Murchison Falls National Park lies at the northern end of the Rift Valley. It is the largest protected area situated north of Masindi District and spanning the Victoria Nile. The park is named after the dramatic Murchison Falls where the river explodes violently through a narrow 7 m gap to fall a distance of 47m. The park's wildlife species include giraffes, lions, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, elephants, warthogs, and many birds. These provide an opportunity for an excellent game drive.
