Great travel destination, Tanzania. Chilly nice weather in Arusha with Safari trips, sunny island beach vibes in Zanzibar, urban living in Dar Es Salaam.
3 places/experiences to have visiting Tanzania.
Furaha Tours did a great job with a good guide Gamma. Saw 4 out of the big 5 during my tour of Ngorongoro crater, Tarangire & Lake Manyara.
Tanzania seems generally safe.
Machala at Kendwa beach provides great jet ski service too. Great guy

The safari during the daytime is fine but the food and accommodations vary quite a bit among different venders. So be sure to have your vender specify all accomodation types and locations before you join the tour. Good luck!

Countless animals in their natural environment

We went on a 3-day safari with Serengeti and NgoroNgoro Crater. The landscape was wonderfully green and countless animals grazed peacefully on the green, lush meadows. We werw lucky to discover all the Big Five and were able to marvel at all the animals in their natural habitat. It was very impressive. As December is the rainy season, it rained heavily for 1-2 hours every day.
Everything worked out perfectly. The camps were well organised and the food was excellent. The days were intense and eventful.
I recommend 3-4 days for this type of safari.
You should bear in mind that you spend many hours in the safari car and that the journey to the national parks alone is around 250 kilometres.

Tanzania will stay in my heart forever and ever

Tanzania is a great place to do safari....Wildlife is amazing and also landscapes. I went in January and the nature was beautiful, so green, I didn't imagine. The parks are big, Serengeti of course is on my top list but also Ngorongoro, Tarangire. The experience in campsites is absolutely wonderful. They are well organized with a cook who does all the best during your stay. I felt so comfortable there. I would like to go there again as soon as possibile. Their culture, Maasai people, are so interesting and fascintating. I would like to know more about them. Thanks to my tour operator Meru Slopes and my wonderful driver Jacob and cook Dulla. I loved them. Asante sana Tanzania!

The amazing vibes of Serengeti

During our trip (duration 7 full days) we visited for 3 days/2 nights Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater and 4 days Zanzibar, staying one day in Stonetown and 3 days in an all inclusive resort in Nwungi Beach. The weather in Serengeti was marvelous - sunshine 16-26 degrees Celcius, however, as we were there at end of the rainy season we had the chance to see the Park dressed in green and the rivers and lakes full of water (green grass all over, green bushes etc). So the scenery was amazing. We booked our safari with Serengeti African Tours and everything went on smoothly. Dickson, our guide, was an excellent driver, which counted a lot as many paths in the Park were full of mud and water and it was easy to stuck. He also knew all the spots with the animals and plenty of information about them. The tented camp and the lodge we stayed were very nice. Accomodation was more then satisfactory and the food great. In Zanzibar we went without a tour operator. We stayed in Park Hyatt in Stonetown and Riu Palace in Nwungi, which were great, great breakfast, by the beach, excellent service, with one bad night in Riu, were a cocoroach walked on me while sleeping and they changed us rooms until they spayed and clean the room next morning. For some hours before our flight to Athens we booked a room in Tembo House which had good service but the room was terrbily hot as the air condition was either too weak for that room of mulfunctioning and did not improve although we complained about it. Overall I think that it vital that in Zanzibar one stays in 5 stars hotels otherwise one risks more to face inadequacies that spoil the trip. Weather in Zanzibar is not so good as it it hot and VERY humid and you stink from the first 5 minutes that you walk out. However, the nature is very nice and while you swim and saty by the beach it is nice. We were lucky to have an excellent taxi driver when getting around in Zanzibar (Omary), which is vital as the roads and the traffic there are madness, especially when it gets dark and I do not recommend for anyone to self drive there. As I am a traveller who likes to be independent and I like to rent a car wherever I go, I consider this as a serious disadvantage of Zanzibar. Also, one thing I want to mention is that as a woman travelling without my husband I faced some ridiculus problems especially at the domestic airport of Zanzibar and Arusha when traveling to and from Serengeti. The personel of FlightLink in both trips tried to cause me problems in order to offer solution which called for TIPS! When I was flying to Serengeti they lied to me telling that my flight was canceled ( the plane departed on time after 2 hours, eventually with me inside as an employee of the Zanzibar airport said to the personel of Flightlink something) and when we were returning to Zanzibar they did not load my backpack, weight 8 kilos and a backpack of another italian lady, weight 2 kilos, and the explanation was that plane was overloaded (there were many empty seats, as it was low season) !!! No male passenger faced the same problem, altough they had huge and heavy luggage! Coincidence ? I do not think so. When my backpack arrived with the next flight after 90 minutes they "helped"me carry it to the taxi, hoping for tip which I did not give of course! Last, Ï want to mention the VISA and ZIC insurance that add almost 90 euros or dollars on the budget of the trip without any justicication ! It is just an easy way to exploit - but not sustainably - the tourists that visit Tanzania. These 2 charges make sure that we will not come back, although we had a very good time, plus the fact that the trip is not very expensive nor too long, so it can be repeated by the same tourist.

