Wonderful 7 day Safari
5/5

We had a wonderful 7 day safari private tour with Shemeji Safari. Everything exceeded our expectations. We were on a budget, but luxury-on-a budget is what we got. Our guide Edward was excellent, he suited our easy going style and made us feel like family. The food and accommodation was exceptional and we loved the hut and tented accommodation. All the arrangements appeared seamless to us, but we know that this is because of all the hard work that goes on from the start so a special thanks to Emma.

Our guide somehow understood how to navigate this flat, shimmery, beautiful landscape and we saw lots of bird species.

We took a mid-day (motored) game drive and still saw lots of animals, including lions. We took a pontoon trip in late afternoon/sunset and were able to see elephants, crocodiles and hippos up close, which was really special.

Singular opportunity to track animals on foot and by makuro (dugout canoe).

I spent about 48 hours in the Okavango Delta, where I saw zebra and elephants up close, hippos (close enough!) and learned about the unique habitat through guided walks and makuro trips. We had the opportunity to try our hand at poling a makuro, and were able to interact meaningfully with local guides. This was a different and refreshing pace from motored game-drives. It allowed us to feel like an integrated part of this special habitat, just another small herd.

Botswana seems to really understand conservation through eco-tourism. Our guides helped us understand and uphold the ethos, "take only photographs, leave only footprints," which enhanced not diminished our experience. I'd love to return.

Excellent Safari
5/5

When I imagined being out on a safari, I could not have imagined how incredible our driver Aroni would be. He was knowledgeable, friendly and worked extremely hard to ensure our group got the most out of our time. He explained so much about the animals, their behaviour, the challenges facing their species and so much more. We learned so much about the wildlife, and Kenya as a country.

The only disappointment was through no fault of Karibu our driver or anyone else. There are no more flamingos at Lake Nakuru. Recent flooding over the last few years has changed the conditions of the water such that the birds can no longer fly there and eat. While that was the reason we went to Lake Nakuru, it was such a beautiful park that I am glad we went there anyway.

We were communicating with Robert who was very good with his responses and answered our questions clearly.

Thank you so much to the team and specially Aroni who made this an incredible trip.

I am due to go on safari in a few days and It started in Africa have stopped responding to requests
1/5

It started in Africa has gone bankrupt and has not communicated to us and we are booked to leave in a few days. I stupidly paid my deposit in cash transfer. Any tips on how to retrieve my money would be gratefully appreciated. They have disabled their facebook page!

Many thanks, Amy, Joey, Georgia (11) & Dylan (10)

About: 4x4 Uganda
Great experience and great adventure!
5/5

I connected with Paul over the internet after emailing a couple different rental companies and I got a good feel for Paul. He always responded back thoughtfully and within a reasonable time - having never been to this part of Africa it was a bit of a difficult thing to feel out - but a gut feel was all I really had to go on. We agreed on a Land Cruiser Prado and he also arranged our Gorilla Permits free of charge (we had to pay the permit fee, but he got them for us at no additional charge).

Paul met us at the airport and gave us a quick run through of the car and some important bits and pieces about driving on the roads in Africa. My fiancee and I proceeded to drive the car just over 1500km in 10 days including spending time in the Masai Mara (crossing the border in to Kenya) and all the way down to Rwanda. Paul arranged everything we needed to cross the borders as smoothly as possible - but the thing you have to remember is that in Africa nothing is ever as easy as you hope it will be.

Regardless, the car was in good shape and handled the roads (and pot holes) as well as can be expected. A couple of tire repairs were necessary but Africa is full of service shops who can patch and repair tires. We did ask Paul to get us a new spare which he agreed to and met us out on the road after one tire was unfortunately beyond repair.

Wonderful experience and an absolutely incredible way to see more of Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya than I ever imagined I would. It's a pretty special part of the world and the people are - for the most part - wonderful and very kind.

Paul and 4x4 Uganda are two things you can put your trust in while planning your trip. Highly recommended.

5 day Selous and Mikumi budget safari
5/5

We picked Hello Tanzania to organize the above trip based on their reviews and what seemed to be good value for money, and we were in no way disappointed.
Communication was fast and alle questions and requests were delt with efficiently. We used Whatsapp to stay in touch during the safari.
We stayed in Hippo Camp the first 2 nights. Basic accomodation in a beautiful location right at the banks of a big river. The last nights at Camp Bastian, an equally nice place with helpful staff and nice food.
Booking a safari online without previous experiences can feel a bit risky but we are glad we decided to go for a local agency and can recommend Mrs Mwajabu Mo and her excellent staff. Service was personal and kind and she stayed in touch during the trip to make sure everything was going as planned. We had the same driver for all 5 days and felt safe and in very good company.
A very pleasant experience.
