Umkumbe's Bush Lodge overlooks a patch of open savanna, and a winding drainage line that eventually empties into the seasonal Sand River. Visitors can explore the outdoors and look for game in their spare time between excursions and meals. Guests regularly see elephants, hippos, buffalo and antelopes grazing in the river bed. Elegant tent suites with plenty of space are located in the middle of a forest on their own elevated wooden decks and are all named after trees native to the area.
