Review about Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve by tapaculo99

Wildlife - we had neat views of Rhino as well as lots of Nyala and buffalo.
This park has gorgeous scenery, especially close to the hilltop camp (we were only in Hluhluwe). Amazing long views over the park gave the illusion of being in an alpine zone.
Bush vibe was not really evident - a major road cuts through this park. The main park road is paved and the hilltop camp is fairly fancy.
Birding - quite good here. Highlights included Woolly-necked Storks and an African Harrier-Hawk.

Review about Golden Gate Highlands National Park by tapaculo99

The scenery here was stunning - amazing geology and hiking.
Wildlife was not terribly plentiful, but we did see a few wildebeest, jackal, and zebra.
Bush vibe - not such a nice park in this regard, since a major road passes through the park.
Birding was nice but not particularly exceptional.

Very nice, but unfortunate timing due to construction

We stayed at uMkhuze for two nights in the end of July 2016. We stayed at Mantuma Camp, which was very nice; the rooms were clean and comfortable. We had a small difficultly with the hot water but the staff were very helpful.
In the morning we drove out to KuMasinga hide, and spent a lot of time at the waterhole there. Wildlife was plentiful - lots of Nyala, Wildebeest, and a single White Rhino. We also saw lots of neat birds in the sand forest, including some of the specialties of the area. We also visited the KuMahlahla hide, which had some more birds and baboons.
Unfortunately, at the time we were there most of the roads in the park were closed for maintenance, so we could only visit a small part of the reserve. This was disappointing, since it meant we couldn't see some of the birds we'd hoped for... however, it probably won't be an issue for much longer.

Beautiful scenery park with easy to find wildlife

4/5

Augrabies Falls National Park is a beautiful smaller park with fantastic scenery around the falls and the gorge. There is a lot of wildlife which is pretty easy to find and can be seen and photographed at close distance. Game such as giraffe, zebra, springbok, kudu, oryx, baboon, monkey can be found.
The accommodation in the park is good with comfortable cabins and a nice restaurant and shop. The weather in the winter time is good with nice temperatures without extreme heat. In the winter time not a lot of tourists are in the park creating some additional bush vibe
The night game drive is fun with some challenge to find animals, but is rewarding if nocturnal animals turn up under an amazing starry sky.

The sunset cruise is a must.
Chobe National Park is an open window to the Pleistocene Period.
The concentration of megafauna is beyond imagination.
Here you will find some of the largest elephant and buffalo herds in the entire African Continent.
Not to mention real close encounters with Lions, hippo's, crocodiles and monitor lizards.
The rare Puku and the Red Lechwe are also very common.
Bird life is also abundant.

These are some of the pictures that I got in a couple of days.

Wildlife was amazing in the game parks - we saw something like 35 species of mammal in our 3-week trip.
Scenic beauty was great as well, especially in Kruger, Hluhluwe, and the Drakensberg Mountains.
Birding was excellent - we saw over 300 species during our trip, mostly without hiring guides.

The tour guides are very friendly and knowledgable.
They really know how to spot wildlife and how to position their vehicles to provide great photo opportunities.
To maximize your experience, let the tour guide the purpose of your visit.
They will be glad to assist you.
Don't forget to tip your tour guide!
I suggest at least $10 per person.

Service, timeliness, and courtesy brings us back to Bongani Mountain Lodge.
5/5

Bjorn assisted us with clear communication and was always at the ready to assist us with our return to Bongani Mountain Lodge, our home away from home. The food, entertainment, and game drives were more than we expected, as were the manager and staff. We spent time working at the primary school in the nearby village of Lepesi and were assisted in our efforts by management at the lodge. It is clear to us that our experience was life changing. What a blessing to be in Africa and enjoying the people and the animals!

Trip of a lifetime!
5/5

This was my fifth trip to Tanzania and my second with Wilderness Legends Africa. I lead small groups to Tanzania for a combo of service and safari, so my group needs are more complex than a regular safari. Wilderness Legends has far exceeded my expectations on both trips!
They have been flexible in setting the itinerary, working within my budget, and have the best guides I can imagine. All my future trips will be booked with Wildness Legends Africa!
I have gone on safaris with them in Tarangire National Park, Ngoronoro Crater, Ndutu, and the Serengeti. While on safari, I watch other vehicles race around from animal to animal, like they are trying to check off a list and get back to the lodge early. With Wilderness Legends Africa, we've watched groups or individual animals for extended times, taking our time to really see the animals and how they interact with the environment and other creatures. It is during those times that we've often been surprised by something unusual, like male lions suddenly fighting and chasing another male out of their territory over miles of terrain.
Since my trips involve staying in a very small village, we've camped in Wilderness Legends tents and had meals provided by their cooks. The group was extremely pleased with the tents, cots, toilets, showers, and food.
The lodges/tent camps they have selected have been perfect for my groups-- some of which are teens and others are all adults.
Choose Wilderness Legends. You will have a trip of a lifetime!

Fantastic safari
5/5

Erick was an amazing operator. His drivers were very professional and got us the best looks at the animals as possible. Erick picked me up from the airport himself. The camps had everything we needed and the value I got for the money was second to none. It was so good I plan on using Ewamanns again next year. Rest assured you'll get great value from Ewamanns.
