Call it the Tourist tax on pricing, especially when you see what you get for it
2/5

The safari's and guides themselves were great. Thank God I only did the 2 night, 3 day stay. The accommodations are terrible! I'd met a couple on the way down that did the cheaper "tented" version. There experience was much better- and cleaner. For the price you pay, you'd think it would be a stunning room. It is not. The locals I know in Cape Town informed me what it actually costs a local to do this for them. They tourist price us of course and
I'd be fine if I had a beautiful room with an amazing bed and stunning accommodations. This was 2 dirty not even the size of single bed beds, no frame to them, no skirt on the bottom box spring showing it for all it's dirtiness, a dirty shower, dirty walls, old dirty looking towels (they were clean but the vibe felt gross), everything felt dirty. I paid almost $800 for those two nights & not really 3 days. I thought that would mean a beautiful sleep in beauty. We all chatted over dinner on the condition of what we got and felt the same. My recommendation- book a stunning hotel separately. Book the safari's separately. it'll be the same or cheaper. And you can self drive as well but you'll miss out on the amazing information the guides give. You don't need to be suckered into this - some research and a tiny bit of effort and you can avoid all this bs.

Tanzania !!!!!
What a beautiful experience, Cape Dog exceeded my expectations, excellent tours, beautiful hotels, we ate very well and most importantly, great people who always made us feel at home. I would definitely repeat this trip with them. I recommend them to others and hope to return to Africa soon.

Amazing guide in beautiful Uganda
5/5

We had a great experience with the group and the guide at Murchison falls. The guide was really enthousiastic and because of that we enjoyed it. The daily program was various, first with the car, later with the boat and after that we hiked to the top of the Murchison falls. The nature and animals we saw were very beautiful. We will never forget it. Thanks for this amazing and unforgettable experience.

Awesome East Africa Trip
5/5

After making inquiries with a few companies, we found Matoke Tours offered trips to all the locations we were interested in. Our sales agent, Ilse, was fantastic. After hearing about the places and things we were most interested in doing, she suggested a custom 10-day itinerary for us (4 adults).

We flew into Kigali, Rwanda in order to reduce the travel time to Uganda, our first stop, to do the gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. After the gorilla trek, we were taken back to Rwanda to fly to Kilimanjaro, where we would start our Safari in Tanzania. Our trip included Tarangire National Park, the Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater.

Guides: the rangers in Bwindi Forest, our Uganda driver, Charles, and our guide and driver, Herbert, for all our time in Tanzania, were excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable, and professional - and very good drivers on those rough African roads.

Accommodations: we chose a mid-range level of accommodation for our lodging and every single accommodation was excellent. They felt more like luxury level accommodations instead of mid-range. Our lodge and bush camp in Tarangire and the Serengeti were incredible - beautiful, comfortable, and with the most attentive staff.

Food: meals were always delicious and plentiful

There were a few small glitches early on and we really felt that Matoke, as well as the local vendors and staff providing the services, handled them gracefully and efficiently and ensured that there was no adverse impact on our enjoyment.

All of our communication with Ilse in planning the trip, making payments, keeping us updated on any changes, providing helpful information was effortless. She was always responsive, replying to emails quickly and thoroughly. Matoke also provides travelers with a packet of helpful practical information for each country visited, which was invaluable, covering everything from currency and tipping, to customs and language.

We would happily recommend booking with Matoke.

We booked 5 nights/6 days budget safari with African Travel Tours and Shabani. Very flexible arrangement and exact as we wanted with basic arrangements and tents that we were helping setting up inside the National parks in Serengeti and Ngorongoro. Also visited Tarangirie and Arusha Naional Parks, great. Good driving and guiding provided and really good food! Some adventure when back wheel spring broke on our way from Serengeti was fixed in excellent way overnight so our magic journey into Ngorongoro was not jeopardized. We were all very satisfied with arrangements!

A Great Trip by Knowledgeable Guides
5/5

We were a group of 6 mature friends who engaged with Zim Travel and Tours for a Victoria Falls and Botswana experience in 10 days. We were not disappointed in their experience, effiency, helpfulness and friendliness. For a tour within our budget we felt we were well looked after. Blessing and Sheila were great guides and took us to places that gave us a taste of life in Zimbabwe and Botswana. Highlights were the Addo Elephant Park, sleeping under the stars on the salt pans ( amazing), Chobe Safaris, and seeing the Victoria Falls.
Sadly, the country was struggling with the effects of drought and there were low water levels at the Falls.
We would use them again. Feel we got good value for the money.
Accomodatios were clean with comfortable beds, but not 5 star, but we were not expecting that.
