About: Tanzania
Amazing wildlife in North Tanzania
Overall rating
5/5

The weather in North Tanzania in August was perfect, not too hot, not too humid, with good cool breezes off and on. The variety of wildlife was very plentiful and we were able to see a little bit of everything, even though it was the tail end of the main migration for most of the wildebeast. The density of trees at Lake Maynara made it harder to see wildlife then at Tarangire, Ngorogoro, and Serengeti; but the vistas of these parks were all outstanding and unique. Visit Lake Natron only if you want to see a volcano, otherwise it has limited hiking and wildlife viewing. A day hike of Mount Kilimanjaro is a worthy experience as quite a variety of climate zones can be viewed in 1 day. Moshi and Arusha are both urban centers and are an interesting contrast to the quiet of most of the National Parks. While on safari we stayed in tented lodges that were practically equivalent to motels, except for the lack of potable water and their bucket shower system in Serengeti. In Tanzania we found that lunch is often served later then our usual noon hour that those of us in the US may be used too. We did not have much chance to try the local food, but hotel provided excellent Indian food. Transportation from Kilimanjaro airport to Tarangire, Lake Maynara, Ngorogoro were paved and smooth with minimal traffic issues. But the road between Ngorogoro and Serengeti was the worse bumpy gravel road on our trip. The roads around Lake Natron were unpaved dirt paths that often required detours through dry river beds that made it necessary for a good 4x4 all terrain vehicle, much like the US forestry roads are unimproved in the US. Our guide was very experienced and spoke good English, he was friendly, and knowledgeable about all the local wildlife and plants. Tanzania is a great country to visit for safari because almost everyone in the tourism industry speaks English, the country is very stable and safe, there is a wide variety of climates with various types of animals that can be visited all within a few days to a week of travel, and the people are very friendly.

Very happy we used Matoke tour company for our Safari in Tanzania.
5/5

Matoke Tours answered all my questions and responded to my emails very quickly. Very professional and easy to work with. We are very happy we choose to use Matoke Tours for our 9 day Migration Safari in Tanzania. Upon arriving in Tanzania we were greeted right away and from there the rest of our tour was wonderful. We had a lovely time and the lodges/tented camps we stayed were clean, good food, relaxing after a long day driving to see the animals, the workers were so friendly and polite. We were sad to leave. Our tour guide Simon was great, friendly and very knowledgeable about the Masai's and all the animals. He could spot an animal that we couldn't even see at first. We saw so many animals including the all of the Big 5, we saw the Wildebeest Migration, many lions, even lion take down a warthog which then came out from the tall grasses more lions/cubs to eat the warthog, Rhino's in the Crater, while lions walked right next to all the jeeps there and so much more. It was above any expectations we had going into the tour. For sure we will use Matoke tours again in the future.

Incredible Tanzania Safari with AAS
5/5

This was my 2nd trip to Africa, and our first with Authentic African Safaris. I must say they were excellent. Tanzania was fantastic. We were very lucky with the animals in the Ngorongoro Crater. We had the opportunity to go into the Serengeti for 3 days. It was an incredible experience. The tour guide John, was so lovely he paid great attention to detail and was incredibly knowledgeable about each of the National Park and the camps, it created a lovely bond, and they even had some surprises for us along the way. Overall we had a trip of a lifetime and all aspects of our travel were attended from airport pickups to accommodations up to our flights back to the US as well as the final wrap up call after we arrived home from our safari. If you want to have a fantastic trip to Tanzania - i would highly recommend Authentic guys to serve you!

An extraordinary adventure, take us back!
5/5

Me and my wife Emma did a 15 day eastern circle tour in August with guide Ryan.
A word that runs like a thread through the entire trip is "exciting". All the way from Johannesburg through Kruger and back again. We thought it would be a transport route to the Kruger Park but Ryan is very well-read and tell stories about his own experiences, Rugby, landscape to South Africa's history all the way to Kruger. The trip would take 7 hours but it felt like 2 :-)
We never thought we 'd get so close to wild animals and untouched nature as we did when we booked this trip, Kruger is amazing! And what Ryan does not know about animals and nature is not worth knowing , he also tells us in a way that is easy to set.
The highlight of the trip was day 6 just outside the Satara camp . In one day we saw a herd of Wild Dogs , one leopard and two rhinos!
The food also exceeded our expectations , Ryan cooked everything from scratch and almost always over an open fire. So cozy!

We would warmly recommend others to book with Wild Planet Safari!

Have a nice trip! / Johan and Emma.

