TRIP OF A LIFETIME - ALL THANKS TO STANZA & TEAM!
5/5

My sisters and I booked a 5 night/6 day safari in Botswana with African Bush Lovers (for a party of 6 people). The entire experience from inquiry, to booking, to arriving, to game driving was magically organized and perfectly executed!

Before we committed to booking with African Bush Lovers, we were in touch with Kenewang (goes by Kenny), the co-owner of the company. From the moment of first contact, we knew we found the PERFECT safari company. African Bush Lovers is locally owned and operated by Kenny and her husband, Stanza (more to come on this GEM of a human!). Both Kenny and Stanza are natives of Botswana and they are super helpful and very friendly.

In late May, our party of 6 flew into Maun to meet up with the African Bush Lovers team. The moment we got through customs, we were greeted by our fearless Professional Nature Guide, Stanza. Stanza is a veteran nature guide with over 10 years of experience. Our group wholeheartedly agreed, Stanza was the BEST guide and we trusted him with our lives.

During our safari experience, we went to the Moremi Game Reserve, Savuti and Chobe National Park. Stanza’s safari vehicle (lovingly named the “Gods Must Be Crazy”) was incredibly comfortable and spacious. In addition, Stanza’s off-road driving skills were GREAT!

Stanza WOWED us daily with his knowledge about all of the nature and wildlife. The amount of wildlife we saw during our game drives exceeded ALL of our expectations. Some highlights from our game drives include: 1 male leopard, 4 male lions, a pride of female lions (on a hunt!!), a handful of crocodiles, dozens of giraffes, a couple herds of zebras, at least 50 hippos, and at least 500 elephants. By the end of the safari, we were all convinced that Stanza was part eagle due to his perfect long-distance vision. Also, his ability to identify tracks/dung/bird calls was next level ! In addition to the wildlife, Stanza shared a lot of context and stories about the history, culture and people of Botswana. Such a treat!

Stanza and his team were quick to accommodate every need and desire we had while on safari. We had great camp sites, comfortable camping equipment (we opted for the semi-luxury accommodations), AND plenty of drinks and delicious food. They even included tea time during our game drives! They planned for EVERYTHING. For our meals, our chef Moffatt and his sous chef, Simba, prepared delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner meals. Every dinner was a decadent multi-course meal. It seemed like Moffatt was on a mission to make us gain weight

Trip of a lifetime
5/5

All communication with Mama Savana was done by e-mail, which was always answered promptly. Alex was very helpful and patient with me. The safari was spectacular, we saw the big 5 and many other animals, cheetah, leopards, elephants, zebra, giraffe, lion cubs playing, a day old elephant were particularly memorable. Harun, our driver was very knowledgeable and answered all our guestions.
We also spent 5 days in Zanzibar. Stonetown is beautiful and we should have stayed there another day, there's so much to see and explore. The resort and beach were like being in paradise. All our accommodations were comfortable and meals were delicious. It was definitely the trip of a lifetime for my family and myself. We left Africa with many warm memories and feeling like we are part of the Mama Savana family.

Ute did a fantastic job from start to finish
5/5

Ute did a fantastic job with our trip from arranging everything to helping us when our flight to Africa got delayed and we needed to make last minute changes. Even after a bag was lost and took another 24 hours to get to Nairobi, she figured out how to get the bag to our camp. We would gladly use Roho Ya Chui again.

Fulfilling experience. Welcoming staff. Good communication.
5/5

Pros: Staff is remarkable. Peter communication while planning the trip was on point. Mutemi driving/guiding skills went beyond our expectations. He truly made sure to give us the best experience possible (that includes that he cleaned the car everyday and was always on time).

Plentiful bottled water was provided.

Our stay at Zebra Mara Plains was lovely.

Cons: They don’t take credit cards, so the whole Swift transfer can be a little tedious.
Although the Land Cruiser performance was good, we saw that some companies have cars that are better equipped.

Excellent service with memories made forever
5/5

They had excellently communication with us. There was no hard sell, giving you time to decide which safari would suit you best. We went on an safari for 3 days and 2 nights stay in Katatu in a country lodge with all meals included. The lodge was very comfortable and clean, the staff were very helpful. Lovely peaceful stay. The driver (William) was very helpful and supportive. He also was very knowledgeable about the areas we visited. Making it an amazing experience for us to never forget.

We had a versatile safari experience as a high-light of our journey
5/5

+ Communication (pre-safari) was fast
+ Our guide was very good and an excellent story teller
+ Food (local specialities prepared by the guide‘s wife) was delicious
+ Combination of Kruger camps + Sabi Sands luxury accommodation gave us a more holistic idea of the different types of parks and safari styles
- panorama route was below our expectation (looking back we‘d rather choose to spend one more day in the Kruger nationalpark because)

Excellent service, great places, punctual to the minute!
5/5

It has been a great experience to have Discover Africa to organise our luxury safari to Botswana. We have experienced great attention by Matthys van Aswegen from the first contact onwards. At the last minute one of our party of four had to arrive on a later flight in Maun, but Matthys fixed the schedule, and the person flew to the lodge on small plane. The party even managed to get together for the first game drive at Leroo La Tau. We stayed in three lodges, all were great, all of the staff amazing (they nursed their guests), and we enjoyed watching the animals and birds (more than 100 species). Everything was as promised and if anything better than expected.

Highly recommended!