We took a your days tour to Lake Manyara, Ngorogoro Crater and Serengeti Park. The first day we had a shared tour with four other great people and a decent guide and saw some beautiful landscape and some animals but the lodge (Africa Safari) was overflooded and looked nothing like the pictures on booking. The company must have known this because on Booking was clearly stated by the guests that this happend a lot this year.
The next day we had a group of two people from Germany that acted really aggressive towards us and especially the driver because he was late to pick him up. He was disrespectful for an hour threatening and talking aggressive and the guide just stood there and did not react at all (he also talked to his boss threatening that he is important and his time is important). This ruined the experience at the Ngorogoro Crater because we had to spend all day with them in that car, which was definitely a shame because it was the most beautiful place we saw in this four days.
Afterwards we stayed at a beautiful hotel with an incredible view near the Crater also called Africa Safari.
All three guides said that Serengeti Park is the most beautiful in Tanzania but maybe not in December because all the animals were in the sout of the park and we did not know that when we booked two days in the central part. I think the people from the company organizing the tour don t know this or don t care, because to set a tour for two days at Serengeti Park where there are almost no animals is really not ok.
Also be careful when booking the tour to make sure where the flights are right. On the sheet from them it was drawn a flight from central Serengeti but in fact was a flight from Kilimanjaro (an 8 hour road). When we mentioned this to the staff from the company they tried to mend it by offering an upgrade of the logde in Serengeti Park (which was nice and clean).

Richful in nature

Happy to have taken a safari tour to Tanzania, got to experience rich wildlife. In Lake Manyara, we saw sleeping lions in trees, many exotic animals, and not least a whole giraffe family, all up close. I found Tarangire a bit boring, nothing much to see except for elephants and ostriches. Ngorongoro was epic, the wildlife, the nature, and the sheer size of the place. We saw nearly all the animals, except for the cheetah. All in all, I recommend taking a safari tour.

An enjoyable trip...

Our Tanzania vacation was great. We enjoyed seeing the Big 5 and many other animals. Wilda beasts and Zebras galore during migration. We saw 2 animals when we were on the hot air balloon. It was a fun experience. The landings are bumpy! The problem we had was that there were controlled burns while we were on safari. Many areas were filled with smoke which made sighting more difficult. The accommodations were superior but there was a lot of backtracking from parks to hotel. I would recommend a fly in safari or staying on site in the parks if possible. The tour guides were exceptional; Chris, Eric, Enoch, and Christian. Enoch was exceptionally kind, helping mom (83 years old) climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro! On our extra day we went to Serval Wildlife Rescue Park. A hands on experience; touch, pet and feed giraffes, impalas, an adult male lion, and many other animals.

At the entrance of all games park there were exceptional clean toilets, have not seen this high performance any other tourist place in the world, very well done.

Beautiful country with quality hospitality
Overall rating
4/5

We visited Tanzania in the first week of October. The weather was great. We had one day of light rain, but otherwise it was sunny and warm (not too hot). We visited Tarangire (so many elephants!), Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti (of course). We were in Northern Serengeti and witnessed a river crossing -- spectacular! In retrospect, I probably could have skipped Tarangire. I wanted to make sure I saw elephants, but there were plenty in Central Serengeti. The roads in the parks are dusty! Be prepared.
We loved our guide, but we had some issues with our tour operator, who is based in Tanzania. I wanted to use a local operator, but I think that led to some issues regarding the payment process. I might stick with a domestic (for me) operator so I don't have to deal with international transactions the next time around.
The hospitality at all of our lodgings was excellent. Service was top-notch. Tanzania, specifically the Serengeti (in my opinion), is a must-visit at least once in your lifetime.
