Trip of a lifetime with Gazelle adventures
When planning and booking our honeymoon we were very cautious who to book with as we had read so many different stories of various safari booking tours and things that had gone wrong. Gazelle Adventures were outstanding from the first initial email all the way until the very end and we felt instantly safe and comfortable communicating with them; their customer service and attention to detail on email was second to none; special mention to Mei Ling.
NOTE: don’t be put off by the money transfer, it is safe and easy!
We booked the Kilimanjaro coffee tour and trek to the Materuni waterfall to begin with. Our driver (Christopher) met us from the airport and was so friendly. We completed the tour and then was driven to our hotel (African Tulip) in Arusha.
Our 4-day safari commenced the next morning. We chose a tailored safari, with Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Deo was our driver and picked us up from our hotel, everything was seamless. He was brilliant; he drove us all four days and was also our guide. His knowledge blew our minds. The route that was planned and the accommodation we selected we could not fault. For accommodation we chose to do a selection of “Comfort” and “Exclusive” options (mix of camps and lodges). We loved all of them and so pleased we did a selection.
Before we began our safari we had a briefing with Christopher who talked us through our itinerary, what to expect and what not to. He made sure we were happy and if we wanted to book any additions. He was so very helpful and also helped us change up our currency as we wanted to do it somewhere safe. He was a great help!
Deo was creative and picked routes to give us the best experience and see as much as we could. We felt spoilt with his knowledge and felt in very safe hands. He guided us to see The Big 5, including a pride of lions after a kill.
There was unlimited cold bottled water everyday, whenever we wanted it and lovely hot meals for lunch. It was perfection.
To top it all off, following the drop off back to Arusha, it was arranged for Christopher to transfer us to the airport for our week of relaxation in Zanzibar. This was an added extra and just emphasises Gazelle Adventures’s customer service

Amazing Safari
After booking the safari communication was via email with Johann, we needed to change our dates twice and he was very accommodating with this, he answered all our questions and kept us informed of other options. We met him when we were picked up at our hotel for our trip and he was very friendly and professional. Johann stayed in Nairobi and we had another guide. He was fantastic!!!! He knew a lot about the animals and the Masai Mara and was more than happy to tells us things and point out birds and animals we might not have seen. He was incredibly friendly and seemed to want us to see all the animals just as much as we did! He had a very good relationship with almost everyone we met. We had a tour of a Masai village but we're told exactly what to expect before we went and on the last day, as we'd seen practically every animal in the Masai Mara we went to one of the lakes near Nairobi and did a boat trip where we got even closer to the hippos. The accommodation was good and the food tasty. We also felt incredibly safe and protected which was great as we were three females travelling together.

It was exciting, fun, really, we obviously had a lot of different adventures on the trips and the flooding was quite unique.
The sequence of the trip was really good! Totally good timings and the pace was nice, not too busy, not too slow.
The Safaris were excellent, and given our unique time there, we were very lucky with what was around but also just the car etc.
On the logistics, totally great and you guys did a great job with organizing our trip from Mombasa and Diani.
One thing that would good would be to have local numbers of taxis or drivers in different locations like Diani, as an extra help when you land there, even though this is slightly outside of your core trip.
Last but not least, Tony - He’s a legend! I think having him as a driver made the trip and helped us have such an excellent experience with you guys. He’s an excellent driver, cautious and flexible. Took great care of us and frankly, I couldn’t have been happier with him. He’s also very funny and had the right balance of quiet time and funny conversations. He’s also a very good spotter so that helped a lot.
Genuinely, we have now some very fond fond memories and will likely return!

Be careful
Do not recommend. We planned a 2 week safari and spent thousands of dollars upfront. We had to cancel the safari months in advance due to Covid. Antony would not give us our money back as stated in the contract. We had to go to collections. Be careful.

All of us experienced an incredible vacation!
It all began when I met Angie Main at the San Diego Travel Convention. Because of her genuine warmth, I immediately trusted what she told me about what to expect on a South African Safari. It's now 6 months after we returned from our memorable vacation. If we were told that we could only ever go on one more vacation and asked where we would go, we would immediately reply South Africa with Go Touch Down Travel. It all started in September 2019 when four of us traveled on a l-o-n-g flight to Johannesburg where we were met by our guide, the full-of-knowledge, fun-loving, thoughtful Thabo. Oh, the beautiful sights we saw as he drove us from one destination to another! Staying at Dunkeld was our first eye-opener to South Africa. The staff was super helpful and kind; bending over backwards to meet our every need. And the food? WOW!!! Humala was breathtaking! We all LOVED our lodge; safe, comfy, and cozy. Our guide, Wessel, was always pointing out wildlife. To have zebras and giraffes casually strolling by our safari vehicle was awesome. Favorite events? Our daughter would probably say being mauled by a lion at Lion Safari Park (Yup, a little lion cub decided to chew holes in her sneakers!) and hugging and playing with Tumbo, the gigantic, gentle elephant at the Elephant Whisperers excursion. My husband's and my favorite would probably be the glorious morning hot air balloon ride over the Magaliesburg Valley. Our son-in-law would probably say EVERYTHING was incredible!

Really worked hard for us, modifying and rescheduling our Covid-19 canceled Botswana Safari
