We spent 3days in Masai Mara and it was incredible. The accommodation was fantastic, spacious, private and the camps chef made excellent food. The guide was excellent I only wished I could stay there longer.

It was bloody Phenominal
5/5

Going to Tanzania culminated a dream that began in fourth grade geography class. I remember clearly learning about the densely forested Northeast where Mount Kilimanjaro is located- which is, by the way, the highest free standing mountain in the world. Furthermore, my obsessive drawings of three of Africa's great lakes in Art class further showcased my desire to visit this great land. Lake Victoria- one of the biggest lake in the world, Lake Tanganyika the continent's deepest lake and Lake Nyasa. I remember dreaming about the open grass plains of Serengeti which is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and scientific value. Over the years, as I grew up, I feared my dreams were a bit to idealistic and imaginary until I finally decided to visit the land of my dreams with Safari Big 5 and boy was I amazed. Through the excellent service of Safari Big 5, my experience on February 2016 was truly magical. It was definitely an experience where reality exceeded expectations.

The service offered by Safari Big 5 was perfect. I was in constant correspondence with my trip advisor who marvellously organised my detailed trip. I was cheerfully greeted as soon as I landed and from there everything was seamless. I visited Kilimanjaro, Serengeti National Park and Zanzibar. I cannot explain how wonderful each place was so I urge anyone who is, like me, dreaming about visiting Tanzania to go there themselves and enjoy the experience with Safari Big 5.

The Safari Company of our dreams
5/5

If you are researching for the Safari Company of your dreams- you can stop looking because you have just found it!

Before starting to write this review me and my boyfriend really tried to come up with one single feedback that we could give to Tanzania Explorer but honestly, we could not come up with one single thing. So if you are a traveller that likes to read about both positive and negative aspects of an experience, you better stop reading now because you will not be able to find anything else than positive information in this review!

To sum it up: Tanzania Explorer is by far the best travel company that we have ever experienced and I have worked in the travel industry during different periods of my life and have never ever met a travel company like Tanzania Explorer- they are simply outstanding!
Here is why:

Pre-travel:
As a safari traveller, researching which travel organizer and park that you want to go to is essential for the success of your trip! Good thing you do not need to do all of that research because we just did it for you :) We researched for safari organizers for several weeks without really feeling that we had found a perfect match, a perfect match for our budget as well as for our requests. And then we got in contact with Sondre at Tanzania Explorer and that was it! Sondre quickly understood what type of travellers we are and responded promptly with multiple different safari solutions and packages in the park Selous Game Reserve as we had requested since we had heard that this park would be wonderful! All of the solutions were customized to fit both our interest, personalities as well as our budget. He made sure that we would get the very most out of our budget and furthermore provided us with multiple different options of camp accommodations to stay at. He responded extremely quickly on all of our questions, day & night, and a month before departure we had almost daily contact were he was a true star on providing customer service and gladly assisted in any matter!

During-travel:
All the way from when we arrived to the airport in Dar Es Salaam until the end of our safari we had the time of our lives! Our wonderful safari guide Rashid was very knowledgeable and made sure to adapt our daily safari tours to our own preferences on which type of animals that we wished to see! And here comes a common misunderstanding- being on a safari should not be like the experience of visiting a zoo= of course you can not be guaranteed to see every single animal that you would like to see! But exactly that is what makes safari with Tanzania Explorer so special: Rashid started every morning by asking us what preferences we had for our upcoming day and during every day he managed to track the animals that we really wanted to see- even the wild dog!
Another highlight of our days at the safari with Rashid was our fantastic lunch hours! Rashid set the table in scenic locations where we could eat & relax for some time before continuing the rest of our safari day!
During our time in Selous Game Reserve we stayed at two different camps, Selous Great Water Lodge and Selous River Camp. Both of the camps are camps that we can highly recommend any couple/family/group that are looking for an authentic experience.

During our 4 day safari tour we were able to go on 1 boat safari, 2 full Game-Drives and one Walking Safari- we loved them all and we felt like this set-up was a wonderful way to get a diverse experience of all the animals and their habitants. After 3 nights in Selous Game Reservoir it was unfortunately time to leave the wilderness behind but our adventure continued with another 10 days at Zanzibar! At Zanzibar we made our hotel bookings after recommendations from Sondre and we also received a lot of helpful tips from Banja, one of Tanzania Explorer´s representatives on the island, on what to do and see to get the most out of our island life at Zanzibar.

