guide, while not particularly knowledgeable ("there ix a big elephant and a little elephant") was pleasant enough. I hope this post alerts other women who may be harasssed to take a photo and report it as I wish I had.

Outstanding Service!
This is the 2nd year that Safari Source was responsible for planning our Safari Excursion to Africa; last year was Zimbabwe/Botswana, this year it was South Africa/Kruger Nat'l Park. Monika and Rosemary were attentive to every.single.detail and communicated with us on these details. We had a minor snafu at the end of the trip, but it was efficiently and expeditiously handled... smooth sailing all the way, as if nothing had ever happened.
My highest recommendations for using the Safari Source for your travel needs in Africa; I look forward to the adventure planned for us in 2018!
