The Big Five--And Much More!
5/5

I had booked my photo safari in 2019 for the following year but the COVID-19 pandemic pushed my plans back and back and back. My wife was killed in January 2023 and I was going to cancel my trip--Go Touchdown was very understanding. But friends told me to go ahead and take the trip in my wife's memory. I had lots of questions and apprehensions about the trip and the Go Touchdown folks (mainly Lucia) patiently addressed all of them.

The trip itself was wonderful. I wanted to take photos of the African animals and was not disappointed. Of course, I had a focus on the “Big Five” and I was able to get outstanding photos of all of them. Even though it was not "bird season" there was sufficient quantities and variety of birds to photograph. The free-roaming animals were almost close enough to touch from the safety of our jeeps. The guides were phenomenal--very knowledgeable without being "academic." I thought I knew a lot about animals before the trip but I learned so much more on the safari. (Do you know that hyena poop is white because of their diet of bones?) Accommodations were very good everywhere we went and the food was fantastic.

Our small group (9 guests plus drivers/guides in 2 vans) was perfect--great personalities, interesting people, funny, friendly. One couple had visited Chobe National Park before the start of our trip and recommended it highly because of the large variety and numbers of animals. Thanks to the flexibility and responsiveness of the Go Touchdown team I was able to change my tour to include Chobe and still go to Victoria Falls. Overall, I couldn't have been more pleased with the Go Touchdown Safari experience.

I would recommend you avoid at all costs
1/5

We had a terrible experience with them. The driver/guide showed little interest in providing us with a satisfactory experience. He barely spoke to us during the 8-day safari and made no effort to establish any sort of rapport. We had to initiate conversations and invite him to join us for dinners. Despite having chairs and tables in the car, he didn't attempt to find pleasant spots for us to enjoy lunch with a view. Instead, he suggested having lunch in the car on several occasions, even after spending the entire morning there.

We opted for a mid-tier safari, but the packed food was atrocious, especially lunches. (Dinners, especially at Nyerere Camp and Ruaha were excellent)

We understand that box lunches are typically simple, but in this case, they were inedible. The chicken was so dry it might as well have been a rock, and despite my partner being vegetarian, they got the order wrong three times. After informing our driver of the mistake the first time, he neglected to double-check the following day, forcing us to inspect the lunch box ourselves.

The car got also stuck once, which of course can happen as its part of the experience but the guide/driver did not even say sorry, he just silenced himself and we did not know what was happening or how long that might have taken.

Additionally, at one of the camps, the food was excessively chewy to the point where I experienced gum inflammation. After reporting this to Ibrahim, the safari organizer at LuiTours, he changed our accommodations. However, he then proceeded to ignore us, failing to respond to any further communication. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. Avoid LuiTours at all costs.

Honeymoon safari in Jan 2024
5/5

My husband and I went on a safari for our honeymoon in Jan 2024 with Tanzania Specialist. Everything was well-organised, communication with Angel was great, but most importantly the lodges were of high-standard, the food was of quality and our guide/driver Simon, was super nice and knowledgeable. Service was on top from beginning to the end. We really enjoyed travelling with Tanzania Specialist and we would definitely recommend them to friends and family.

Mister Senior Zimbabwe photo shoot on a Wonderfully Guided Safari of Victoria Falls
5/5

One of the best mornings of my life. I can’t believe so many people miss out on the sunrise in Victoria Falls…I actually ended up having a private tour with one of the guides of Savannah Adventures, and we barely saw any other tourists. Communication and pickup with Taf went well and we arrived right on time - actually a couple of minutes before the park employees and we were the first ones through the gate. The early morning rainbows were fantastic and something i will never forget. My guide‘s name from Savannah Adventures escapes me but he was very enthusiastic and also a great photographer. He kept asking if I was alright because I was very quiet - honestly, the views had simply taken my breath. Its something everyone going to Victoria Falls should be doing...its a once in a lifetime experience. Thanks for offering that tour to me.We highly recommend

The value for your money is beyond anything I could comprehend. The budget safari was more than I ever expected, and I would’ve been willing to pay triple what I did for the experience I got

Exceeded the expectations every way.

