The best choice!
5/5

This was the best safari we did in Tanzania.
Here is why… we booked spontaneously and everything went well. Booked in the evening and went on tour next morning. Our guide, Omary, was knowledgable, passionate about African Wildlife and gave the tour with his humor a wonderful ease. AND we saw them all, Elephants, Giraffes, lions, and and and
what cokld you ask for more …even the lunch was tasty. We can only highly recommend company and guide.

Extremely knowledgeable
5/5

I have booked trips to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia numerous times through African safari guru and have always been extremely happy. It is a great company run by the most passionate person I have ever known. His love for animals and Africa is unmatched.
I have got to the point where I just tell him the dates and nothing else and he plans me the perfect holiday. I don't even read the detailed itinerary he sends me anymore because I trust him so much and enjoy the surprise.
I can't recommend this company enough, they are beyond fabulous.

Disorganized and Poor Customer Service
1/5

We went with this company on back to back days…1 in Zanzibar and 1 in Kenya. On day 1, we were supposed to swim with dolphins and sea turtles. We were also supposed to have time to explore Jozani Forest. Instead, we spent most of the day in the bus (2+ hours of it were with it not moving). We had a short stop at a beach, but were told we had to make it quick to make it to our lunch reservation at The Rock Restaurant. We were assured that we would get a chance to swim with dolphins and sea turtles afterwards. While the meal was nice, it was very disorganized. After the meal was over, it took Marl approximately an hour to settle up the bill with each person in the group. Rather than spending an hour at the restaurant, it ended up being 2 hours which further pushed things behind. We were then told we wouldn’t be able to stop for dolphins because it was too hot for them. I found out later friends of ours with a different company did swim with dolphins. We were then given a choice of aquarium to see the sea turtles, Jovani Forest or go straight to the cruise ship we came in on. If we chose the turtles, we wouldn’t have time to swim with them. We chose Jovani Forest. We only had 20 minutes there due to the disorganization. We had to stay close by due to the short amount of time. Luckily, we did see a few monkeys. So…our group of 4 spent over $400 for a glorified meal, 20 minutes at a forest that we didn’t get to explore much of, and hours on a hot bus.

Since the company is from Kenya, we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We expected the next day to go smoother. We got off the ship and made our way to the Jeeps. We were told before the day started it would go smoother. We were told we would load up the jeeps in order of arrival and each jeep would leave immediately once filled. Did that happen? Nope. We waited an hour before getting started with the long drive to Tsavo East. Once there, we had to wait another hour and a half to get in because of “system error”. Even though there was a “system error” there were still other people going into the park who were with other tour groups. The safari itself was nice. We saw lots of animals. When it came time to leave though, I’m pretty sure our driver got lost. We didn’t leave the park until nearly an hour after the rest of our group had left the park. A lunch at Voi Lodge was supposed to be included. We were supposed to go to Masai Village. All of that was cut out.

Everything that went wrong on both days always had an excuse that was blamed on someone or something else rather than taking responsibility for their mistakes or their miscommunication. There was no attempt to reconcile what was promised to be included but wasn’t. There was no offer of a partial refund for the things we were supposed to do but didn’t get to do. We felt like we were taken advantage of. We felt like we were lied to. We felt like we were scammed. This is a company that I highly recommend others to AVOID!

Just Do It with JD Destinations!
5/5

We recently had the pleasure of working with Wilma Nichols of JD Destinations to plan a vacation to Zimbabwe and I must say, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish.
What’s more, our request to her was at short notice but despite that she managed to propose an itinerary that met our needs.
This is our first time visiting Zimbabwe so we had rely on her knowledge and experience of the best national parks and reserves to visit and the best safari camps to host us.
We also wanted to spend a few days at Victoria Falls on our way back and Wilma arranged all our accommodations and activities including an amazing helicopter ride over the falls.
Once we arrived at our destination all our arrangements went really well thanks to the excellent planning and attention to detail provided by Wilma and that included our light aircraft charters between the camps and Victoria Falls. What really impressed us was the level of personalisation Wilma provided. She took the time to understand our specific travel preferences and interests and tailored our itinerary to ensure that every aspect of our trip was perfectly suited to our needs. Throughout the entire planning process, Wilma was always available to answer our questions and concerns and provided regular updates on the status of our bookings.
Even during our vacation Wilma kept in touch with us to ensure everything went to plan.
We felt confident and well informed throughout the entire experience.
This is our second experience working with Wilma and we cannot recommend her enough to anyone looking to plan an unforgettable vacation.
The level of service and expertise provided by Wilma was truly exceptional and we look forward to working with her again in the future.

Adventuretour threw Tansania
4/5

Contact and planning went smoothly and in German. Special was that the guide was always on time and the lunch was cooked himself. In Africa, punctuality is usually not taken that seriously. During the tour we saw many animals and were able to collect impressions. It was a successful trip.

Amazing safari tour operator with a personalised touch
5/5

Zohar was very helpful and professional throughout, with great communication and constant updates.

Our safari was for our honeymoon and Zohar went above and beyond to make the safari extra special, with lots of lovely personalised surprises from start to finish.

Solomon, our safari guide, was incredible. We managed to see so much more wildlife than expected thanks to him, and we learnt more about the animals too. You spend a lot of time in the jeep with your guide and Solomon was great company throughout!

Would without a doubt recommend Zohar. 100/10!!

Amazing trip and experience thanks to Moraka!
5/5

I am not usually writing reviews, but we had such a great experience with Moraka Safari that it is with pleasure that we warmly recommend them. Latipher has been excellent at meeting all our expectations including when we faced issues with flights. Our guide was outstanding: if you need a good, experienced driver, who is fun and knows well the area, ask for Joseph: he is just outstanding and speak both French and English. This was truly an amazing trip, we saw all the big five and much more! Thanks to Moraka who made a real difference!

Personalized and attention to detail. Always available and willing to accomodate.
5/5

Thankful for a tour operator who was available around the clock to answer questions and address any concerns. I have already recommended African Plateau Expedition to my American friends.

About: Kenya
Majestic and Magical
Overall rating
5/5

We choose to safari in Kenya based on some feedback from friends and family, and someone who had just visited the Masai Mara National Park. Their descriptions were so beautiful we looked into it. It was truly magnificent. We were able to fly direct from NY to Nairobi (a huge plus for us!) and experience five national parks. The landscape at each one was unique and different. We saw an abundance of the big 5 and more. The people, places we stayed, everyone we interacted with were just wonderful. We are telling everyone we know - it is a trip of a lifetime.
