Unspoiled beauty
It was an amazing trip, I only wish that it was longer, I would've liked to spend more time at the Ngorongoro crater. It was definitely the highlight of this trip, a unique ecosystem that's been preserved in it's present state for many years. We were fortunate to see a pack of hyenas hunt wildebeest, that's not something I'd ever expected to see. At Lake Manyara we were able to observe several families of elephants, they walked right alongside our jeep, so close that we could see their eyelashes. Lake Manyara is also a birder's paradise and a home of great many baboons. One word of caution - it was very dusty, bring a mask or a bandanna to tie around your face, and drink lots of water.

I've not seen other famous safari destinations but I can say that higher price is justified, giving you the best of wildlife.

Tanzania is excellent place for safary - we were in Tarangire, Ngoro-Ngoro and Serengetty National Parks and all these places were very interesting and comfortable places for safary with enough hotels you can choose for the rest after safary.
Only 4 stars for "bush vibe" because the better-known parks are rather too crowded
Very different National Parks with a different vegetation from really green (Arusha) to dry areas (Tarangire) and very special (Ngorongoro)

Amazing fauna and flora on magnificient lanscapes together with great services.
This was our first safari so we have nothing to compare it with. However, we had an incredible time there, both in Selous and Mwagusi, and were blown away with the scenery, the amount of wildlife that we saw, and with the friendliness and passion for their country that we witnessed in all of the management and their staff.
The BEST part of Tanzania are the people. Do not forget them. Make sure you give a gratuity.

Flights are easy and it's relatively safe. You can easily spend a night in Dar Es Salaam on arrival before flying out to the safari camp, and there are also lovely beaches too for the tail-end of your holiday (you don't need to go to Zanzibar). Mostly though I rate it because Selous was such a superb park

Same as my previous comment, the country and people are fantastic, the wildlife plentiful, it would be a shame not to go there if you have the opportunity
