The ideal budget safari
5/5

I was really pleased with the experience! The tents in which we stayed were comfortable, clean and had an en-suite bathroom. The food was your typical local food and did the trick. The best part was probably the guide. He had over 9 years of experience doing safaris and was in constant radio communication with all the other guides in the park, which allowed him to effectively track the animals. I saw lions eating, leopards, cheetahs and all sorts of other wild animals that I never would have found on my own. I highly recommend this tour! The one thing that could be improved is the lunch during the second day and provision of snacks in between meals, but that really isn't a huge issue considering how much fun we had!

Professionals and excellent services and staff
5/5

Our trip was absolutely amazing and beyond every expectation. You and your staff, especially Apala, our guide and driver made our trip the most amazing adventure we have ever been on.Thank you for an amazing safari!(masai mara, lake nakuru, naivasha and momnasa). My experience with your company was incredible because you took care of everything from start to finish. Kenya is an amazing place, but its even more wonderful when you are with a great team whose guides and drivers love what they do and an experienced staff that truly cares about your safari and pays attention to every detail.

Fantastic day-trip safari to Pilanesberg
5/5

With a very short notice Matthew managed to arrange a day-trip safari from Johannes to Pilanesberg. Were picked up by 4 o'clock in the morning, drove to Pilanesberg and had a lot of fantastic sights of the animals. Matthew really showed his knowledge about the animals and were it was most likely to see them. The best part was when we had a good sighting, he turned off the engine and gave us the time to enjoy the animal and the sight.

I can only recommend African Safari Guru and Matthew. He gave us the perfect day.

Phenomenal time at Bwindi!
5/5

I went with two friends on the 3-day gorilla trek and it was lovely. Joseph picked us up from where we were staying and was very entertaining the whole way to Bwindi, making the 10-hour drive fly by. The lodging was the perfect mix between budget and luxury - the accommodation was impeccable, the food was wonderful, and the staff and proprietor were just lovely. Joseph was prompt, always happy and smiling, and always ready to respond to our inane questions and chatter. The tour itself was incredible. We trekked into the forest for a couple of hours and ended up spending an hour with a family of around 11 gorillas. They were so close to us! This definitely exceeded our expectations.

Outstanding Service
5/5

I found the guru on Trip Advisor and from first contact was impressed with Matt's service. He helped me plan my brief opportunity to do a Safari. Met me at airport arranged accommodation in Johannesburg at Hetherset Guest House then took me to Pilanesburg NP where I stayed at Black Rhino Lodge. Matt's recommendations and organisation were faultless, and he is very warm relationally. I commend him to you for your Safari experience.

Wonderful Kruger trip organizer and transfer from Joberg to Kruger!
5/5

Our group had the most amazing trip to Kruger and African Safari Guru Tours (Matthew) was a huge part of that wonderful experience. We were referred to Matthew through word-of-mouth. Matthew was very knowledgeable in helping us plan our trip. He was professional and prompt in his communications. He asked us what we were looking for and gave us a range of lodge/experience options within our budget. It was very easy to make all the arrangements through him. Matthew also personally met us at the airport and drove us to our lodge in Kruger. Although our flight was delayed arriving in Johannesburg that morning, which delayed our transfer to the lodge, Matthew called the lodge ahead of time and arranged for us to still make it to our lodge's afternoon game drive. Customer service at its finest because he wanted us to have as many game drives as we could fit in during our trip. Mathew also arrived early when he picked us up from the lodge and safely transferred us back to Johannesburg. We highly recommend using Matthew to make your travel accommodations throughout Southern Africa. He is trustworthy, knowledgeable and super friendly. You will not be disappointed!

5/5

Trip was wonderful! Drivers were knowledgeable and friendly. Our group got to see many animals and learn how they live in the wild. Hotels were cute with extras like great views and there was always plenty of choices for food. I would love to trip with this tour group again, very soon!

Astonishingly beautiful

Ngorongoro has been my favorite national park from our trip, where we also visited Serengeti, Tarangire and Manyara. The crater has a special climate, it is nevertheless on about 2,000 metres above sea level and there have always been some clouds on the crater rim, which made a great atmosphere. Compared to other national parks the crater seems so manageable - you kind of feel, that you can comprehend the whole place. But it nevertheless offers an amazing amount of wildlife and nature: jungle, lakes, a forrest, steppe etc. We've seen huge elephants, lots and lots of gnu's, gazelles and zebras, pumbas, ostriches, hyaenas, hippos, lots of lions, and also some rhinos. We spend our night at the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge, which is an amazing place, with an outstanding view over the crater. But the street to get there is awful, it took us forever on this wild road.

Fantastic 5 Star Luxury Safari with Tembo Adventure and Safaris
5/5

We were fortunate to have selected Tembo Adventure and Safaris for our trip to Africa this year. This is a top notch tour company owned and operated by a native Tanzanian family. Not only do they know the country and the animals like the back of their hand, but your tour dollars stay local and support the local economy and do not go a big multinational corporation. This was important to us as the local Tanzanian people are the ones who really work hard to protect their native wildlife.

Our 2 week Safari started in Arusha after an overnight flight from the states. We were greeted at Kilimanjaro International Airport at 0100AM by our English speaking tour guides in a nice clean 4X4 Toyota Landcruiser and promptly escorted to a beautiful 5 star hotel in Arusha. The following day we started our trip to Tarangire National park, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park. Each day we spent on game drives sighting and photographing wildlife of all sorts including but not limited to lions, elephants, black rhinos, zebras, giraffes, cheetahs, leopards dik diks, Impalas, hippos, alligators, and many many others. Our guides were able to get us into the middle of the wildebeest migration and we were able to see first hand the hundreds of thousands of animals traveling across the plains of the Serengeti. Each night we stayed in luxury accommodations. Sometimes lodges and sometimes tented camps but each location was top notch and we were well taken care of by our Tembo guides and the hotel staff. Food was excellent and plentiful. We had numerous boxed picnic lunches outside on the game drives and each one was tasty and filing. Food was so plentiful that we actually gave our lunch left-overs to the less fortunate people in the area. Dinners and breakfasts were often a large buffet of western (US and European) and local dishes so we had opportunity to sample much of the local cuisine. The entire trip went off without a hitch and our guides worked tirelessly to ensure that we saw every type of game imaginable and that we were happy and healthy the entire trip.

I cannot say enough good things about Tembo Adventure and Safari. They truly made a good trip into a fantastic trip. Trust them to make your add-on arrangements to Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro or anything else your heart desires. They are true professionals with a local flair who will ensure that your trip to Africa is fun, safe and rewarding.