Arranged a rather last minute trip for my family (started arranging 2 weeks before departure) - we flew overnight to Dar, from there to Arusha arrivinga at 09 hrs and started immediately our safari with LionKing (got numerous offers and negotiated a tailor-made solution from that for us adding some things and removing some, they were the most flexible, sensibel and communicative, thnx Gordon!)
In 2 hrs were in Tarangire (might have been the only mistake we made as we were rather sleepy the first day having almost not slept on flight - so did not get to appreciate all as intensely, snoozed some naps in between).

Our guide Salehe was top noch - competent, friendly, not overbearing. Drove safely - that we come to appreciate especially seeing some broken or stuck vehicles.

First night in Karatu, from there transit of Ngorongoro and around south rim of Serengeti - lions, elephants and giraffes a plenty. But that also yielded a leopard on a tree and 3 cheetahs sleeping in grass from ca 5m distance. And to crown it our guide found first a lion in bush. We got stuck, so had to wait. From there a lioness with 3 cubs emerged, and went for a drink nearby. We got out as well. For overnight at Noyora lodge inside Serengeti that was fantastic (will review separately). 3-rd day inside serengeti - lions, elephant herds (biggest ca 40), giraffes. But also hippo ponds and a croco. Zebras and wildebeest as long as eye could take. Back on 4-th day through Ngorongoro - adding flamingos and 2 rhinos - albeti those from quite some distance. And were extremely lucky to see 2 young male lions attemt a hunt on buffalos. To our daughters delight a narrow miss. But part of the case was literally 10 m away from our car. last night in Kartau Marera Lodge again. I had specifically asked also for Manyara lake, compared to others it was not so exciting (we only had the last morning) but still happy we saw it - pity the flood damage (dried acacias) and the fact waterbirds are gone (supposedly agricultural pesticides flow from upstream). In sum, almost perfect, esp the parts LionKing was doing.

Perfect trip which offered any of the best attractions of Kenya and Tanzania - best guides for sure!
5/5

We had the pleasure to have a Safari with Raja, starting and ending in Nairobi, following several national parks in Kenya and Tanzania. Both of our guides (Jeff & Alan) were very kind and patient with a lot of specific knowledge and very safe driving skills. All the lodges we visited were on a very high standard and we enjoyed any of the stays. The mixture of lodges and tented camps was perfect any we do not have any complaints about this.
To our Safari-experience, we were extremely lucky to see all the big five within the days in a very rare condition, for example some cubs or hunting lions - just breathtaking! Thanks to the big experience and knowledge of the two guides, we had some very special encounters. Specially to talk about Lake Ndutu, which is not on every list for Safaris but very worth to make a stop between Serengeti and Ngorongoro NP.

Last but not least as well big thanks to Rajab from RajaTours, very easy to organize the safari, very good price for an unforgetable trip in Kenya and Tanzania. Thanks a lot!

Fiona at Inspired Feet Safaris was more than just a tour operator! She was our anchor in Kenya!
5/5

Having booked a budget safari, we knew to expect basic meals and accommodations. Still, everything was well organized and the time in the parks was unbelievable!

Fiona from Inspired Feet Safaris kept us informed and checked in on us regularly during our 7 days! While so many of our tour mates were having issues with their tour operators, Fiona was always accessible and reliable! She made sure to give us details and tricks to makes sure we had a great time on safari.

The parks are stunning, the wildlife breath-taking!

And I can't say enough about Fiona and Duke. They are a relatively young company that deserves to be recognized and supported! Not only were they helpful before and during the safari, they kept in touch during our second leg of the trip to the east coast of Kenya. We were lucky to meet with them before our flight home and even had a nice meal and a drink with Duke in Nairobi.

Do not hesitate to visit Kenya for safari, and definitely, do not hesitate to work with Fiona at Inspired Feet !