Post-travel:
Arriving back home from sunny Tanzania to a -26 degrees snowy and cold Sweden was not an easy game but just an hour after landing we got an email from Tanzania Explorer checking that everything had worked out well with our flight and that we were safe & sound!

Both my boyfriend and I love to dive and during our last dive on Zanzibar he completely shocked and surprised me by proposing on the bottom of the ocean. After 8 years together, the answer was of course a happy YES!
When arriving back home I also got the information from my boyfriend that Sondre and Tanzania Explorer had even been involved in trying to find solutions for getting my engagement ring all the way to Zanzibar and this really closed the deal of our whole experience with Tanzania Explorer- they really go the extra mile to create the experiences of a life time!

Tanzania Explorer, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for a once in a life time journey with you! We will never forget it or you, and we will come back for sure one day!

Best of luck and warm wishes from Sweden,

Frida & Stefan

Our Trip was simply Amazing!!!
5/5

My husband and I went on a 10 day Safari with Galloping Safari in January 2016.
When we arrived at Kilimanjaro International Airport we were welcomed by Walter and our Guide James.
Where can you expect the head of the Safari company(Walter) personally coming to welcome you.
This company's motto is "we are here to serve you". They stood by this motto, right from day 1.
Our accommodation was excellent and the food amazing and I haven't even started talking about the Safari experience.
Accommodation: we experienced a bit of everything- tents, lodges and hotel. I can assure you that they really pay a lot of attention to details. Right from where we stay to how we are taken care of. There are no surprise additional costs in these accommodation other than tips, which we are already aware. Food was excellent and prepared according to our dietary needs. Don't forget you are in the middle of the forest and yet you are taken care very well by these friendly people. Always with a smile and the expression "Akuna mattata"
Our experience with the Safari: Our guide James was simply amazing and acted proactively, and carefully paying attention to our needs. We saw the Big Five within a few days of our Safari. Although the roads are unpaved and bumpy we didn't feel it much-thanks to our very skillful driver.
This is a company you can trust. They don't make any false promises and they mean what they say. There are no additional or extra costs and everything is dealt with upfront. They send you a program well in advance and you can work with them to meet your interests. There is not one negative comment I can share on this Company.
Their smiling faces and eagerness to make your trip as pleasant, enjoyable and adventurous as possible will be greatly appreciated by you. Guaranteed.
We have already started referring this company to our friends and family.
I wish this company a grand future.

Great Value, Great Service, Truly Excellent Staff!!!
5/5

I cannot say enough about how great my experience was with Big Time Safaris. From the very beginning, they went out of their way to accommodate my crazy arrival plans and actually dispatched someone to scoop me up so to help me be on time for my safari to Masai Mara. I was running really late and my plans were on the verge of completely falling apart when they dispatched private transport to pick me up and get me where I needed to be (without extra fees or charges!). No other safari company would have gone out of their way in this fashion. Truly, I wouldn't have had my vacation plans intact if they hadn't intervened to help me. In addition, when I lost my property, they actually sent someone - and I'm not making this up- hundreds of miles away to find my lost property and then drove it to where I was in Masai Mara to return it to me. I mean, who does that?! Big Time Safaris, that's who. They deserve awards for that kind of customer service. They were just on a whole different level. I mean, really nice staff and willing to go above and beyond to help their clientele in their time of need. On top of all this, they offered the best safari deal in Kenya with amazing access to the park with an experience that was unforgettable. Not only did they salvage my trip from falling apart, they made it spectacular. They were the key difference in me having an amazing time and they were such lovely, generous people in the process. I will definitely be giving them my business next time I'm in East Africa.

Great trip !
5/5

Forested areas along the riverbank, isolation from other camps in the Lower Zambezi, and excellent guides make Anabezi a fantastic camp for walking safaris in Zambia. High densities of wildlife make for great game viewing on foot.

5/5

Thrilling experience never been that close to wild animals and had such a connection with them. The traveling was awesome both the driver and CEO Mike were amazing, all the people that worked in this company are really caring and generous, they love seeing smiles on your face. The food was heavenly and the sites looked unreal. Your drivers will be willing to get that bit closer for a perfect photo. Be sure to buy the full package, it's so worth it. P.S. most awesome CEO I've ever been in touch with.
