South Africa has everything in one country - and the variety of cultures make for a very pleasant vibe.
SA is a wonderful safari destination. Great people, a unbelievable variety in scenery, fascinating wildlife. First world infra structure.
The only reason for not making higher ratings is that this Reserve is on a smaller scale than the ones I have seen on TV.

Whales, sharks, Ostriches, Baboons, Dazzies, lions, tigers, crazy spikey trees. everthing in south Africa is just over sized (and slightly dangerous , in a good way)....
South - Africa is a great safari destination because you will find all that you are looking for in the country. From open savana, bushvelt or thick woodlands in Knysna. The people are friendly and the climate is pleasant.

380 species of bird, all of africans important land mamals including the "Big 5" such as Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo as well as Cheetah, Wild dog and the secretive 7.
We like to visit several parts of a country with our own (rented) car. In South Africa you can drive to every safari park you 'd like to see. In most of the parks you can drive in your own car, or book a game drive with a ranger.

In the northern part of the country, we stayed with a friend on a private game reserve and were able to see the local wildlife up really close (incl. antelope, zebra and giraffe). We also visited another private game reserve a few kilometers away where we were driven all over in an open topped truck. That was a lot of fun. There was a lot of wildlife in some very beautiful countryside.
The southern coast is also stunningly beautiful and you'll see plenty of wildlife there as well.