Jambo, Kenya!
5/5

This was a family holiday of a lifetime for my partner and I and our 15 and 12 year old son and daughter. We now have treasured unforgettable memories. I would describe it as the best holiday I have ever had and that's mainly down to Transtrek Safari. I selected Transtrek Safaris based on reading positive reviews by others and wanting to support a family business. We were not disappointed. The 21-day holiday exceeded our expectations. We had a professional and personal service from Daniel, who had put together a superb itinerary. We visited Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha, Masai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo East and West and lastly a week at Diani Beach to rest, relax and reflect on what we had experienced during our 14 day safari.

Daniel selected a variety of accommodation which were all excellent, even the rooms in the tented camps were really spacious and the food throughout was excellent, even for the children, who are more picky. All staff were so friendly and accommodating which made the holiday especially relaxing and enjoyable. WiFi was an added bonus at most places we stayed at.

There are so many wonderful comments we could make about the whole holiday but I will give you just a taster. At Lake Nakuru we stayed at the Sopa Lodge which was so luxurious and had fantastic panoramic views. The place was fit for royalty! Daniel selected lodges with swimming pools which the children loved between morning and evening safaris. Daniel organised a boat trip in Lake Naivasha. It was amazing to see all sorts of birdlife and being in the boat so close to Hippos was thrilling if not rather scary!

In Nairobi, Daniel organised a visit to the elephant orphanage, which was so interesting that we ended up adopting a baby elephant; and at the Giraffe Centre we were able to feed and kiss a Rothschild giraffe which proved an exhilarating experience.

Peter, our amazing driver and guide, was a star. He knew exactly where to find the animals and nothing was too much effort. His knowledge of wildlife including the countless birds we saw was marvellous. We saw the Big 5 and much more. Nice one Peter! He positioned us safely so close to Lions, Cheetahs, and Buffalo etc that it was a surreal experience. He even taught us some Swahili words. Peter took us to the Hippo pool on the Mara River near the Tanzania boarder. We picnicked here and a cheeky Vervet monkey crept up and took an orange from my partners pocket! Daniel even treated us to a trip to the Colobus conservation centre at Diani Beach, where we learnt so much.

If you are looking for excellent customer service then I would not hesitate to recommend Transtrek Safari for an extremely enjoyable and memorable Safari. Thank you Daniel and Peter for all your work.

Fantastic safari trip and excursion
5/5

My girlfriend and I wanted to go on Safari and not be in a huge group following a set trail.
We spoke to Transtrek and they took us through lots of options - which meant we got the holiday we wanted.
They helped us organise a beach holiday for a week and when we had truly recovered from work we went on a hugely varied safari trip covering all the locations we had requested and a few suggested items which we are glad we did not miss. I have two tips for people going on Safari - buy a new camera and ring Transtrek for a chat

All the animals we wished to see, great service, beautiful surroundings
5/5

We had the best safari trip to Selous. The communication before the trip was always fast and very professional. We had a great drive to Selous through small villages and without any traffic. The safari camp (hippocamp) was situated in a beautiful spot next to the river where we could hear the hippos. We loved the combination of boat, car and walking safari. We got to see all the animals on our game drive: giraffes, zebras, wilder beasts, elephants, lions, crocodiles and even a leopard cub eating in the tree. The walking safari was very interesting and gave good insights to the life of the people in the tribes and their relation to nature. The service and food was excellent and we can highly recommend Kanuth to anyone who are planning a safari in Tanzania. Selous is a great alternative to the more busy Serengeti

Amazing experience
5/5

I had an amazing time with Kanuth Adventures! Kanuth was very helpful before I got to Tanzania, answered all of my questions and helped me to plan my trip.
He made every effort to help me organise the perfect safari based on my needs and desires.
The driver/guide was great too - he was at the airport on time, drove very safely all the time, knew where to go to see lions etc. and we even got to see the Serengeti Super Pride, which was my dream!!
So overall: a GREAT experience and I truly recommend Kanuth.
THANK YOUUU!

Perfect customized safari tour
5/5

We wanted to visit three places of our interest in Kenya: Amboseli to see Kilimanjaro, to cross the equator line, to see big 5 in Masai Mara. Noah made a private tour for two of us and we did everything within 5 days. Our Landcruiser was comfortable (as much as possible for safari vehicle) and our driver Benson told us a lot about Kenya and helped to see many animals in Amboseli and Masai Mara. We had no problems during our tour! Hakuna Matata as they say in Kenya. I definitely recommend Wildebeest Safaris for your vacation in Kenya.

A wonderful experience
5/5

I had a real wonderful experience with Meru Mountain treks and safaris, a driver was very experienced and he made things possible throughout a safari in Serengeti, Ngorongoro and lake Manyara national parks. I also enjoyed a well organised tour in Zanzibar. Thanks to Meru mountain treks and safaris company.
