Just go!
5/5

Thanks Matoke for helping make our trip to Uganda something really special! We spent three weeks in this stunning country - two weeks volunteering at a school and a week on two separate tours with Matoke. From the very beginning Matoke provided a fantastic service - they were quick to respond to all our questions and provided all the information we needed to ensure we had the best tours possible. Our guide - Richard - was fantastic. In half a day at Murchison Falls we saw three lions, elephants, crocodiles, giraffes and so much more! Trekking to see the gorillas in Bwindi was one of the most amazing experiences I have had - not just for the gorillas, but this whole region is one of the most beautiful places I have seen. I would definitely travel with Matoke again.

Thanks to Richard for this amazing 6 days safari. Our driver Stanley and our cooker suko were very good and friendly. They did their best for us and we saw the big five. The food was very good. It was incredible and we really loved our safari. All is provided from the agency (tents, pillow, mattress, food, water.....). During the safari we felt very safe. Definitely i recommand the tour with world tours and safari tanzania

Once again, African Welcome Safari came through for us to organize a trip of a lifetime!
5/5

Once again African Welcome Safari came through for us! We travelled to South Africa in 2013 and this year, when came time to book our second trip to Africa , there was no hesitation! Kathi from African Welcome Safari was going to be our go-to person to put it together. As we wanted to visit Botswana, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Namibia, we knew it would be much easier to deal with someone with knowledge and experience, as opposed to having to search the Web for hours on end to find the best place to stay, how to get from point A to point B, etc. Within a few e-mails back and forth with Kathi, she was able to put together a great itinerary that would allow us to experience the best these countries have to offer! From flights and transfers between countries, car rentals, to lodges and tented camps, everything she booked for us was extraordinary!!!! If you are looking to organize your trip to the great continent of Africa, African Welcome Safari is your best option!

Amazing Safari, Well Planned
5/5

My girlfriend and I wanted to send a word of thanks for organizing such a wonderful safari for us. Klasserie Sands River Camp was absolutely stunning, we truly loved it. The owners, ranger and staff were all amazing. Our accommodations were wonderful and the food outstanding - Angie's cooking is unforgettable. We saw all the big five -- just awesome. It was a real treasure.

HoneyGuide was unique and different and we loved our time there as well! An elephant came right up to our tent. Tents were understandably less luxurious but the proximity to the animals and being immersed in the safari bush experience -- it was perfect.

Thank you so much! We can't thank you enough for organizing such a terrific trip for us.

An unexpected most memorable trip in the capable hands of Stephen!
5/5

Just today, my elderly mother brought up the stunning trip we had in the Graskop area with Stephen Joubert, several months ago;
My mother at 84 yrs is a Matriarch of note and generally complains about everything and anything, However in Stephens' company, the dour complaining Matriarch, became a young -at-heart Lady, mesmerized and thrilled by his intrepid and qualified leadership, his knowledge left us all gaping with awe. My mother was totally absorbed and hung on every word Stephen had to impart. I was amazed at the joyful memory my mother will be carrying with her all the last days of her life. Thanks Stephen for making the trip such a memorable one! She is begging to have one more such trip.....We will Be Back!

It's A Jungle Out There! Don't Go With Anyone Else!!
5/5

This was to be the holiday of a lifetime and, thanks to the efforts and expertise of "It Started in Africa" and our guide, Barraka, it most certainly was!

We wanted to do a little voluntary work, so the company built in a 3-day visit to Buloma Orphanage, near Dar es Salaam, at the beginning. To meet these children and the wonderful people who look after them was both an honour and a delight. While the gifts we brought from our school in Doha (Sherborne Qatar) made a great impact on the kids, the impact they made upon my children (and their parents) will last a lifetime!

From Dar es Salaam, we then flew to Arusha to begin our safari. The flight, with Precision Air, was a pleasure and, about 10 minutes after touching down at Kilimanjaro Airport, we were in the Land Cruiser with Barraka and off on the most interesting and exciting trip of our lives.

While I can't credit the company on the wildlife, I must say that Barraka's knowledge and experience helped fill each day with amazing sights. To be up-close (really close!) with lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, rhinos, wildebeest, cheetahs, leopards, buffalo, gazelles and warthogs was truly amazing. Also, the birdlife and plants of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro were a joy to behold.

While the food was not exactly cordon bleu, it was wholesome, plentiful and much appreciated. We didn't go to Africa to eat out!

The company ensured that we were well-equipped and comfortable while also experiencing sufficient inconvenience to feel we were 'roughing it'! The campsites of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro were basic. Once again, if we wanted pools, bars and Wifi, we would have gone to France...

For a trip to Kilimanjaro, we were delivered into the hands of Lyimo, a friendly, wise and enthusiastic guide whose great-grandfather was a guide on the first recorded ascent in 1896! He guided us to 9000ft, where we spent the night in beautiful wooden cabins. Lyimo's knowledge and expertise made the whole trip memorable and enjoyable (despite the aches and pains that followed!)

One thing that delighted us was the choice of guest house at the start and end of our stay. 'Christina's House' is a quirky, beautiful two-storey guesthouse, with seperate restaurant near Arusha. The food is first class, cooked to order by Rosie and the rooms are a model of sophisticated simplicity.
By bringing guests to such places, "It Started in Africa" is working to stimulate and nurture local enterprise.

I could go on and on... This was an excellent trip which left us with many great memories and an abiding love for Tanzania. This could not have happened without the excellent work of "It Started in Africa" and I cannot recommend them highly enough.
