Saadani National Park offers excellent birding in a variety of habitats. Boat trips on the mangrove-lined Wami River are great for marine and riverine birds, including mangrove kingfisher, while the nearby salt ponds often host large flocks of greater and lesser flamingo. Inland, you’ll see many grassland species and you should look out for raptors such as bateleur, brown snake eagle and eastern chanting goshawk. Migratory birds are present from November to April.
