My time here was amazing. I did not stay at any of the lodges, so I cannot speak of the quality of the accomodation, altough I've heard it is excellent. The wildlife here is fantastic, and I saw a lot without looking too hard, both in terms of large mammals and in terms of birds. The scenery is awesome and classic Africa!

This park has it all! Spend a few night at Mpila Camp and do self drives and you are likely to see a lot. As always you would be lucky to see leopards, but the rest of the big 5 is almsot a given. Cheetahs and wild dogs are alo not uncommon. Birding is excellent as well, with lots of birds of prey.

It's one of those special places where you feel alone with the African wildlife.

I didn't just go on safari at Tembe, I actually worked there for over a year, and it became a home away from home. Of all the parks I've visited, no other makes you feel this intimate with the African bush. Although wildlife is a bit harder to find here thant other places, the sightings you will get are often very up close and personal. Elephants are a given, and there is no better place to go see them. They are amongst the largest on the continent and the bulls grow amazing tusks. The buffaloes are also very impressive compared to other parks, and even the lions seems larger here. During a stay at the lodge you'll get excellent guides, and most of the time you'll get 4 of the big 5 over a couple of days, although rhinos are a bit shy here. Leopards are very rare, but if anyone can find them, it is the lodge.

Scenery is dense but beautiful throughout most of the park, and the sand forest makes this park unique in terms of scenery, feel and look. The huge swamp spanning the east side of the park is the park's most open area, and the best place to find herds of elephants and buffaloes. In the dry season, May-September, the sawmp is also a good spot to find lions hunting. The prey base is massive here, and the numbers of the beautiful nyala antelope are staggering, so the carnivores are not lacking in any way.

My favorite time of year here is October, which is very early in the rainy season. Climate is warm, but not extremely hot, as it can be in summer, November-March. The scenery is becoming greener, but the vegetation is still low after the dry season so the animals are still easy to see. The dry season will, of course, give you a bit more action as wildlife stick around the few water sources, but the scenery is not as nice.

I never stayed at the lodge overnight myself, as I stayed at the research camp, but the people working there are very serviceminded and the lodge is very accomodating.

If you go here, be sure to spend a day at the nearby Ndumo Game Reserve for some fantastic scenery and birding! And a massive population of crocodiles!

No better place to be for animal lover than Zululand on the east coast of South Africa. You got lush coastal forests, open savannahs, sand forests, bushveld, beaches, coral reefs and more. What's not to love?

Best Safari Company
5/5

Paka Adventures went above and beyond to make this safari a wonderful experience for my parents and I. Despite my parents' flight being delayed several days, then completely rescheduled a second time, the staff at Paka Adventures rebooked, adjusted, and reorganized our entire trip to make it possible for my parents to still enjoy a safari during their visit in Tanzania. When we finally made the trip, the driver was excellent, the lodge (Vuma Hills Camp) was beautiful and very nice, and we saw every animal we could have possibly hoped to--and even made it back to Dar on time despite spending extra time in the park watching a lioness and her cubs. An absolutely brilliant safari with a company who I will definitely use again and will recommend to everyone I know!

I would like to take this opportunity to say a very big Thank you for the 3 day Safari you organized for me last week. 2 days in the Mara and 1 day at Lake Nakuru.

The tour was fantastic we got to see an amazing amount of animals as well as The Big 5, and to top it all to see a cheetah kill. We were not expecting flamingos at Lake Nakuru due to the high water levels but were lucky to see a good flock of birds.

A very special thank you to Issac our guide, his professionalism was outstanding, and game guiding skills were fantastic, I think if it were not for him we would have not seen half of the wildlife that we did. Thanks Issac
