This was the first park of our Safari Itinerary. The weather was perfect for this trip - cloudy overcast with some occasional sprinkles, but due to heavy rains prior few days some of the roads in the park were closed, so we didn't get a chance to visit all planned areas, but those that we have visited were amazing. I was expecting a little bit less folks/tourists there, but this is subjective. We've got to see giraffes, gazelles, monkeys, ostriches. But the most memorable encounter was with the herd of elephants, counting about 20. They crossed dirt road we were on and you can see all of them from few feet distance - amazing.

A very recommendable park with a great variety of animals and landscapes. With its river at the heart of the park it offers also a very scenic landscape. We didn't regret it at all visiting this beautiful park.

Wide open views, diverse habitats and wonderful accommodations as well as close proximity to the international airport make Tarangire easily accessible without air travel. We stayed at Treetops and enjoyed fine food and beverage, friendly staff and wonderful bird watching from our door. Trips into the park provided a wide range of plants and animals including close encounters with many of the expected mammalian and avian species. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Tarangire is a great introduction to seeing lots of elephants. Last trip we encountered Leopards too, which was a great thrill for everyone.

The perfect African safari

We enjoyed a sunset and a sunrise safari in Tarangire National Park and both were excellent. Our guide was extremely knowledgable and entertaining. He tailored his approach with us depending on our interests and told us so many stories about his time as a guide! Our safari jeep was great and seated six comfortably, not that we sat down for much of it.

We spent one night at a campsite in the park, which was basic but comfortable enough, and we heard lions roaring nearby to our tents as we slept. The food was great, it would be impossible to go hungry. We saw only a handful of other tourists whilst we were there.

Highlights were the number of elephants (we saw so many!), the baobab trees, extensive bird life, a trio of cheetahs and driving alongside a charging herd of wildebeest.

Only after a few meters that you have entered the park, you will stumble across elephants. There is no doubt about that. The park is huge and the 1,5 day we visited we only could cover a bit. It was out first game drive in Tanzania and within one day we spotted of course zebra's and gnoes, elephants and monkeys. But what about a wild dog eating of a dead gnoe near the road. Baby elephants near our car without the herd getting nervous. Several leopards in trees. Great lunch spots. Many people visit Tarangire Wildlife Park and it is more than worht it. The park is so big and that it will not feel over crowded. There are all sorts and sizes of accommodation so you can decide for your self what suits you best. The park is very versatile in its surroundings with open field, bush, rivers, savanne, hills etc. Definitely a place it would come again.

Tarangire is a wonderful place to see elephants in particular. I saw countless elephant herds with newborns, as well as elephants mourning over a dead carcass. I was also incredibly fortunate to see a pack of extremely rare wild dogs lounging in the sun.
