Home of the African elephant and crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak, Amboseli National Park is one of Kenya's most popular parks. Amboseli is world-famous for its populations of large mammals, especially elephants, of which there are around 700. The swamps are a centre of activity for elephants, hippos, buffaloes, and abundant waterbirds. The surrounding flat grasslands are home to grazing antelopes. Spotted hyenas are plentiful, as are jackals, warthogs, and olive baboons.
